I could feel myself being carried in his arms. “Don't fall asleep, listen to my voice,” his bold, warm voice came, and I groaned. My skin burned. I wanted to voice out, but nothing came out from my throat except a sharp pain.

My lashes fluttered and slowly began to close....the next second, I could see the white ceiling and a flashlight staring straight into my eyes. “What is happening?” I thought, my heart racing. I wanted to turn around, but my head was rooted in place.

“Don't move,” I heard that familiar voice. His face came into view. He was handsome, with a chiseled face and that cold look on his face...was he an angel? Was I in heaven or perhaps hell?

Everything blanked out...

“How is she?” I heard a faint voice ask, and the doctor sighed. “She is really lucky. The poison hadn't damaged her organs or she would be dead. That aside, the poison has been flushed out, and her face...it's just...beyond repair! but it...” he said, and the man in the chair hummed.

My eyes snapped open, and I stared lazily at them and then at the ceiling. I moved to sit up, but the doctor caught my shoulder.

“Please lay down,” he said, and I nodded. He exchanged looks with the man in the chair and walked off. As soon as the door closed, I turned to him...thinking of it, he now looked familiar...wasn't that Vincent Noir, a tycoon with a net worth of 700 billion? Was he my savior?

My lips parted. “Thank you,” I said. I couldn't believe it. I was alive, I really wasn't dead. The tears were visible in my eyes.

He didn't reply and stood up, walking to me. He took the document he was holding and tossed it to me. I opened the folder, about to go through the words, when...

“Do you want revenge?”

I stiffened, hearing his words, and my breath hitched as Christian and Mina's faces flashed in my memory. My grip on the folder tightened.

“It already seems like a yes,” he said, and I nodded. “Go through the folder. You are now Mia Carters,” he said.

Mia Carters? I had heard that name before. I searched through my memories, and it dawned on me. Of course, she was my rival, the billionaire female CEO. She was just age twenty-two when she disappeared. No whereabouts, nothing. Her billion-dollar empire was hidden away. Her parents never forgot her, but they mourned her, especially her grieving mother...

“Wasn't she a brat?” I blurted out instantly, and his eyes darkened, I shut my lips instantly. I had forgotten Vincent and Mia were so close. Even the media shipped them, and their families called them lovers about to be engaged. I knew he never stopped looking for her...but why was he actually....

“How long was I unconscious?” I asked, and his lips parted.

“Three months,” he said, and my eyes popped out of their sockets.

“No way, it can't be that long,” I said and stared around, but then I sighted the mirror. My face was bandaged, and so was my body...I touched the bandage. “What's happening?” I asked, and he placed his hands into his pockets.

“Your body wasn't beyond repair, but your face took much of the impact,” he said, and I gripped tightly onto my hospital gown. What was being lucky? My face was destroyed, my identity had been stripped off me. My billion-dollar empire was gone. My family was grieving.

“Who did this to you?” he asked, and I bit down on my tongue, inflicting pain on myself. I later released it and let out a dark chuckle.

“That's a long story,” I said. He didn't drag it further and moved to the table. He picked up the remote and clicked softly.

“Good afternoon. I’m Veronica Hale, reporting live from the cemetery.

It has now been three months since the tragic death of Laura Holloway, the world’s youngest billionaire. Yet, despite the passing of time, her fiancé, Christian Vale, is still said to be deeply grieving her loss.

Recently, footage surfaced from the reading of Laura Holloway’s will, where Christian accepted the majority of her inheritance. However, what continues to shock the public is the fact that Laura’s mother and sister were reportedly left with only one house each — and nothing more.

This has sparked growing speculation and controversy online. Did Laura Holloway discover something before her untimely death? Was there tension within the family that remained hidden from the public eye? Or was her death truly the result of a tragic restaurant accident involving an overheated pan that ultimately claimed her life?

As questions continue to rise, many are still searching for the truth behind the mysterious death of Laura Holloway.”

The news caught my attention. I stared at the television and gritted my teeth.

“That bastard, how dare he,” I said, my tone filled with venom and hatred. Vincent instantly understood from my gaze...

“The surgery has already been performed on you. You are no longer Laura but Mia Carters. Get familiar with her preferences. We leave tonight!” he said and walked to the door.

“Tonight? How do I grasp everything?” I asked, staring at the thick document. He just smiled.

“Aren't you Laura? You can do anything. Find a way!” he coldly said and walked out, closing the door. I clenched my fist, not because I was angry at his words. No, I was determined...

“Christian, Mina, you think you have won?” I laughed. “Let's see how you dare survive with me as Mia!”

I stared down at the folder, scanning my eyes right through it while the video of Christian crying enveloped the ward. I glared at the TV and bit down on my lips, but my eyes softened when I sighted my mum and sister gently placing flowers on my grave...

“I will be back soon and just wait on!” I said, fighting back my tears, but my eyes dimmed when I sighted a rotten egg being thrown at my mum and sister.

“You killed her, that's why you got only two small houses in return!” a girl screamed in the crowd, and I gritted my teeth because I knew it was Christian who planted the stupid girl.

“Yes, you killed your own daughter...”

“And your own sister,” the crowd joined in…

"It's so early, yet dogs are barking so loudly!" I cursed."How dare you call us dogs?" I heard Carolina say, but I didn't turn and continued eating my meal, they stood up and moved toward me."You brought another gigolo here?" she said, staring at the jacket left on the seat. Oh, I forgot Vincent had left for the restroom earlier, after, they started to trash-talk me."What's wrong if I actually did that?" I asked.Celine folded her hands under her boobs. "You are disgusting, you know that? Countless porn videos of you are out there, and you still dare to hold your head high?" she said.I rolled my eyes. "Oh, I just use makeup to cover my shamelessness?" I asked, clearly targeting their makeup routine, and they gritted their teeth."My father will hear of this!" they snapped at the same time, and I clicked my teeth together. "Geez, cool off with the father stuff. Depending on your fathers as grown adults is pathetic!" I said and looked away. They insisted on causing trouble and actua

"From what I remember, we aren't this close, Mr. Noir!" I said to Vincent, but he retracted his hand, gave me a cold look, and scoffed softly."Where are we headed?" I asked. "Dinner?" he said and I froze on the spot. Weren’t we going to take care of the men Dorian sent? Suddenly dinner now? How and why?"But—""Killing can wait, Mia. You haven’t eaten, you shouldn’t go hungry!" he said and I raised a brow."Mr. Noir, killing can wait? Did you just say that?" I asked in disbelief and burst out laughing. Just thinking he was merely joking with me, I looked away and licked my soft lips when suddenly the car came to a halt...I looked outside. We really were outside a restaurant, I stared at Vincent for a while. Wasn’t he ruthless? Why was he treating me like some queen? It made me smile for a subtle second, but that smile vanished... maybe he only saw me as Mia, my eyes darkened. This special treatment, the way he actually looked out for me was all Mia's, I shouldn't delude myself, ad t

Her eyes sparkled, expecting nothing but cash to be placed in her hands. Instead, my long legs stretched out and I walked over, holding the cash. Her smile faltered."Who are you?" she asked as I walked closer, but I didn't reply.I stared at her wound and immediately held her bruised arm. She hissed instantly, and the crowd went wild."How dare you mishandle a child like that!""Hey!""Let her go!""Someone call the traffic police!"The crowd yelled, but my gaze was only focused on the wound. I sighted an opening and smiled."You were never injured."Everyone froze, including the girl. She stared for a while in panic before bursting into hot tears."It hurts so much!" she cried out, and the crowd moved closer, clearly trying to free her hand from my grip, but..."The car never hit you. You jumped in and fell before it even crashed into you," I said.It wasn't entirely what had happened, just my theory, but I knew it was exactly what happened."I would never do that!" she said and sni

Hearing his words, I took in a final heavy breath and nodded softly. He took my left hand and gently caressed it. "You are becoming fragile!" he said.I looked up at him, "I don't have any weakness!" I spat back, but he chuckled. His gaze met mine and my heart skipped a beat in panic.Would he see the fear in my eyes?"If Christian walked up to you again and said hello, would you greet him properly?" he asked.I froze at the sudden question....If I knew the answer already, I would die before he even continued, I retracted my hand, but he held it back."It will take time. You shouldn't meet up with him for now," he said, and I nodded softly."Thank you!" I said, he looked up and raised a brow."For what?" he asked, and I sniffed. "For giving me a second chance. If I died, everyone would have gone scot-free, including those who hurt me and landed me right here!" I said.He chuckled. "Don't thank me. I would do the same for anyone!" he said.I laughed at his words."The Almighty Vincen

Everyone was finally leaving the office, but my phone had been buzzing nonstop. Dorian doesn't want to give up, does he? I stared at the pop-up message and rolled my eyes."Why are you doing this?" Sighting the message, I couldn't help but sigh. I scrolled to the bottom and pressed the block button..Just then, Vincent's call came through."Hello!" I said, watching as Florida packed my stuff into my bag, and handed it to me."See you tomorrow, Miss!" she said, and I nodded, walking out of the room."I'll be there by seven. You don't rea—" I froze at the sight before me, a Lamborghini was parked in front of my building! Huh?I stared in total shock and the window rolled down slowly. Vincent came into view! He came personally? Wasn't he a workaholic and always busy with schedules?I didn't even like him then it be honest. He was always with Mia and protected the lousy bitch. Plus, he declined a very fantastic contract I badly wanted to sign with him. It pissed me off, especially when I h

I snapped, and she trembled. "Please forgive me, I was out of line!" she begged, placing her head on the ground.I sighed and waved my hand...The security guards came, dragging Covey and Linda away."Please, Miss!" Linda begged."It's really not our fault! We had to do it! Situations happen!" they pleaded, but my eyes remained closed.Once the door closed shut, a shareholder spoke up."How do we deal with three billion in debts already? We have lost a lot!" he snapped.Another spoke. "It's all because of you. You disappeared and left the company in no reasonable person's hands!" he snapped.I simply rolled my eyes because the very person who had sent him to say those foolish words was Dorian.I had noticed the way his lips twitched earlier, I should play along then."Yes, I totally agree with him!"Another chimed in, and I rolled my eyes once more, making the elders freeze."Ill-mannered! You don't deserve to be the CEO. Let's vote for someone worthy!" the fifth shareholder said and t
