Laila pov

I swallowed when the gates opened and the car crossed into the territory. Even with my straight face and eyes focused straight ahead, the tension budding around me didn’t seize to hold me everywhere.

“You look like you’re about to meet your worst nightmare,” Ares said next to me and i turned to him, he had his attention on his phone and unlike me, his brows weren’t creased or his lips in a whin line. In fact he looked all normal and calm.

“Aren’t you bothered?” I asked him.

“There’s no need to.” The car came to a halt in front of the main house and my heart dropped, the elders and those of the council were all standing outside and they were not in any bit happy. Their faces and their defensive stance said it all.

“Are-” but he was already outside leaving me behind.

“It’s now or never Laila, i trust that you can do this.” Kevin said and climbed out of the car. I inhaled and after counting to three i pushed opened the door.
