Chapter Thirty-Nine

Finally, I reached the cabin. It was small and quaint, nestled at the base of a hill. The front door was open, a invitation to come inside. With a deep breath, I stepped inside. The air smelled of pine and wood smoke, and there was a cozy fire crackling in the fireplace. I called out her name, my voice soft and uncertain. There was no answer, then an older woman appeared from the back, she was watching me, her hazel eyes held mine.

"You won't find your Azalea here, child. She went back to your pack." She said softly then went into the kitchen and began setting the table for two.

"Who are you?" I asked her as I watched her busy herself in the kitchen."I'm Glenda, child. I'm a hybrid werewolf who owns the local Inn where your Azalea was staying up until recently. Oh that girl, she's one tough cookie, that one." She said as she spoke of Azalea.

"How do you know who I am?" I asked and she looked at me, wrapping her long finger nails around a blue talisman.
