Chapter 3

Lyra POV

Ronans big hands wrap around my waist as he pulls me close to his chest. The heat from his body makes my head spin. I am still scared of how fast thingsre happening so I push against his shoulders.

"Let me go Ronan, what if someone sees you on my balcony?" I say, trying to catch my breath. My heart is beating fast and my inner wolf is getting upset.

"Let them look I do not care who sees us " Ronan says. "Your smell is driving every man in the building crazy " he adds, running his nose along my neck, making me shiver. 

The sound of labored footsteps down the hall makes him distance himself a bit, and before I can even register what’s going on, Caius and Lucien are standing on the balcony edge, their faces beyond pissed. 

“We need to get her out of here, now, it’s a madhouse out there, The unmated Alphas are already gathering outside the door of the dormitory," Caius says, the harsh command in his voice makes me understand just how much of a threat my heat cycle has become. 

"My wolf is going crazy I feel like something else's coming out " I say quietly holding my stomach as a sharp pain hits me. Lucien steps forward. Puts a thick coat around my arms.

"Kaels rejection made your hidden powers show up and the stress of this connection made your heat start early " Lucien says fast leading me to the back door while Ronan and Caius watch out.

We rush the campus, avoiding the main pathways until we reach the private residential sector where the Voss brothers live, which is completely off-limits to unrelated females according to academy rules.

"I shouldn't be here Caius. If the dean finds out I am staying in your house they will kick me out away " I say, sitting down in a big leather chair in their living room while I start to feel hot.

"Let them try. Nobody will hurt you while you are, in our house " Caius replies, shutting the doors tightly.. Then someone starts banging on the door really hard, startling all of us. 

When Caius opens the door Kael is standing there with some guards. He looks really angry and jealous.

"Get out of my way, Caius, I know you have Lyra inside this house, you are explicitly breaking academy law by keeping her here," Kael shouts, trying to push his way past his stepbrother, but Ronan steps into his path immediately.

"She doesn't belong to you anymore, Kael, you rejected her publicly, so turn around and take your pathetic guards back to your mansion," Ronan growls, his fangs extending as his aura flares up to challenge the future Alpha King.

“You’re using her to undermine me because you want my throne and my power, but she’s a broken omega, and she isn’t worthy of that kind of scrutiny,” Kael snarls, sweeping his gaze over Ronan and then at me out of the corner of his eye, and the look of regret that immediately flashes on his face when he catches sight of Lucien dabbing at my cheek with a compress is undeniable. 

“Leave or I rip you to shreds,” Caius warns, his voice so eerily calm that Kael takes a step back, considering the fact that he’s outnumbered, and visibly outmatched, by the three of them before he barks an order for his guards to fall back.

The door slams shut again. This makes the room feel really uncomfortable. I start to feel even worse because of the heat. I let out a moan and slide down from the chair to the floor.

"The bond, between us is getting too strong. It's beginning to get hard to ignore." Lucien says and can hear the worry in his voice as he gets more and more out of breath. His hands are shaking a bit as he tries not to touch me.

Caius comes over, Sits down on the ground behind me and pulling my back against his chest and the moment we touch I feel my body relax.

“ Breathe, Lyra I’m not going to hurt you or mark you I just want to calm you down so don’t try to move away " Caius whispers. His warm hands wrap around my wrists, then he puts his face in the hollow of my neck.

His warm breath tickles my skin and hen his lips touch my scent gland I feel a strong jolt of electricity, making my hips move against his thighs. Ronan groans loudly from across the room, His eyes are wild and not focused as he watches Caius help me relieve my heat by doing whatever he's currently doing. 

"Caius please it hurts " I cry out and I’m caught between wanting to turn and kiss him and being really scared of losing control.

"I know, sweetheart. We have to wait,If we fully claim you tonight while your wolf is still unstable it could kill you " Caius pants, His chest is heaving against my back as he tries hard to control himself and not bite me.

Lucien who I didn't notice left the room walks back in with cloth and wipes my forehead, while Ronan paces back and forth like a caged animal. His knuckles are white as he fights his inner beast to keep from jumping onto the bed with us.

The room feels suffocating but somewhat at peace. For a second my fever starts to go down because of Caiuss arms and I start to think we might actually make it through the night.

Then suddenly a loud crash of breaking glass shatters the silence, from the bedroom. I hear the

heavy thud of boots landing on the floorboards.
