LAURA'S POV
"I didn't expect this place at all," I said, forcing a smile.
"Well, anything for you, my love," Christian said. I looked down and gently cut the meat into pieces, but stiffened as I felt his intense gaze on me.
"Is anything wrong?" I asked, raising my head to stare at him, and he shook his head negatively. I didn't push further and ate it. He seemed relieved and gently reached for his drink.
I really wanted to ask why Xena sent me a photo of him with his ex-fiancée, but those words couldn't leave my mouth. I just continued to eat.
His phone rang and I stared at the caller. It had no name, but I could feel my tummy flip in discomfort. He reached for it.
"Excuse me," he said and walked off. I gazed at his disappearing back and bit down on my lip. I picked up my phone. I began to type but froze as a sharp cramp twisted through my stomach. I held my tummy and gently rubbed it. It felt like a hot burning sensation. I gulped down some water, but it didn't help. There was no one around as he had bought the entire restaurant.
I stood up. "Christian," I called out, yet I heard no one. When I finally sighted him in the garden. "Thank goodness, Christian, I have to go, my tum-" My entire body went still at the sight. On the bench was Christian thrusting deep into his ex-fiancée Mina on the chair. I stood there speechless, trying to find my words, yet nothing could escape from my lips.
I made a step forward, but my knees buckled and I landed straight on the ground. I held onto my tummy, the pain hit hard... and he seemed to notice me then.
"Take me to the hospital," I called out weakly. He stared at me, but didn't stop and continued to thrust into her.
"Christian," I called out again and he stopped. "Shut the fvck up!" he yelled. My chest tightened, as this was the first time he had ever yelled. I coughed out blood and he seemed satisfied.
"Took you long enough," he said and my lips parted. "What did you put into my food?" I asked. He sighed and pulled out, zipping his trousers up.
"Just a little pill. Wouldn't kill you, but it'll damage your organs," he said and I gritted my teeth.
"Isn't that same as killing me?" I yelled out in rage and he froze before laughing.
"True."
His ex, Mina, gently pulled her gown down. "She's so pathetic," she said and eyed me from head to toe. "And dirty," she cursed, covering her nose.
"What stinks here?" she muttered again. I wanted to curse at her and Christian but I had no strength left in me... why would he do this? I loved him. I took care of him. I even gave him everything I owned.
"What?" I moved to voice out and he sighed. "I did like you a tiny bit... after all, you were wealthy. You could take me out of poverty and being known as the illegitimate son of my family," he sighed and glared at me.
"Well, but then you had to exercise your power over me, belittle me, and make me feel small!" he yelled and I shivered.
"I never did any of that! I just gave you a job in my office, so you wouldn't be idle at home," I said, struggling to breathe properly, and Mina rolled her eyes.
"You belittled him. In your office? So he should serve you?" she asked and walked closer to Christian, holding his arm.
"Too bad, we are now together," she said and moved closer, placing her lips onto his. They kissed softly and my heart tightened. It hurt so much seeing him being so intimate while I was dying.
"Did you ever care about me?" I asked, fighting back the tears about to fall.
"No. Laura, you were just convenient, besides you aren't the first woman I have scammed... I can't believe there are still stuck fools around," he added and clapped his hands, like he was enjoying a show.
He walked closer to me, crouched down, and held my cheeks. "Don't worry, the poison wouldn't kill you..." He paused and his eyes glistened.
"Something else will," he said and I spat straight in his face. He wiped it off, glared at me and..
POW
His hand cracked on my face. It hurt so much, yet I dared not cry.... I wouldn't shed a tear for him... I hate him, I thought bitterly
"Don't worry, I will take care of your wealth and family for you... especially your sister," he added, licking his lips and I clenched my fist.
"Don't you dare touch her," I muffled out in pain while the blood slid down the edge of my lips.
POW
Another slap landed and then a kick to my face, my body shook violently. My nose burst open at the impact and warm blood rushed down my lips. Before I could even blink, Mina was holding a gallon in her hand.
"What are you doing?" I asked in fright. She just smirked, turned the cover open and walked towards me.
"Christian, what are you doing? Would you burn this entire building down? You want to kill me?" I asked in panic and he smiled.
"I can just pay for this building!" he said and I gritted my teeth. I wanted to scratch that perfect face of his. All five years wasted on him...
"I curse the day I met you," I crawled angrily. He just smiled. She poured the gasoline around me, the bushes, then finally on me...
I held onto her leg. "If he kills me, you'll be his accomplice. Please don't do this." It was my last resort. Even if it meant I would kiss her feet to live, I would. She sneered and kicked my hands away, forcing a cry from my lips.
"Accomplice? Laura, we were never here," she said and Christian held her waist. She crouched down and held my chin “Besides, a rich woman should’ve known better than to fall in love.”
"Right, baby," he said and pecked her lips. It turned raw and provocative. I could only watch. My legs couldn't move. I felt paralyzed in place.
They parted and she lit the matchstick. Seeing it lit up and they had no fear, no remorse, I knew I was doomed.
The fire landed on the bushes and flames engulfed the surroundings. I coughed out my lungs as I inhaled the smoke. They just watched and walked off. I gazed at them. “The staff had been dismissed hours ago. So don't bother screaming," Christian said.
"How could you? You bastard!" I screamed in my head. The flames welcomed me and a broken scream tore from my lips.
"Help!"
I could feel the flames melting my skin. The ringing in my ear intensified. Was this how everything would end? With me dying? I left everything behind. I left almost everything under his name. My mum, my siblings...
I regret ever meeting him, I thought, accepting my death, when I heard the door creak open and a silhouette figure rushed towards me.
"Can you hear me?" he said, but my vision went blurry and everything went silent.
Another officer from behind took the gun from the woman and led her back to her ward.“She’s dead,” the doctor said and used her finger to shut Mina’s eyes closed.“Was she a patient here?” the doctor asked and looked at the officer. “I haven’t seen her here, or perhaps it’s because I’m mostly indoors in my office,” she said, and the officer crouched down.“She was brought here. Her trial was supposed to be in a week. She deserved it, I guess. She had killed so many women and even stabbed a patient here!” she said, and the doctor’s eyes darkened.“Yeah, I saw her everywhere in the news,” she said and stood up.“Well, inform her family to take her body away,” the doctor said, and the officer nodded. As they walked off, another team covered Mina’s body with a white duvet.***********Celeste was on the beach. Cassian had made her come here today with him, which was shocking.Usually, he avoided being seen wit
“I said I didn’t do anything!” Mina screamed, tossing around as the police officer tied her down with handcuffs.“Take this off me! I’m not a killer. I didn’t do anything!” She screamed at the top of her lungs.“Stay down,” the officer said as another doctor rushed to the patient covered in blood on the ground. Earlier, the patient had been ranting at Mina, and she had picked up a fork and stabbed the female in the eyes.“If she dies, you will really die in jail. Was being sent here not good enough to get your brain back on track?” the officer asked, and this only made her grit her teeth.“She kept talking, she was banging in my ear. How the hell is that my fault? How the hell?” she screamed at the top of her lungs, and then used all her strength to push the police officer off her. As the officer landed on the ground, she chuckled, laughing like a maniac.“Take her, lock her in the steel,” the head guard said, walking in as she shoved Min
"Chocolate factory, huh?" he said. "You really want sugar that bad?""Yes," I answered too fast. "I want to taste everything they have."He smiled a little, but his eyes still searched my face. I hated how easily he could read me.I looked down at the water, not daring to meet his gaze.Vincent lifted one hand and brushed a strand of hair from my cheek. "You're quiet," he said."I'm just thinking about the chocolate," I lied.Vincent didn't call me out. He only nodded and leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to the side of my head. My eyes closed for a second. It felt safe."Alright," he murmured. "We'll go. But first, we finish here."He reached for the small bottle of bath soap on the edge and poured some into his palm. The scent of orchid and vanilla filled the air. Then his hands were on my shoulders, slowly and carefully rubbing the soap across my skin. I stayed still. Part of me wanted to lean into him, the other just wanted to hear "I love you."His fingers moved down my arms, then
"I don't know how i got that on me," I blurted out, and he chuckled."Really?" He asked, and a small nervous smile curled to my lips. "We shouldn't be focused on this, aren't we focused on celebrating Christian's death?" I asked, and he nodded, then pointed at the bathtub. I walked towards it, but my cheeks were all flushed.God, how did I wear mismatched underwear?" I cursed in my mind, and sucked down on my bottom lip, but as my toe touched the water, I flinched."It's cold," I muttered, but then I felt Vincent's hands on my waist."Wait, don'-" I didn't finish my words, and he pushed me straight into the water. My hair was all wet now."It's not that cold!" He said, stepping in, but froze on sighting my death glare."Why did you have to push me?" I asked, with tears and anger lingering in my face."Hey, don't cry," he said and jumped in. The water splashed, but he didn't care about it. He held my elbows, and gently his left hand parted the strands of hair on my face."I didn't mean
"The beach is so cool," I muttered, burying my legs in the sand. "Hmm," Vincent said, and I curled my toes, watching as some couple ran and chased after each other."This really is peaceful," I muttered again, and then I felt his hands at the back of my head, gently caressing."Aren't you hungry? You barely ate inside," he said, and I pouted. "Do you want to make me fatter?" I asked and sneered. This only made him chuckle."Of course, I need you fattened up. Only then can I feel you aren't as thin as a skeleton," he said, and this made a smile curl to my lips, but something else caught my attention. It was a male and a female making out in public, their lips entwined, and he was possessively holding her waist. My cheeks reddened, and I looked away as Vincent caught my gaze."Do you want to do that?" He asked, and my lips parted to actually girl complains at him and call it just a public show of affection, but then nothing escaped from my lips.I gently looked away and licked my lips,
"Laura, I love you," I heard him whisper into my ear, and everything went silent..."Huh?" I asked, turning to gaze at him. "What did you say?" I asked and he chuckled."I said something?" He asked and I blinked my lashes, staring at him in confusion. I heard him just now? Or were those my thoughts? My ears reddened in embarrassment and I looked away."I keep hearing things today," I mumbled and he choked, hugging me tighter. I sure stared out, letting the cold breeze hit my face.Truly, if a man did love you, he would go to any length to show this! I never mentioned that to Vincent, yet he found out on his own."Hmm, let's eat, that's enough city viewing for today," he said and I nodded and pulled away from the hug, rushing to the room."What did you order?" I asked and the door dinged. I stared at it and couldn't help but squirm happily. I opened the door and the same female that welcomed us bowed down. She was holding a tray in her hands."Come in," I said and she did, catwalked in
“I’m full,” I said, and Evelyn gently rested her hand on my hair.“I hope Caspian didn’t disrupt your appetite?” she asked, and I forced a smile. “Definitely not!” I replied.Evelyn didn’t push further and let me go. As I walked off, the smile on my face darkened. I slammed the door shut and stared
Hearing her words, I didn't tremble, because she was only making assumptions and wasn't sure of her words.“Are you even okay in the head?” I asked her straight, and her smile fell.“What do you mean?” she asked, stepping closer in anger, but my left hand stretched out, stopping her midway.“You do
The camera flashes all settled on my face, yet I kept a calm look on.“Miss Mia, what happened all those years?”“Were you kidnapped, taken abroad to become a prostitute?”“Or did you run away with a man? What happened to the car you drove last?” Every reporter kept placing the mic next to my lips,
My mum didn't say a word, crying her eyes out, but Xena stepped forward. “Killed? I wouldn't do that to my sister, and neither would my mum do that to her. If we killed her, would she have even left two houses in our names? We would have gotten nothing!” she screamed back, and the crowd stopped. Sh
