Rejected at first glance now desired

"Adrian, did you smell that?" Todd whispered to Adrian that happened to be the son of the pack beta and his beta when his father alpha Rupert re-signed as the pack alpha in a fortnight.

Something sharp pierces his heart, it isn't painful yet, but it's hot and makes him unable to breathe, he turns his head side by side, holding his chest, something is there, something that wasn't supposed to be there, that thing made him restless,

Todd Rupert is the son of Alpha Rupert, the former alpha of Wild Gold Pack.

In a fortnight he will step in as the alpha of Wild Gold Pack. Something he was born for and longed for, but there was something wrong at twenty, he hadn't met his wolf, and even though he could feel his wolf had surfaced in him still he couldn't communicate with it or shift and even as a son of a hybrid alpha, he still couldn't tell that he is a vampire, yet his strength is no match for anyone not even those who already got their wolf.

When he turned eighteen and still hadn't shifted, his father, the alpha sent him to the Academy of Magical Arts and he had to join the Faculty of Spell and Magic, what he lacked as a gift from the goddess, he could acquire a skill if he is to be the alpha.

As if it's not bad enough punishment that his wolf and vampire are locked, he hasn't met his mate yet. Since his coronation is in a fortnight, his father is organizing a political marriage for him with a strange girl, he has no idea of. One he hadn't met, one that he had no facial description of. Being born into an alpha lineage is more like a curse to him than a blessing.

Although his father had suffered almost the same fate as him. Todd's curse seems to be on a higher ground.

"Smell what?" The nosy Ivan, who doesn't see anything good in Todd questioned, he glared at him as he inhaled that smell that had hit his chest, turning his face, as he salivated, flicking his tongue across his lips. "Don't tell us, you are about to meet your mate because I don't see how possible it is when you don't even have a wolf."

"Ivan be quiet before you make me forget that you are my cousin." He growled at him, letting out a thundering sound, the four men were from the same family and they were on guard that night, as a result of a rogue's attack on the pack, they happened to be the strongest in the pack.

"Why are you acting like I said the unthinkable, you don't have your wolf and you are not planning on swindling the alpha from backing out of that arranged marriage alliance. You should know what that alliance will..." His words didn't finish, Todd howled, and the next thing a whooshing sound followed, Todd pinned him to the tree, and his eyes were red, as his claws went to his throat...

"Alpha Todd, let brother go," Cameron called, pulling Todd off his neck. Cameron is the coldest among the four, he found his mate, a few months after his wolf surfaced, and he is just like his father, delta Campbell. While Ivan, is a demon, he has a problem with peace and stirring trouble is his priority.

"You should tell him to bridle his tongue if he doesn't want me ending his life in this forest." Todd's voice was cold and yet his eyes were everywhere, and that smell hit him once more. He licked his lips forgetting that he was mad at this cousin of his. His eyes scanned the areas, and then he ran his hand on his neck, looking desperate and frustrated that he hadn't found what he was looking for.

"Where the fuck is she?" He growled in frustration, as he still couldn't find the one with that smell, that delicious after-bake smell, and at the same time, giving that morning hot coffee, aroma, he couldn't even give a name to that smell, yet he love it and hope to love the one that wears that smell.

He increased his step, turning in the direction, he thought the scent was coming from, going deep into the wood, Adrian ran after him as well as the other two, Cameron and Ivan.

Not too far into the wood, his eyes meet the boot of one standing in the forest like a lone wolf, backing him, the legs of the fellow are like a tree rooted to the floor, and on his waist was a sword in a sheath, with just a food bag hang across his shoulder.

He moved closer and touched the shoulder of the fellow, he turned to see the one that had touched his shoulder. He sniffed the fellow to confirm he was not making a mistake, that he was the bearer of the smell and it was confirmed.

His eyes darken as the night, and his fist clenched as his eyes access the fellow in front of him. Low-grade leather boots, with loose pants, an oversized shirt, and a leather jacket with a hood. It's a little man standing there, and come to think of it, this little man that is more like a girl, having no muscles, no perfect body build was this man.

"What the fuck did the goddess take me for, a gay?" He growled in anger, Todd could be everything, a stubborn fellow, an arrogant fool, one who doesn't give a fuck about the opinion of others, yet he loves girls, beautiful hot sexy girls, they have always been his plaything for his leisure, never had he be attracted to a fellow like himself, he just doesn't love the idea of have the same sex as a mate.

The fellow parted his lips to say something.

"Don't you fucking say anything, you can't be my mate." He growls at the fellow. If there is any award for the most compose and one that doesn't easily get mad, he could get the award.

"As the future Alpha of the Wild Gold Pack, I, Todd Rupert, hereby solemnly reject you,..." He paused and looked at the fellow. How could he reject someone that he had no idea of, not even the name of the man?

"What the heck is your name?" The fellow parted his lips to say something yet again the demon in Todd stopped him.

"It doesn't matter little man, I reject you as my mate."

Saying that Todd turned without waiting for the fellow to give him rejection, anger, and pain in his heart, he wanted to rip them apart and feed them to the birds of the sky, he wanted to shout out his heart to the goddess for cursing him this way. He hated himself and his entire existence, he tried to look for ways that he offended the goddess, yet he couldn't even find anyone.

Suddenly, a loud growl left the fellow mouth, the rejection had left pain in the heart of the fellow, his feet weren't able to hold his strength anymore and the next thing, the fellow fell to the ground, the loud growl left his mouth, Todd and his men turned, seeing the pain the fellow is going through because of the rejection  Adrian take a step toward the fellow, with the aim of helping him, Todd stop him with his hand..
