Chapter 4

Chapter 4.

Asher.

There was no negotiating with my father. He was adamant and he threatened to use his alpha dominion over me. It was a special power the moon goddess gave alphas to make it easier for them to subdue their pack members. On the giving end it sounds like a really good thing but on the receiving end, it was extremely painful.

The one time I received it was when I was making a fuss at his wedding with my crush and babysitter, Andrea. That was the coldest thing ever. She is cunning and fucked me to get with my dad. Who does that? On his wedding, I was still heartbroken and sore from all the pain and I took it out on my father. I was his best man and was meant to give a speech. All I can say is, I royally fucked up. I said the truth but I didn’t consider how it would affect my dad. My speech was something along the lines of, dad I want you to be happy so I’m telling you you’re making a big mistake marrying Andrea.

I listed all the things she did but he wouldn’t have it, saying I was disrespecting her. I didn’t listen, blinded by the hurt I felt that I hurt my dad. He was so angry and used the dominant power thing on me to get me to shut up. I tried resisting but I kept feeling pain until I dropped to my knees, utterly broken. I looked up to see my father looking so disappointed and I couldn’t do it. I stood up to leave the wedding and as I passed their table, I could see just a hint of smile on Andrea’s face, hidden by her glass cup.

That was the start of college and the endless streams of partying, drinking and gambling. There were a lot of girls, and I decided that they were good enough to fuck but not good enough to date. As a result, since Andrea, I hadn’t had a girlfriend. Fucking bitch. She messes up my emotions too.

After, thinking upon everything, I decided that I would have to go to City University. It couldn’t be that bad, could it? I’ll pick anything than to go back to the pack and see my dad and Andrea gallivanting like the love sick couple they were. It still hurt a little to see them together. Besides, I would puke if one more pack she wolf threw herself on me.

I still went to parties, though. I have to keep up the reputation. In every of these parties, I searched for the girl that came in my dreams the other night. She was no where to be found, sadly. I think I might have found a new girlfriend, if I even find her at all. There was no how she didn’t exist. Scientists said dreams were a product of memories, right? So I must have seen her somewhere.

Right now, though, I was sitting in front of my dad’s office, waiting so I could tell him my decision. He was in one of those alpha meetings. Sometimes I wished I wasn’t going to be the next alpha. Being an alpha is draining and you have to put the needs of the pack before yours. Besides, I’ll need a Luna and I’m just not quite ready yet. The door swung open and lots of alpha males filtered out of the room. The dominance aura was so strong that I could barely breath. Damn. How was it for my dad’s replacement Omega, Dara in there?

My dad finally walks out, Andrea by his side. I ignore her presence and focus on my dad instead.

“Hey, dad. I’ve decided. I’m going to City University.” I tell him and his eyes light up, and for the first time in a long while, he smiled at me. A real genuine smile. I was basking in this moment because I knew it was rare. Then she who shall not be mentioned, opened her mouth.

“That’s wonderful news, Asher. We’re both really proud of you.”

“I wasn’t talking to you.” I snap back at her and my dad’s smile dissolved and his eyes hardened. I knew it was a rare moment.

“Well, I know you’ll have fun.” He says, choosing to ignore the conversation between his wife and I.

I transferred so I was supposed to be entering my fourth year. But somehow, I was pushed back to year 3 because they didn’t let people transfer into final year. Well, whatever. I move into the school dorms. They looked decent enough.

I looked across my room to find a brunette female, in just a tank top and booty shorts, staring at me. She was holding a drink in her hand which she slipped as she watched me haul my stuff into my dorm room..

“Hello, neighbor.” I wave before I shut the door not waiting for a response. Of course I’d room with a female. I think they had a sleepover or party that night. My neighbor even knocked on my door.

“Hey, neighbor. I’m Bella. You can come to the party if you want.” She says, looking like she just threw on a hoodie on her outfit from before. Talk about minimal effort pretty.

“I’m Asher. Do you think having a party before the first day is a good idea?” I ask, leaning on the door frame. She merely shrugged. I looked past her to see other girls watching me like predators.

“I’ll take a rain check, though. Maybe next time?” I ask and she gives me a thumbs up in reply. I didn’t attend the party but it feels like I did because I woke up with a pounding head. The noise was a lot and I couldn’t sleep. I roll over to look at the digital clock on my bedside table. Fuck. I’m late.
