Chapter Fifty-One

Ryan led her into Reid’s old bedroom, right across from where Rein lay sleeping. Reid closed the door behind him and Jane looked around. She’d never actually been in Reid’s bedroom before and his scent overwhelmed her senses.

“Why did you do that?” Reid’s intense stare was fixed on her and Jane didn’t really know how to answer him. She had mixed feelings about everything, Rein included.

“The omegas are busy and she needed a bath,” Jane said.

Reid shook his head but the smile on his face resonated sadness and Jane wished she knew what was going through his mind. She hated feeling like this, so unsure of herself, so insecure about her own future.

“What did you want to talk about?” Jane looked at Ryan first and then back at Reid as she asked that question. She wasn’t sure she was ready to talk about everything.

“Britney’s death has left Reid free to ascend with me,” Ryan began. She couldn’t decipher the look in his eyes.

“I’m sure you’re both glad about that.” Jane felt uncomfortable. T
