The Princess' of Andora

The Princess’ of Andora

“Selene Adira Marin! Wake up, you’re going to be late for the Annual Ball of the Sea!” Next thing Selene knew, her door was being thrown open by her mom Cora. Selene was waiting for the outburst her mom was going to start because she slept in again.

“Selene is this anyway the future Queen of Andora should behave? Sleeping in when you still have yet to pack and get ready”.

“Mom please stop yelling, I’m up, goddess woman the whole Palace heard you”, she said, the sleep still evident in her voice. Just then her sister Nahla walks in with a big cup of coffee, the aroma instantly had Selene up and out of bed thanking her.

“What would you do without me?” Nahla said chuckling. “Probably still getting yelled at by the Queen”, she said playfully rolling her eyes at her mother. “Go shower and get ready, I will pack your bag, oh by the way Nahla since your eighteenth birthday is tomorrow, the King gave in to you. All your pleading and begging worked sweetheart, pack a bag you get to go with your sister”, Cora says laughing.

“Ahh, thank you mom”, Nahla screamed jumping up and down her beautiful curly black hair wild and her dark blue almost violet eyes shining with excitement. She is excited about the possibility of finding her mate.

As Selene walked to her ensuite, she stared at her bathtub longingly and sighs, she knows her mom is upset so she takes a quick shower. She puts on a silver silk dress her mom left out for her. It’s beautiful with the back opening up completely and small pearls lining the V shape form, the front of the dress is simple and fits her perfectly.

Selene looked in the mirror, she is not naive, she knows that she is beautiful. Her long iridescent black hair that looks like the midnight sky and during the day takes on a purple shine and her rare purple eyes that only Royals have, her plump rosy lips, and her hourglass shape.

But she prefers shorts and a tank top and dreams to be free, at least for a little until she has to inherit the throne as the future Queen of Andora. She is the oldest child and the future of Andora weighs heavily on her.

“Are you ready my baby”, she hears her mom call, snapping her out of her thoughts. She quickly puts on her cherry flavored chapstick and slides on her beautiful Moon Ring.

See when Merfolk turn eighteen they are given a Moon Ring to harness and enhance their abilities. All Merfolk have a gift and only very few have more than one gift. With Selene being a Royal and the next heir to the throne, she has several powerful gifts. The Moon Ring she has is even rarer with the diamond looking like swirls of stars intertwining with blue streaks, almost as if the land and ocean are trying to become one. It’s the only one of its kind and was given to her just yesterday on her eighteenth birthday, it used to belong to her Grandmother the previous Queen.

“How do I look mom?” she twirled to show her mom how she looked, her hair long black hair flowing, Cora is close to tears and hugs her daughter close. She hopes her daughter finds her mate, a Prince in one of the other three factions.

The Merworld is made up of four factions. Andora the North, Makara the East, Delmare the South, and Bloom the West. Not all merfolk live in the sea but rather live near the sea close to their faction.

Andora is known for having only Female Heirs who are beyond beautiful and gifted. Andora is the most powerful faction. She knows that the Princes’ of the other factions are hoping to be her mate. It would result in a great union bringing prosperity to all.

“I’m ready mom”, Nahla says as she walks in dressed in a beautiful black knee length dress with crystals lining the sweetheart neckline, her small luggage in tow. Nahla was adopted by the Queen and King, as just a small baby left on the door step of the Palace when Selene was but a baby herself.

The Palace advisor has the gift of sight, and saw Nahla’s role in the Princess’ life as extremely important. Nahla knows that she is adopted, but she nor the Princess know of what the Advisor saw that day, it was kept as a secret between the Queen, King, and Advisor. They took in this little infant girl and raised her as one of their own. The Queen didn’t have the heart to send her to the orphanage, as soon as she saw Nahla she fell in love with her instantly.

Nahla grew up with the same privileges, schooling, and training as her sister Selene. And though she knew she was adopted she never felt anything less than their daughter, as the Queen and King loved her just the same. The girls instantly connected, almost as if they were meant to always be together. The girls never fought and were inseparable. They have never spent a day apart from one another.

“Mom isn’t it unfair that Nahla’s birthday is tomorrow and she has to go to this awful Ball, where the mermen and mermaids will all lusting over each other”, said Selene trying to find any excuse not to attend, though she is happy she won’t be alone and will have her sister with her for the next two days.

“Not at all I can’t wait!”, Nahla exclaimed, unlike her sister she loved going out, learning new things, and meeting new people. Selene rolls her eyes at her sister, but is so excited to have her with her.

“I will see you girls in two days, I have already planned a party for you my sweet girl for when you return”, Cora says to her daughter Nahla. “Here, take this and open it tomorrow sweetie, your dad and I will call you in the morning”, Cora said handing Nahla a beautiful blue shell that’s holding a Moon Ring on the inside. She had it specially made for her daughter, for her eighteenth birthday.

“I want you girls to have fun and look out for each other, it feels like just yesterday I was changing diapers”, Cora smiled proudly at her girls. “Okay mom we love you too”, the girls said in unison before their mom had the chance to cry, they teleported straight to the front of Bloom Palace.

Both girls have the gift of teleportation and it definitely helps with not having to swim thousands of miles to the next faction or taking a plane, most merfolk like to stay on land or water as much as possible.

Bloom Palace was holding the Ball this year, they were known for allowing other supernatural beings like fairies, lycan’s, and dragons to live amongst one another in peace. When the girls approached the palace they were quickly greeted and shown to their room.

They were in awe as the Palace was huge compared to their home, old portraits hung on the massive walls, the staircase has two sides and the Palace had to have over 200 bedrooms. They looked around their beautiful room taking it all in, the walls are white and had two bedrooms with four post dark wood king size beds, they had a beautiful balcony an enormous bathroom with a tub that can fit twelve people easily. The maid laughed at their expressions and the girls immediately blushed.

“Princess Selene, Princess Nahla, you may explore the grounds and mingle with the other guests once you all have settled in, my name is Mira, if you need anything please call for me”, she smiled. “Please call us by our names, formalities are not necessary Mira, Thank you”, Selene spoke kindly to her.

“Why are there so many rooms?” Asked Nahla her curiosity getting the best of her. “The entire pod live here, we are quite close, those who want to live on their own may, but most live here in the Palace” Mira explained. Well I’ll let you both get settled in and please send a sonar message if you need me”, she walked out to let the girls freshen up.

“This place is amazing”, squealed Nahla as she twirled around the large room. Selene smiles at her sister and grabs both of their garment bags to hang up in the closet. Selene was starting to get nervous, what if her mate is here? What if he is from a different Faction? Was she ready? Would he accept her as he will have a lot of duties alongside her. Before she can keep overthinking Nahla grabbed her hand and drags her out to where the party is happening.

“Let’s mingle and have some drinks”, she yelled excitedly! Selene can’t help but laugh and get excited too. After all she can use a distraction.

Selene and Nahla have so much fun and dance the night away. The party was amazing, fairies lit up the sky once the sun set and they were happy to learn about the other super natural beings. They got to talk to Merfolk from all factions and Fairies who loved dancing in the air, and no one treated them differently because of their status. After being at the party for hours, the girls get ready to retire for the night around eleven.

As they walk to the staircase they hear the servants talking about the Lycan King Xander and his impending arrival tomorrow morning on his search for his mate. Selene doesn’t know why but her heart flutters at the mention of Xander the Lycan King. The girls take turns showering and before they know it, it’s five minutes until midnight. Selene grabs the shell their mother gave to Nahla to open on her birthday, and at midnight she screamed “Happy Birthday” to her sister.

“Thank you”, her sister giggles as Selene walks over to hand her the gift their mother got her. When Nahla reaches her sister to grab her present, the second their hands touched it felt as if there was electricity flowing through them. Their eyes glowed purple and they both said “As One” in unison.

“What was that?”, exclaimed Nahla. “I have no idea, we will talk to our parents and advisor when we return home after the Ball later today”. Selene was just as confused.

Nahla opens her shell and is in awe of the beautiful Moon Ring she is staring at. Its stone is green and blue with flecks of silver shining like diamonds. She slides the ring on her finger and is smiling big.

“You must really love it”, Selene tells her sister. “It’s beautiful, it looks like a diamond burst into a million pieces”, she replied. “It is indeed a gorgeous ring sister”. They hugged each other and it was unlike all the other hugs. It felt comforting and warm, as if their soul was bonded and sealed. They felt complete, like they didn’t know something was missing until today. They felt like one soul in two bodies. With that the girls went to sleep with the Ball in mind.…
