Chapter 11

Raven and I sat in our secret spot talking for a good hour. Once she got all of the answers she wanted we decided to head back. I was missing my mate and I could feel he was missing me too.

“It’s so weird being able to feel someone else’s emotions other than my own.” I said as we walked back to the pack house.

“I can’t wait for that. I hope I find mine soon.”

“Your birthday is coming up! Not much longer hopefully.” I reassured her.

“I hope so. I also hope I don’t have to move farther away from you. I hate that you’re leaving.”

“I know it sucks but I’m the future Luna of the Night Shade pack.” I stopped walking. “Holy crap. I’m going to be a Luna!”

I never really dawned on me that Lyall was the future Alpha. I knew he would’ve eventually but it never clicked in my head that would make me future Luna. I started to get nervous.

“You’ll be just fine! You’re an Alpha’s daughter! You know all about it!” Raven reassured me.

I smiled at her and then started walking with her again back to the pack house.

We didn’t say anything else the rest of the way. As we walked up to the pack house, I all of a sudden felt angry. But it wasn’t my anger I was feeling, it was Lyall’s.

“I need to find Lyall now!”

I ran into the pack house looking for him. Once I got to the guest wing I felt his anger even more. I ran to find the door to his room not shut. I opened the door to find Ayala half naked and Lyall yelling at her to leave.

“You have two seconds to leave this room or I will tear your throat open!” I yelled.

Ayala stiffened and slowly turned around. She started to shake when she saw me standing in the doorway.

“A…a…a…Azura. It’s not what it looks like!” She stuttered.

“So you’re trying to tell me I’m imagining you half naked in my mate’s room trying to seduce him?!” I yelled even louder. “Get the fuck out of my mate’s room!”

Ayala ran so fast out of the room and back into her room.

Lyall came over to me and held onto me until my breathing went back to normal.

“I tried to get her to leave but she wouldn’t. Please know I didn’t let her touch me or come any closer than what she already was. I would never do anything to hurt you Azura!” Lyall was starting to panic.

“I know. I would have felt it otherwise. I trust you. I just don’t trust her.”

“Are you going to tell your father what happened?”

“I’m debating it. But I think I’ll wait to see what else she has up her sleeve and if she does anything else I’ll then inform the whole pack what happened at the meeting tomorrow night when we discuss if she’s joining or not.”

Once I calmed down we sat on the couch and continued watching the series we started last night. Around noon my father linked me that lunch was about ready so we headed to the kitchen. My mother was finishing up making venison sandwiches. We all sat around the table and I noticed my father wasn’t here yet.

“Where’s dad?” I asked.

“He had an important phone call to take. He said start without him and he’d join us as soon as he could.”

I shrugged my shoulders and started to eat. A few bites in I hear foot steps coming into the kitchen. I looked to see who it was. In walked Susan and Ayala.

“Would it be okay if we joined you for lunch?” Susan asked.

Ayala had her head down and wouldn’t look at any of us. She knows she messed up and was in deep trouble. She’s also lucky I haven’t told my father yet the stunt she pulled earlier.

“We don’t mind. Have a seat. I made venison sandwiches.” My mother cheerfully said.

Lyall must of sensed me start to get angry and he put his hand on my leg and squeezed it. I looked up at him and tried to smile but I couldn’t.

*calm down my love* I heard his voice in my head.

I looked at him in shock.

*how did you do that? I’ve only ever been able to do that with my family!*

*We’re mated now so we can link each other.* he winked at me.

I smiled up at him and held onto his hand that was on my leg. For the rest of lunch I did my best to ignore the fact Ayala was here. Thankfully she kept her mouth shut and hardly even spoke a word.

Lyall and I helped my mother clear the table once everyone was done with lunch.

“Dad still hasn’t come to lunch. Want me to bring him a sandwich?” I asked.

My mother smiled at me, “He would love that! Please do.”

I grabbed him a plate and piled two sandwiches and some chips onto it. Lyall came with me to help deliver lunch to my dad in his office. When we got to there we didn’t hear anyone in his office.

I looked up at Lyall confused and he just shrugged his shoulders. I knocked on his door, no answer. So I knocked again a little louder, still no answer. So I opened up the door a crack to peak in and my father wasn’t in his office.

We went back to the kitchen to let my mom know.

“Dad’s not in his office? Did he link you telling you he was leaving?”

“No he didn’t. I wonder where he went. I’ll link him now honey. Thanks for trying. Leave his food here and I’ll give it to him when I see him.”

It was weird of my father to leave without letting someone know where he was going. I tried not to think about it too much because it was probably nothing.

“What would you like to do?” I looked up at Lyall.

“Why don’t you see what Raven and Wyatt are up too? Maybe we could all hang out. I’d like to get to know your friends more, I had fun at the party with them.” He smiled at me.

I grabbed my phone from my pocket and texted them in our group chat.

*Wanna hang out? Lyall wants the four of us to chill.*

*Can’t I’m busy. Sorry!* -Wyatt

*Same. Sorry!* -Raven

*oh….okay. Ttyl*

I put my phone back in my pocket and frowned.

“They’re both busy. That’s so weird.”

“Why is it weird?” He asked.

“They’re never BOTH busy at the same time. I don’t know. First my father runs off without saying anything and now both of my best friends are busy.” I ran my hand through my hair and shook my head. “I’m just overthinking all of it. Let’s go for a walk?”

He smiled at me, “Lead the way!”

Lyall snd I walked around our pack land for a few hours. It was nice getting out and roaming around, it kept my mind off of my father and friends. We started to head back to the pack as it was starting to get dark and dinner would be ready soon.

We were about to pass the library when I saw my father and two best friends walking out. I grabbed Lyall and pulled us behind a tree so they wouldn’t see us.

I couldn’t hear what any of them were saying but my gut feeling earlier that something was up wasn’t just me overthinking. We waited until they left before continuing our walk back to the pack house.

“Don’t think too much of it. There must be a good reason why they were there.” Lyall tried reassuring me.

“Sure I guess…” I frowned.

I needed to know what this secret meeting was about. It’s not like my friends to meet my dad at the library and not inform me of it.

We got back to the pack house and I told Lyall I wanted to freshen up before dinner and that I would meet him later. I went to my room and locked the door. I turned off my link to Lyall so he couldn’t sense my feelings or hear my thoughts. I took one of my pillows to help muffle any sound I was about to make. I stared to scream into my pillow and then those screams turned into sobs.

All I could think about is why were they at the library, and why was it such a big secret. I have never felt so hurt by my own friends and father before.
