Chapter 2

Lyra POV

The beeping of a heart monitor was the first thing i heard before i could even slowly open my eyes, and my whole body was achy, like i was hit by a car, which made me moan as I attempted to change my position on the hard mattress. 

I squinted at the blinding white ceiling, stunned and a little bit disoriented as I found myself in the pristine white walls of the academy infirmary, sthe very last thing I recalled was collapsing on the floor of the ceremonial hall while everyone was laughing at me.

“It's good to see you’re awake, really you should consider yourself lucky to be alive after that massive catastrophe,” A nurse said, approaching to check my IV line with a worried frown. 

"Kael Ravencrest issued the most strict orders that no one is to see you, he's completely breaking down because rumors are already spreading everywhere that you used some sort of forbidden magic on his stepbrothers."

“How in the world did I even get here?” I whispered, losing my voice completely as my mind raced wondering how I got out of that packed hall.

"The Voss brothers brought you in personally, they tossed the guards aside and everything Kael ever ordered," she said, but the moment I was about to say something more to her the iron door opened with a bang and the room suddenly turned cold. 

Caius Voss entered, his tall, broad frame filling the room entirely, the nurse didn’t even bother to protest as she rapidly grabbed her clipboard and dashed out of the room. I tensed against the pillows, holding the cover close to my chest since we had never really spoken prior to today, and the fact that he was one of the academy’s most brutal Alphas was making my heart race with terror.

He stood at the foot of my bed his arms folded as he glared down at me with anger.

"Why did you let him treat you like that?" Caius asked, his voice making me scared causing me to move back from his intense look.

"You just sat there. Took it while he made fun of you in front of everyone, at the academy when you should have fought back."

“He’s going to be the Alpha King, Caius and I’m just a girl with a wolf that’s not stable so what was I supposed to do?" I said, trying to hide the fact that my hands were shaking under the sheets.

“You’re not Lyra and you don’t belong to him anymore " he said, leaning down a bit as his dark eyes locked onto mine with a strange intensity that made my skin feel funny.

“The blast occurred because Kael’s repulsion activated something else, the mating bond lock-shattered, and you are mated to all three of us.” 

I gaped at him in disbelief, my mouth hanging open as I attempted to comprehend the ridiculousness of what he was saying. 

“There’s no way, you’re triplets and you’re Kael’s stepbrothers, there’s no way the Moon Goddess would chain me to three Alphas at the same time.”

“It can be done and it’s been done,” Ronan said from the doorway, his voice cutting through mine, and I glanced up to find him walking in with that lazy, predator’s smirk he always had on, but his eyes were wild tracking me. 

“Look at Kael's thrown-away little toy, she's pretending she doesn't smell us, but my wolf is practically screaming to rip the throat out of any male who even steps in this corridor.”

“Don't call me that, Ronan, we don’t even know each other,” I whispered as I buried myself deeper into my bed, because his aggressive, possessive energy was beginning to fill up the entire space.

Lucien came in immediately after, a lot more relaxed than his brothers, but the severity in his face said all I needed to hear. 

"Ignore them, Lyra, "they don't know how to talk to a woman with respect, but you have to know that the academy is already splitting into factions because of this, and Selene Ashford is coming after you, specifically." 

"I just want to get back to my dorm and act like none of this is real," I said, turning my gaze from the three of them as the sheer force of their presence was making my inner wolf howl in a way I had never felt before.

“You can’t run forever, Lyra. Kael is already becoming a jealous freak because we're being near you, and this bond will only strengthen,” Lucien warned softly, backing up as the head nurse walked back into the room followed by two guards to escort them out of the room.

The brothers walked out without saying another word. That silence stuck with me for the rest of the night, It lasted until I was finally allowed to leave and head back to my dorm. Walking back home was an experience as Students in the halls stared at me. Their faces looked angry and scared. It was like they were trying to tell me that my time, at Blackthorn Academy was done. I locked my dorm room door, immediately and crawled under my sheets and wished sleep would take the pain from my body, but a sudden, stifling heat ignited in my chest at around midnight.

My temperature went up within seconds, and before I even had time to reach for a glass of water, there was a loud, reverberating snap inside my head.

"Lyra? What are you doing right now?" Caius's voice suddenly thundered forcefully in my mind, and I could tell he was completely panicked.

She’s burning up, I can feel her distress through the link, where are you, Lyra?” Lucien's voice cut in immediately, as if trying to read through my mind. 

'Hold on, sweetheart I'm already on my way, to your building' Ronans deep voice growled through the connection. And I Quickly shut down the mind-link. Then I stumbled out of bed, went to the balcony for some fresh air.

The cool night air hit me as I threw open the glass doors panting heavily.. I stopped in my tracks when I saw a tall figure crouched on the stone railing.

Ronan jumped down onto the balcony floor without making a sound. His large hands gripped my waist tightly, Pulling my hot shaking body against his chest.

"I told you I could feel your distress through our bond, Lyra. So stop trying to hide from us " Ronan whispered softly.
