LOGIN“Did he really say that?!” Freesia exclaimed, her face crimson, as she was trying to suppress her laughter.
My smile faded as I remembered what happened the night before.
“Yes! It caught me off guard as well. Did I look bad last night?” I asked in astonishment.
Freesia and I are currently in a coffee shop, where we decided to have a cup of coffee. It was already afternoon when we decided to stop by because we also woke up late due to a hangover.
Desiree couldn’t join us because she had plans with her family, and Hailey is probably still sleeping because of all the alcohol she drank last night.
“Well, Flavian has been like that ever since. Intimidating and aloof. And last night wasn’t the best time for you to be interested in him.” She replied.
My brow furrowed in perplexity, “Why?”
“Well, I just found out he broke up with his girlfriend.” She said as she sipped her coffee.
“He’s got a girlfriend?” I asked in disbelief. I mean, he’s got good looks, but I didn’t think he could be in a relationship and do sweet things with his girlfriend.
“Yeah. I’ve seen the girl a few times already.”
I didn’t ask for more because I knew Free would like it if her cousin’s relationship stayed private.
“Did you fall in love with him at first sight, Amber Reign?”
As she said my name, a vivid memory flashed through my mind.
Amber Reign. How beautiful my name is and that guy didn’t even bother remembering it!
“No! I’m only interested in him.” I replied.
As I sipped my hot coffee, I remembered what happened the night before.

I didn’t stop after that. I moved closer to him and kept talking, even though he clearly wasn’t interested.
I tried everything to get his attention, even flaunting my sexy figure. I made sure to cross my legs just right, letting my milky white legs show, and leaned in a bit to highlight my cleavage.
But he didn’t even flinch.
“And you know, I’m really excited to—”
“I’m sorry, Amy… or Abby? But I’d prefer a quiet environment,” Flavian interrupted me.
“W-What? Did you just call me Amy or Abby?” I asked, completely shocked.
“Then what is your name?” he asked, sounding almost annoyed.
“I am Amber! Amber Reign Acosta! Not Amy or Abby!” I raised my voice, making sure each word was clear so he’d get it right.
Seriously, where did he get Amy or Abby?
“Look, Miss, I’m not great with names. But what I’m really trying to say is that I need some peace and quiet,” he said, trying to stay calm.
“Then go to the library!” I shot back before storming off.
Did I overreact? Maybe. But I don’t care! How dare he act like he couldn’t care less about me!

“Hello? Earth to Amber?” I was brought back to reality when Freesia waved her hand in front of me.
“What was it again?”
“What are you thinking?” she asked, her eyes as sharp as a laser. “What really happened last night?” She asked.
“Nothing more than your cousin showing disinterest.” I responded.
Of course, I’m not going to tell her how her cousin called me other names because he wasn’t paying attention when Free introduced us to them.
If I mentioned that to this girl, she’d laugh her head off.
“Was this your first time seeing him?” She wondered out loud once again.
“Well, I think so. I’d probably remember his handsome face if I saw him before,” I replied realistically.
“I remember Uncle Fortune mentioning a cooperation with the Acosta family in the past. Don’t you think the Acosta he’s talking about is your dad… or your brother?”
“Aside from us, I don’t know any Acosta. But I’m not sure because I’m not really interfering with Dad’s business. I’m not familiar with his associates.” I replied.
“No, Amber, I’m now sure it’s your father. I recall seeing them at a business event together when I went with my father.”
“Really? I should go ask my Dad about it, I had no idea.” I said.
“Because you don’t want to know anything about your company!” She chuckled.
We talked a little more, and our topic naturally shifted.
We then discussed the luxury bag that will be released tomorrow and that we intend to purchase.
“Alright, let’s get that together.”
“Sure, I’d like to add another bag to my collection!” I responded with delight.
“Maybe I can choose a bag on that brand for Flavian’s secretary, too? A farewell gift for her.” She said while biting his lips, as if she was thinking about something.
“A farewell gift?” I asked, not understanding what she said.
“Flavian’s secretary is resigning since she already wants to live together with her children in another city. That girl also worked for my mother before being appointed to be Flavian’s secretary.” She answered.
“So, Flavian needs a secretary?” I inquired.
“I believe so. This will be a time-consuming process though. He wants a secretary who isn’t a pain in the head, so everyone would go through a rigorous selection process before being chosen.” She responded.
Her phone rang just as she finished her sentence.
“Hello?” She spoke as she answered the call.
“Oh, Mom! I’m with Amber. Yes, I remembered. Alright! Let’s just meet there.”
She looked at me as she hung up the phone.
“I’m sorry, Amber, but I have to go. Today is my Mom’s spa day. I can’t cancel because she’s leaving for Bangkok tomorrow and wants to meet up with us.” She explained.
“It’s fine. I’m also going to my father’s house.” I grinned.
We asked the waiter for our bill and paid it before heading back to our cars.
An idea came to me as soon as I sat in the driver’s seat.
Flavian is looking for a secretary. Dad is a business partner of Flavian’s father. Connection.
I giggled. Things are going well for me.
“Did he really say that?!” Freesia exclaimed, her face crimson, as she was trying to suppress her laughter. My smile faded as I remembered what happened the night before.“Yes! The girls and I settle into the couch, making ourselves comfortable. I couldn’t stop glancing around the bar, hoping to catch sight of that guy from earlier…the one who made me feel things I wasn’t sure I wanted to feel. But he had vanished after our little conversation. Disappeared into the crowd without a trace.“I heard Free’s cousins are coming tonight,” Desiree says casually as she picks at an appetizer from our table.I raise an eyebrow, trying to focus on the conversation and not on my wandering thoughts. “Really? I didn’t know she was close with her paternal side,” I comment, taking a sip of my drink. “I always see her with her cousins from Aunt Fatima’s side, like Natasha.”“Well, apparently, they’re more focused on business. You know, the serious, no-nonsense types.”“Oh, so they’re boys?” Hailey chimes in.“If they are, I bet they’re middle-aged with wrinkles from sitting in an office all day,” I joke, making the girls laugh. But before I can continue with another joke, I h
“Hmm…” I make a fake moan as Cade—no, wait, maybe it was Wade—keeps kissing my neck. His warm breath fans against my skin, and I grab the back of his head, pressing him harder against me, like I’m encouraging him to take full advantage of the opportunity I’ve so generously provided. But the truth is, I’m already getting bored. This is supposed to be fun, right? A distraction? Yet, the excitement I’d hoped to find in this fleeting moment is fizzling out.His kisses are growing more eager, heading somewhere that I’m not planning to let him go. I gently pull away, slipping out of his embrace. His breathing is heavy, his hair disheveled, and I can see the lustful glint in his eyes. He thinks this is going somewhere.“Shall we continue this at my place?” he offers, a cocky smirk spreading across his lips.I chuckle. “I have plans tonight—”Before I can finish, my phone rings. Freesia’s name lights up the screen. Perfect timing.“Amber, where are you?!” Freesia’s voice is sharp on the othe
The café buzzes around me—laughter, the clinking of plates, whispers that are just loud enough to be heard. Eyes are on me, like always, but I’ve mastered the art of pretending not to notice. They watch, they whisper, but none of them know me.I look at the expensive watch on my wrist. That Marcus is already five minutes late. How dare he make me wait!“If he doesn’t show up in a minute, I’ll leave.” I whispered to myself. If it wasn’t just my father wanting me to try to date that guy who is his business partner’s son, I wouldn’t be here. The door chimes, and I glance up just in time to see Marcus approaching. He’s handsome, I’ll give him that. Tall, sharp features, and dressed in a formal attire. He looks like he’s stepped out of a high-end magazine, exactly the type my parents would approve of.But as soon as he sits down, I can feel the weight of his arrogance pressing on me. His smile is too easy, too practiced, and I already know how this is going to go.“Amber, right?” Marcus
