Chapter 21.2: Nothing but a ghost

Once he was inside the dark room, Jake locked the door, but couldn't even bother to get to the bed. It was almost as if his body had been holding on only until he was alone. Now that there was no one around to watch him, his legs couldn't keep him standing anymore. His body slid down the door to the floor. He sat there on the cold floor, hugging his knees, trying to subdue the pain in his heart.

He wished he could stop thinking. He wanted to empty his head and heart. Not to think anything, not to feel anything.
