ALICE'S POV

Mom was behaving so strange.

That was all I could think about as I stared out of the glass wall of the penthouse for hours now, while I waited for Ace's call. It was already night but he still did not call. This was causing me anxiety.

On the contrary, I thought about all possible reasons behind Mom's behaviour but nothing made sense to me.

Her face from earlier flashed in front of my eyes and another wave of curiosity and worry hit me at the same time. She looked so afraid.

Of what? That was the ultimate question in my mind. What was she so afraid off?

My chain of thoughts broke when I heard the sound of the penthouse's door opening. I was in the living room so I turned my head around to glance towards the door.
