Chapter 3

Chapter 3.

Wendy.

My father barely lifted an eyebrow at my outburst.

“Oh really?” He asks sarcastically. That fueled my desire to leave. He really didn’t believe I would actually go through with it.

“Yes.” He sat up on his throne now and dismissed his demon slaves, seeing I was serious.

“You know that means you have to find life force on your own, right?” He confirms and I nod positively, confirming his words. He opened his arms wide like the royalty he was.

“Well, you may go.” He says, like I needed his permission to do so.

“I may?” I ask in shock and disbelief that he agreed so quickly.

“yes.” He confirms.

“Um, just to confirm, no assignments, no spying on me.” I ask, still in disbelief. He nodded. I did the first and only father- daughter thing I had done since my mother died. I hugged my father. I wave him bye and leave his throne room. At the edge of the pinnacle where his throne was, I jumped, letting my wings to carry me all the way to Earth.

I had my destination in mind. I was going to spend a while with my sister, Chloe. In the dark of the night, I hope I was not so much in plain sight. I hide my horns and wings and knocked on my sister’s door. She came, bouncing a baby on her hip.

“Hi, Chloe.” I wave at her and she goes through all the stages of a reunion. Shock, denial and finally acceptance. She flew at me and I engulfed her and my niece, I think, in a hug. We stay like that for a while, none of us saying a thing for a while.

“Babe, who is that?” A male voice called from the inside of the house.

“Chile, I missed you.” I say, finally letting go. She steps aside, letting me enter the house. We pass a hallway and enter the living room. I am met with a male, human. He looked average, considering I had seen a lot from the male human species.

“Hi. I’m Wendy, Chloe’s sister.” I introduce, giving him my hand to shake.

“Tim. Her fiancé.” He says, clasping my hand in a firm grip. Well, at least he is strong. She hands me her baby, whispering that I should please not drop her. Her. I was right.

“Now who is this?” I ask as I say sweet baby nothing’s into her ears and she coos accordingly.

“Isis Wendy Altyre.” She says, and I feel tears prickling in my eyelids. She named her after me. Wordlessly, I hug my sister once again.

She shows me my room and I carry my favourite person with me. Chloe is never getting her back. She is such a cute thing. I brought out my phone and checked for any universities that was close by so I could come during the weekends. I already had my certificates ready. If you must know, I am a straight A’s student. I somehow manage to find the time between assignments. I smelled a really foul stench coming from Isis and decided that everyone has their faults.

“Chloe! Come get your child” I yell. There’s no how I’m dealing with poop. Chloe laughs and picks her up from my arms. I found the perfect university, City University. It won’t use up my funds and it is close enough. I apply for admission the soonest I could find.

The next day, I was Chloe’s trophy and Isis’ babysitter. We went all kinds of shopping and after, my whole body ached. Sheesh. How do humans survive? I also felt weaker, my supply of life form was reduced. My sister still looked really healthy. I have no idea how she does it. She only survives on her fiancé’s own. Of course he doesn’t know. She takes only in bits, so he wouldn’t get drained. I stayed in the house while they went to work. It was a really simple life and I enjoyed the simplicity but I was growing weaker and weaker with each day that passes.

While I was cleaning, I found my mom’s picture. Well, I haven’t been able to look at her since she died because subconsciously, I blamed her for the way my life was But now, I could because I had let go of the baggage called my father. She would have wanted me to have a perfectly normal life. I wished I could just tell her that I was well off now. I was going to university. I had never been happier. For the first time since after she died, I let myself cry properly.

That night, I was physically and mentally drained. My supply of life force was exhausted so he had to go into someone’s dreams that night. I concentrated and picked on a college student. He was one of the smarter ones, considering he read Ana Huang. He just moved up in my list of respect. I rarely ever say this but the sex was really good and his life force was intoxicating. I would’ve drunk more but I didn’t want it to affect him. I wave him bye, knowing I would never come back. There was, however, something different about him.

Revived, I returned back to the reality and found something to eat. All that sex made me really hungry. My sister walked into the kitchen to prepare myself a sandwich. I was finishing it off with some juice when Chloe yelled my name from the front door.

“Wendy!”

“Coming!” I yell back. I clean up fast, and go to the front door where Chloe is jumping up and down.

“You have a letter from City University.” She sounds like the one the letter is for. I tore it open.
