Caroline’s POV
This business trip to London is one of the longest ones, most of the business trips I do are for two to three days but this one is going to be four to five days, as I am going to do more meetings with all the huge companies to tie them with us. I have got a few presentations done by myself and a few by Samael.
As soon as I reach the parking lot of the airport, Peter took my luggage with him as we enter the airport. I spot Samael and a girl around 10-years-old, who I assume is his sister. She is wearing jeans and a yellow top, and her blonde hair were tied in a ponytail as she looks at me with her green eyes, curiously. Samael waves his hand at me as I walk towards them. He is wearing a peach t-shirt with a black jacket and black pants. He looks good in casual as I have always seen him in formals.
“Good morning, Ms. Martinez.” Samael greets me with a smile as soon as I reach them and sit on one of the chairs, in front of him.
“Good morning, Mr. Wright.” I greet him back as I lean back on the chair while I look at the smiling girl beside him.
“Ah, this is my sister Ella.” He notices my gaze on her and introduces her to me.
“Hi, I am Ella wright. It’s nice to meet you, Ms. Martinez.” she introduced herself to me with a raised hand and we shake our hands.
“Hello, Ella. It’s nice to meet you too and you can call me Caroline, sweetheart.” I said with a smile and she blushes at the nickname.
“Okay, Caroline! Thank you for allowing me to come with you, I am so excited to go to London!” she said with enthusiasm and I am impressed by the way she talks. She looks just like a 10-year-old but talks like a mature person.
“Are you, now? It’s great to hear, Ella.” I question her playfully and smile when she nods her head at me. It feels nice to interact with a 10-year-old as I don’t get a chance to speak with children. It’s refreshing.
I look at Samael and see him watching Ella with a soft smile. One thing I can pick from his expression is that he loves and cares about his sister. It’s nice to have someone care for you, I once had but I don’t. But why do I care? I don’t.
***
We land in London around 7 pm, so we go straight to our hotel and take the keys to our rooms. Peter in one room, me in another, and Samael with his sister in the opposite room of mine. I take a hot bath to relax from the ten-hour flight I just landed from and then change into something comfortable, like grey pants and an off-white oversized sweatshirt.
I heard someone knocking on the door of my room and I opened it to find Samael sanding on the other side. He was now wearing a grey t-shirt and track pants his hair was wet indicating he had taken a shower. He looked at me and smiled when he took in my outfit, probably because he saw me for the first time in something rather than formals.
“Ella and Peter left just a few minutes ago.” He informed me and I just gave him a nod. Taking my key card, I slipped it in the pocket of my pants and we walked towards the elevator waiting for it to reach our floor. Samael cleared his throat and I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. he visibly gulped before speaking.
“I wanted to apologize for everything that I said to you last time. I am sorry, Ms. Martinez. It was very wrong of me to speak to you the way I did, but I was worried about Ella and I know that’s not an excuse. Honestly, I thought I lost my job after that, but thank you for not firing me.” He said nervously in one breath as he scratched the back of his neck, while his hazel eyes bored into my blue once.
“Oh, I was going to fire you, Mr. Wright,” I said folding my hands and narrowing my eyes at him before continuing, “And I would like to warn you that if that happens again, I won’t think twice before firing you from my company.”
“Yes, I would keep that in mind,” he replied and when the elevator’s door opened, we saw a young couple in the elevator standing holding their hands as they smile at each other. I rolled my eyes at them and there was tension in the air as soon as we entered the elevator. The elevator was not huge and preferably only for five people at a time. I was able to smell Samael’s cologne which smelled minty-earthy ish and his body’s warmth as he stood behind me.
The elevator stopped at a floor and an older woman entered the elevator. I felt Samael’s breath on my neck as my hair was tied in a messy bun and a shiver ran down my spine. My breath hitched when I turned around to look at him. I didn’t realize we were so close until then, as he looked down at me. His hazel eyes looked beautiful up close and I never noticed how handsome he is. My breathing became shallow and my eyes fluttered as he gazed at them.
I non-intentionally bit on my lower lip and his eyes went to my lips within a second. I saw him gulp and clench his jaw before his eyes snapped back at my eyes. The elevator’s ding brought me back to reality as the elevator stopped. The older women got out with us from the elevator and I took a long breath to compose myself as I was breathing unevenly.
“Are you okay?” Samael asked me and I cleared my throat before replying to him.
“Fine,” I said and he kept looking at me for a few moments before we walked towards the dining area to have our dinner. I mentally scolded myself for behaving like this and subsided the foreign feeling that arose for Samael.
‘Stupid, Caroline!’
Samael’s POV The dinner went well as Ella kept talking with me, Caroline and Peter. Peter seemed like the serious guy at first to me but with Ella, he was joking and smiling around. Caroline was silent most of the dinner as she made few conversations with Ella, but nothing more. After we had our dinner, everyone went to their rooms and Caroline dint spare me another glance. “I am going to take a bath, I am tired,” Ella said as she searched for her clothes. “Okay” I replied and I went to stand on the balcony of our room after I heard the bathroom door close. I took a deep breath as I remembered what happened in the elevator with Caroline a few hours ago. It was the first time we were standing so close to each other I was able to feel her body’s warmth while she stood in front of me. When she turned and looked at me, I was so lost in her blue eyes that I forgot to breathe. They looked different up close that was more beautiful than befo
Caroline’s POV Knock, Knock I got up from the sound of knocking. I looked at my phone and it was currently 1:47 am, I frowned thinking who might that be this late. Getting out of the bed I walked towards the door and switched on the lights before opening the door. “Ella?” I saw her standing with worry laced on her face and her eyes teary. “Ella, what are you doing here darling? It’s so late, where is Samael?” I asked her as I frowned and looked behind her to find no one with her. “Caroline, I – I don’t know what to do. I woke up and I was alone. I got afraid when I dint see Sama anywhere and I don’t know where he is.” She said and her voice was so small that I could barely hear what she was saying. I decided to take her to her room and then talk with her. I took my phone from the bedside table before walking towards her and switching off the lights. “Come on, let’s go to your room,” I said softly and we went t
Caroline’s POV Today was an important day for our company. the meeting was going to start in a few minutes, all the other CEOs from various companies were in the room meeting each other. I was meeting everyone around with Samael behind me. “Everything is according to planned?” I asked him once we were alone without looking at him. I was a little stressed, with someone stealing from my company and we losing our client had made me worried and stressed. James has not found the person who was taking the company’s money, yet. And these meetings were more than important for the company’s wellbeing. “Yes, everything is set accordingly. Should we start the meeting?” Samael asked and I turned to look at him. He was wearing formals and his glasses again. “Yes, I guess,” I answered after taking a look at my watch. It was time for the presentation. “Don’t worry, we are going to get all the deals.” He assured with a confident smile on his
Samael’s POVI was angry, angry at myself and Shane. How dare he fucking call me and threatened me about Ella. I was so angry or more like livid. Shane and Mia want to meet Ella and take her with them. They never treated her like their daughter, I was there for her whenever she cried or needed help with something. I was there for her to love her and care for her, they both never bothered. And now, as I have Ella’s custody, they want her back with them. I would never let my sister live with those monsters. Never.I saw the confusion and questions written on Caroline’s face but couldn’t open up to her. When she held my hand in the elevator, I just wanted to tell her everything. But I held myself and tried to just give her a weak smile that I was fine or will be fine. After we reached in front of our door, she pulled her hand out of my grip, and suddenly I felt cold. I wanted her hand back in my hand and I wanted her to be close to
Caroline’s POVI don’t know why but knowing that Samael has never had a girlfriend made me feel good somehow. It’s also hard to digest that a 25-years-old man has never had a woman in his life ever, but the fact that Samael dint exactly gave a reason made me curious somehow. He ended the conversation as he didn’t want to say anymore but I felt like there was more. Then again, it’s none of my business to know about him, but he makes me curious and sometimes it feels like I have to know about him. “Wow! It’s so amazing!” Ella said as we walked towards the British Museum. She was walking with Samael while I and Peter walked just behind them. I saw Peter looking at his phone with a frown and a sad expression.“What is it, Peter?” I asked him with an eyebrow raised.“Um, nothing Caroline. Don’t worry.” Peter turned his gaze at me and shoved his phone in his po
The museum was beautiful and amazing. Ella enjoyed it a lot as she gasped every second whenever she saw something new or different. We came out of the museum around six in the evening. The sky was shades of orange indicating the sunset. Carline bought some donuts and churros for us as we headed towards London bridge. We found a place and parked the car, getting out we were able to see the amazingly beautiful sight in front of us, of London bridge as the sunsets.“WOW!” Ella chuckled surprised at the beautiful sight in front of her.“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Caroline asked with a smile and Ella nodded at her as they both gazed at the sight in front of us. Her blonde hair was open, the light breeze making them flow back and my heartbeat speeds up. Her blue eyes shined as she took in the sight in front of her. Her lips stretched into a beautiful soft smile melting my heart.“Yeah, absolutely beautiful,” I whispered
Caroline’s POVHow did that happen? I haven’t talked about my parents in so many years to anyone. As soon as I utter about them, all the memories came back, and I went to the washroom to calm myself down. After dinner, we went to our hotel and bid our goodnights. Ella hugged me before she walked into her room with Samael, and Peter came and hugged me.“It’s okay,” he said and patted my back with a smile, and I know what he was talking about. I gave him a tight looped smile with a nod and went into my room as he went in his.I took a long bath to clear my head and compose myself. I wore my nightdress and walked into my room. I switched off the lights and sat on the sofa that’s on the balcony. I felt calm and relaxed as I gazed outside. I had a beautiful city view from the balcony and the silence which is like music to my ears. Suddenly I heard a knock on my door and I frown. Who would be, this late? gett
I don’t know what came over me when I say she looked beautiful. Tough, I was honest, the way her smile spilled from her face made me think I said something wrong. I dint meant to say it out loud, I thought I said it in my head.“Why are you nervous, Sama?” Ella asked me as we both sat in front of each other, having our breakfast. I was ready for the meeting already, wearing black trousers, a light blue shirt, and black formal shoes.“I am not nervous, Ella,” I tell her and continued to have my breakfast, while she eyed me and tried to find the answer to her question.“Yes, you are. It is because of the presentation that you are supposed to present?” She asked and I sighed as I finished my breakfast.“Yeah, something like that,” I muttered and saw her giving me a nod.“Well, don’t worry. I know my brother is going to do amazing!” she said with a grin on her face which made me sm
