Chapter 4

Caroline’s POV

“Good morning mam.” Lucy greeted me as soon as I entered the Martinez’s Company.

“Morning Lucy,” I said with a small smile as I walked towards the elevator.

I got out of the elevator as soon as I reached my floor while I took a sip of my coffee. I opened the door of my office and I saw someone standing in front of the glass wall. The person turned after he heard the door opening.

“Mr. Wright,” I said as I walked towards my table.

“Good morning, Ma’am.” He greeted with a smile. His glass reflects the sunlight coming from the glass wall.

“You are on time, Mr. Wright. I am glad we dint bump again.” I said with a teasing smile, as I kept my bag and coffee on the table. He cleared his throat awkwardly which made my smile grow more.

“I know I have already apologized but I am sorry for bumping into you yesterday.” He said sincerely while adjusting his glasses before continuing, “And I also wanted to ask on what basis have you selected me?”

I raised my eyebrows at him to which he said, “I mean I am thankful and happy to be selected and be a part of this company. I just wanted to know, did you select me to embarrass me for yesterday’s incident or something.”

“Mr. Wright, I am this company’s CEO and your boss. I selected you because I thought you are fit for the requirement and if you are thankful for this job, prove it through your work.” I said and sat on my chair. I selected Samael because I thought he would fit for the job as he also has the experience and about the fact that I selected him to embarrass him, well that’s just complimentary.

Even before Samael could reply or say anything, the office door opened and someone entered my office. Without knocking only one person enters my office, I rolled my eyes and signed.

“Good morning, Caroline! How are you?” my uncle, Victor Martinez said with a huge smile on his face. He is in his mid-forties with brown hair and brown eyes.

“Uncle Victor. Good morning and I am fine, thank you.” I said with a small smile. He then realized that someone is there in the room. Uncle Victor and Samael looked at each other before I spoke.

“This is Victor Martinez, my uncle and this is Samael Wright, my assistant.” I introduced them and they a handshake.

“Mr. Wright, the room next to my office is yours. Please wait for them until I call you.” I said to Samael to which he nodded his head and left the room.

“He is the new one.” Uncle Victor stated as he sat in front of me.

“Yeah, it’s his first day,” I told uncle Victor.

“Hm, I just thought of coming here and meeting my niece. And also wanted to tell you that I and your aunt are going to London tomorrow.”

“Okay, that’s great. Have a nice trip.” I said as I drank my coffee.

“Caroline, your aunt was thinking if you would want to join us?”

“I don’t think so, uncle Victor. I have a lot of work right now and so maybe meeting to attain.” I said honestly with a shrug to which he gave me a weak smile.

“Shane, use to say the same whenever we planned anything.” He said and I nodded. My father was a workaholic but he never forgot to give me and mom enough time. But for the rest of the family, it was a different case.

“I am sure,” I said as I looked into the space.

Samael’s POV

As soon as I entered the room, I was hit was mint’s smell. The room is pretty big, with cream color walls, a huge window with light yellow curtains, a table with chairs, some artificial plants, and a sofa. There was also a door on the right side of the room which I assume is the washroom.

I took out my laptop and kept it on the table, putting my phone on the charger I opened the curtains. Ms. CEO dint give me any work for now so I decided to go to the cafeteria and have some coffee.

Taking the elevator, I went to floor 10^th which is dedicated to the cafeteria. I see a few people who were taking something to eat and drink but no one was sitting and having it, everyone just took it and went back to the elevators.

“Hello, can I get a hot coffee please?” I asked the old lady standing at the counter.

“Sure, by the way, you can call me Naomi just like everyone.” She said with a warm smile which I returned and said, “Thank you, Naomi. I am Samael, Ms. Martinez’s assistant.”

She smiled with a nod and handed me my hot coffee. I thanked her and turned to leave. There was no one sitting on the chairs except one man. He looks in his late-twenties with curly brown hair and brown eyes that were looking at his phone’s screen, a plate of pasta and a glass of juice sat in front of him. I decided to talk to him and walked towards him.

“Hello, may I sit here?” I asked politely.

“Sure, you can.” He replied and I took a seat in front of him.

“I am Samael Wright, Ms. Martinez’s assistant. It’s nice to meet you” I introduced myself.

“Cool. I am James Maxwell, one of the accountants. Nice to meet you too, Samael.”

“Why is no one sitting here and having their food or drinks?” I asked out of curiosity as I took a sip of my coffee. It is nice but a little too hot.

“Ha! That’s because they don’t have time for it. It’s just so much work, but I love that at least we have one hour of lunchtime. It’s almost packed in the lunch hour. Today I was so late, I didn’t have the time for breakfast. So, this is me alone in the cafeteria sitting and having my breakfast. Well, not alone anymore.” He said with a chuckle to which I smiled. He seems a nice and easy-going, person.

“That’s nice. It’s my first day of the job so when I entered the cafeteria, it was a bit wired.” I said honestly.

“Happens. But it’s so much fun to work here. Everything is amazing and everyone is amazing, except our CEO when you have not completed your work. Otherwise, she is pretty okay. Don’t worry, you are going to love here.” He said and stuffed his mouth with the pasta.

“I hope so,” I said with a hopeful smile on my face as I continued to drink my coffee. After we finished, we exchanged our numbers and decided to meet during lunch where I said he would introduce me to some of his friends and colleagues.

After an hour, Ms. CEO called me and told me what I had to do and the day went by nicely. I met a few people who have introduced my James and got to know some amazing people. As it was my first day, Ms. CEO dint give me a lot of work. After I went home, I prepared food for Ella and myself. We talked for a while about our day and went to sleep.
