A Lying and Bribing Matthew

Matthews P

Matthews P.O.V

Once we arrived at Starbucks, I paid the taxi driver and held the door open for Mrs. Finkleston to walk in.

"Here we are Mrs. Finkleston." I said with my hands open wide.

She looked around and saw how long the line was.

"Child, look at the line. There's so many people in front of us! We're going to have to wait for a long time." she said sadly.

I looked at her, gave her a smile and said "Thats okay. Trust me, the wait will be worth it."

She laughed and said "It better be."

As we waited in line, I looked around hoping to find Ali and Mark.

Where is she?

"Excuse me for a minute child, Im going to use the restroom. I will be right back." said Mrs. Finkleston.

"Okay." I said.

7 seconds after she left I heard a laugh that sounds like Ali.

Found her!

"Mark..." said Ali with a small laugh

"Ali..." he said mimicking her.

"Just let him pay for it miss. Your boyfriend is trying to do something sweet for you." said the cashier.

BOYFRIEND!?!?!?!?

"Yeah, here that Ali? Im trying to do something sweet. So let ME pay." said an amused Mark.

I scoffed and crossed my arms, shaking my head. He is NOT her boyfriend.

There is NO WAY I am letting this whole 'Boyfriend' issue go on.

I walked up behind them and told the cashier "I'll pay for both of them."

They both turned around, and I couldn't help but smirk at their faces.

HA! Take that Mark!

After I paid for their food, they both told me thank you and then left.

What? Arn't they going to invite me to sit with them? Talk about rude! I just paid for their food! I know I didn't need to, but still. There is no way, I was going to let this whole 'Boyfriend' assumption thing go on.

I am starting to get stressed out. I don't know, why I care and why I'm going to this extent to make sure she isn't alone with him. Its confusing I am seriously starting to get a headache. But I'll be damed if I ever let her be alone with him.

He's not good enough for her.

After I ordered my food, along with Mrs. Finkleston's coffee and a blueberry muffin I saw her looking at, I grabbed 2 chairs and set it at the table Ali and Mark are sitting at. There is No way, I am letting her be alone with him.

Since their table was shaped like a square, I sat the two chairs on the empty sides of the table.

"Mr. Day, what are you doing here? I thought you were going straight to work? And why do you have 2 extra chairs?" said Ali with an exasperated tone.

"I was, but then a friend called me and asked if I wanted to join her for breakfast. These two extra chairs are for me and her." I replied with a smirk.

Yeah a friend thats actually, a 60 year old lady I had to bribe to come here with me, just so that I can make sure you can't be alone with Mark.

"A friend? Where is she?" said Ali looking around.

Oh Crap! Mrs.Finkleston!

I left and waited outside the ladies bathroom for Mrs. Finkleston.

I know that Mrs. Finkleston knows Ali, but hopefully Ali doesn't really know her. I'm praying that this is one of those I-know-you-but-you-don't-know-me neighbor relationships.

When Mrs. Finkleston came out of the bathroom, it took me a while to convince her to drink her coffee here instead of going back home.

"Please, Mrs. Finkleston? I even got you food. I saw you eyeing the blueberry muffin and so I bought it for you, hoping it would make you happy. Please?..." I said in a soft and sad tone, hoping to make her feel bad, if she were to say no

"Alright. But after I finish my food, we are going back home. Knowing my husband, he's probably eating his secret stash of Twinkies. He thinks he's clever and that I don't know about it." she said with a small laugh.

I laughed and hooked her arms with mine, leading her to the table Ali and Mark are sitting at.

"Mrs. Finkleston?" said a shocked Ali.

OH CRAP! So she does know her.

"You know her? Said Mark and I at the same time.

"Yeah, she's my next door neighbor. How do you know her?" said Ali in a amused tone.

Lie Matthew! Lie! Lie! Lie!

"She's my.. She's my..." I said stuttering a little.

"She's your what?" asked Ali.

"She's my grandma. Yeah, thats it! She's my grandma." I said with a smirk.

I admit, that this isn't the best lie because what if she met my real grandma? I obviously have two grandmas, one from my mothers side and another from my fathers side, but still... anyone can just search up about my family on Google.

"I am?" said Mrs. Finkleston

"She is?" said Ali at the same time Mrs. Finkleston spoke.

"Yes. Yes she is." I said with a triumphant smile.

Even though Ali isn't saying anything, I have a feeling she knows I'm lying.

Mark laughed and said "Wow. Small world."

"Would it be alright if me and my grandma joined you both for breakfast?" I asked with a smile.

"Yes, Of course" said Mark.

Even though I hate to admit it, Just this once I will say 'Im glad that Mark spoke.'

Once Mrs. Finkleston and I sat down, we all dug into our food and coffee and started having small talk.

"So Mrs. Finkleston, do you have any embarrassing stories to tell about Matthew?" asked Ali with a laugh.

Oh crap! Maybe its time for me and Mrs. Finkleston to go.

She smirked at me, then turned to Ali and said in the most sweetest tone "Why yes dear. Yes I do."

Oh no. I have a bad feeling about this.

It is so inappropriate to repeat your paragraphs-story lines redundantly. It is rude and a waste of my time. The story line maybe good- but who wants to read the same thing over and over again?
