Chapter 5

Chapter 5.

Wendy.

I had moved into the dorms yesterday. If you’re still confused, let me rewind. I got the admission to study quantum physics and so, here I am. I woke up really early to prepare for school. I was so excited. This was my first physical class. How would it be like?

I got into a bus to campus. I hadn’t gotten my car yet but I planned on doing so. I got a text from. Chloe wishing me good luck and a picture of Isis I couldn’t stop looking at. I was lucky I left the dorms early because the bus I was on got held up at a point. It was getting late but I couldn’t sprout out my wings and fly away. Instead, I booked an Uber and left the bus. I managed to get in school in enough time to hear the first bell. As I made my way across the parking lot to school, a car sped in, splashing me water. My whole outfit of a leather jacket, jeans and boots was ruined.

I am so not letting this slide. I stomp my way to the car and I see the car owner’s retreating back.

“Hey, fuck you, asshole!” I yelled after him and he yelled back a sorry. Now, I’ll be super late. I carry around a spare change of clothes for these kind of situations. I check the map of the school and found the nearest rest room close to me. Shit. I’ll be for sure late now.

I hear crying from one of the bathroom stalls. I knock on the door.

“Are you okay?” I ask through the door. The sniffles stop momentarily and a flushing of the toilet.

“I’m fine.” Whoever it was reassured. I didn’t believe her and so I changed my clothes and waited outside for her. In a minute, a pretty blonde girl with mascara running down her face came out.

“Oh, honey.” I wipe her face with wipes I had in my bag. I reapplied her makeup with some of mine.

“Wanna tell me what happened?” I ask and she fidgeted around her bag for a bit before handing me a pregnancy stick. Well, shit.

“It’ll be fine but for now we have to attend class. Remember, you’re a dominant female and none of these male bullies should get to you.” I lead her along making sure she had emotional back up.

“What class?” I ask and she hands me her schedule. She really doesn’t talk much, does she? Great! She was in my class. I could envision both of us being really good friends.

“ We are in the same class. How cool is that?” I tell her and for the first time she smiled at me. Well, will you look at that beauty.

“Really?” She asks hopefully and I show her my own schedule.

“I’m Wendy. You must be Ava.” I introduce, looking at her schedule with her name on it and we shake hands.

We walk to class together, with our arms linked. The teacher, a younger looking female looked at is from her elevated position.

“Thank you for gracing us with your presence, Ms. Altyre and Ms. Collins.” She says and some people snickered at the back of the class.

“I’m sorry ma’am , we had do something in the rest room.”

“Yeah, sure.” One of them said and made a scissoring sign. Did I mention that majority of the population was male. Asides from the two of us there were only about three other girls in a class of approximately 40. We sit at an empty row in the middle of the class.

“Well as I was saying, we are trying a different approach to learning. This year, we would be having your seniors, specifically Year 3’s mentoring you.” She said and I can feel dread for the whole thing. Why can’t we just have regular learning? We learnt basic sciences, which I aced at because hello, I had nothing else to do except attend those classes over and over again. She wrote a basic question that involved de Broglie’s equation.

After class, we were meant to go for our first mentoring session and the pairings were on the projector. Sadly, Ava and I were in different groups so o went to class 3B where my mentor was Asher Dauqe. Well, I supposedly hit the jack pot because according to human standard, he was hot. I was the only girl in my group if not there would have been a troupe of fan girls gaining over him. He looked familiar. i don’t know what about him was familiar but I just knew I had met him before.

He turned his back to us to point at the topic on the projector and I knew then. He was the asshole who had ruined my outfit this morning. How lucky? My luck has always been shitty since I was born. He explained the fundamental quantum theory to us but I was barely listening as I plotted a million ways to kill him in my head.

He avoided my gaze, choosing instead to look at all the other males. He asked a question about the line spectrum of Hydrogen and my hand shot up. He tried to see if anyone else knew the answer but no one else did.

“Yes.” He gestures at me to answer and I smile slyly and say it. Of course it was correct. I made sure that I answered every other question so he had to pay attention to me.

“Well, Marie Curie, give someone else a chance.” A random guy said and I turned to answer him.

“Well, how about you don’t be so slow?” I retort. A collective ooh echoed from the class.

After the mentorship program, I wait behind to see Asher Dauqe. What kind of surname is that even?

“Well hello, mentor/ asshole. You ruined my outfit today.” I say, as I get to him.

“Did I?” He answers while putting together his stuff. I can’t believe this guy.

“Yes. You did.” I reply, crossing my arms around my chest.

“That must have been very un-mentor like for me. Are you going to report me, miss I know everything?” He snickers before leaving the emptied class

All I could feel was red hot anger and I let out a frustrated scream like Chloe taught me. He picked his poison. I would mess with him until he feels like he is going crazy. Watch out, Asher Dauqe I’m coming for you.
