Chapter 24

Clyde was taken aback by Callie's request to run away home with her. To be sure she was serious about what she had just said, he gave her a long look.

From her seat, Callie could see the worry on Clyde's face and hear the thunderous thud of his heart.

After her talk with Hera the day before, she decided to leave Duncan Mills and the people who were a part of her life there so that they wouldn't get entangled in the threat between her and Althaia.

She made a fake laugh to lift Clyde's mood. "I was just kidding."

Clyde breathed a sigh of relief and burst out laughing too. "You got me there for a second."

Callie grinned and locked her gaze on Clyde. "But, if what I've said is true... Are you going to do that for me?"

Clyde laughed and leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. "You wouldn't do that, Callie. I know you cherish your parents and would never hurt their feelings."
