Chapter Two-

*First Person's Perspective*

~Amanda~

The soft beeping of the monitor beside me was enough to pull me out of Dreamland, I turned my head to the opposite direction, and groggily opened my eyes. The throbbing pain in my head, a reminder of the nightmare I had come to face yesterday. My body jolted upright the moment I remembered why I was here in the first place.

"Hey, Amanda. You're awake" Emily's soft voice said, her hands gently pressing on my shoulders to ease me back down . "What happened?" I asked, tightly grabbing on her hand, "What happened to my baby? Is he okay? Is he alright?" My voice shook and Emily's calm expression faltered for a moment

Emily was Carlo's little sister. And even though she was just sixteen years old, she was still my very good friend, she understood me very much

"I'm sorry, Amanda, I'm sorry, but he didn't make it" she turned her gaze away and I could see her struggling to hold back her tears. I went numb for a few seconds, and then everything sank in. Hot tears rolled down my eyes. The crushing weight of everything pressed upon my chest.

"Why me?" I asked no one in particular. Emily pulled me into a tight embrace as we both shed tears of grief. We stayed that way for about three minutes, before the creaking sound of the door met our ears and we pulled away from each other

The doctor stepped in, followed by Carlos and Saraya. I stared at both of them with so much hate and disgust. I wanted to make them feel pain, to hurt them. I wanted to feel what I was feeling right now

"Mrs Amanda, I'm sorry...." The doctor started but I raised my palm. "I don't want to hear it" I said to him, tears still streaming down my eyes. He looked confused, but then shrugged and walked out. "I'll leave you all to yourselves, if you need anything, I'm just a call away" the moment the door clicked shut behind him, Saraya's chuckles could be heard in the silent room

All I did was nod my head, of course, she would be amused, I mean, why wouldn't she?

"I didn't know," Carlos said after a long time of silence. I laughed drily

"Babe! Why do you seem sad? We should be thankful, shouldn't we? At least, you wouldn't have anything joining the both of you anymore" Saraya responded as she clung onto his arm. He turned to her with a smile and my stomach coiled

"I know, but it's still my child" he answered and she scoffed. "You shouldn't worry about that, we're having a child together, remember?" And that was when I had enough

Before anyone could realize it, I was out of the bed and landed a slap across Carlos's face. "You bastard! How dare you? How dare you do this to me? It is all your fault, all I ever did was love you. Why did you do this to me?" I cried as I struggled to hit him, Emily held me back. She tried to pull me away from him

"You're insane, Amanda. What is wrong with you?" Saraya said, pushing me away. That child was a miracle. After several years of trying, after several years of waiting, after being told almost all the time that I was barren and useless. This is how it ends?

Saraya called security and they rushed in and dragged me away even when Emily protested and said I wasn't in a good condition.

I sat in their unit for about thirty minutes before a nurse came over and informed me that the doctor needed my attention

I took a sit in front of him and there was silence for a few minutes before he cleared his throat and spoke

"What!"

"What!"

Emily and I chorused at the news. They were going to put me in a psychiatric hospital because I was being 'Crazy'

I tried to tell him otherwise but the doctor just wasn't listening, he claimed that due to the loss of my child, I became mentally unstable

"You can't do that. I..." I was saying but he cut me off. "Yes I can, and I have" After that statement, two hefty men came into the office and dragged me out. I met with Carlos and Saraya on the way

"Leave her alone" Emily rushed forward, but Carlos grabbed her arm before she could reach me. Saraya had a smirk on her face and I needed no genius to let me know that they were behind this, all of it

"What is going on? Carlos, she's your wife" that was the last thing I heard, before being shoved into the van and the door slammed shut

Betraying me wasn't enough for him, he had to make my life more miserable than it already was

~~~
"Get out!" I had closed my eyes to sleep, having resigned myself to my fate, but the voice I heard jolted me awake. "What?" I asked, seemingly surprised and they all turned to me like I had suddenly developed large horns. "I said get out," he repeated. To say I was confused is an understatement. "Why? What happened?" I asked, one might think I was crazy to be asking such questions, but they had just stopped in the middle of nowhere, in a place unfamiliar to me and were asking me to go out. It was unexpected
"If she's not going to go, we should do with her as we please, Amarni," I heard someone from the back saying. "No, that was not the order" the guy I now knew to be Amarni, said
Without hesitation, I jumped out of the van and turned around to look at them one more time to be very sure. He nodded, gesturing to me that it was alright, I began to walk straight ahead of me.
The whole place was deserted and filled with nothing but bushes and twigs. As I walked away in hurried footsteps. I heard the engine of the van roar and only when I turned did I notice that it was coming at me at high speed. Without hesitation, I took to my heels, heels digging into the ground, my hands pumping rapidly in a desperate frenzy to propel me further
It was a trap. They wanted me dead and all of this was just a scheme to hide their main goal. To make it look like I died in an accident
As I ran for my dear life, tears trickled down my eyes. The memories of happiness we once shared played in my head and I couldn't help the loud scream that bursted out of my chest. Is that how fast it was for love to turn to hate?
I turned my head around to see that they were closing in on me. The next minute, I heard a loud bang, but I didn't let that deter me, if for anything, it made me run faster, until I couldn't anymore
My legs wobbled beneath me and eventually, I fell to the ground. And that's when I felt it. The sharp pain at my back. Blood gushed out of my body and all I could do was cry. I had been shot
I rolled around, my hand placed on my waist as I cried
They sped past me, but stopped a few meters away
Amarni walked out of the van and hovered above me for a couple of minutes. He looked like he was debating within himself
"I'm sorry,Missy. But I'm only following orders" that said, he pushed me off the road which was built on a cliff. The last thing I heard was the anguished scream that flew out my throat before darkness closed in on me
I felt really nervous as I pulled up in the driveway, thinking about the reaction I would get from him.A small smile appeared on the corners of my lips as I imagined the smile on his face when I dropped the news.My mind was preoccupied with the different ways that I could drop the news to him, maybe over a special dinner? That sounds just right. However, as I walked into our not so big, but decent apartment, I heard voices, soft little whispers and laughter, coming from the direction of our bedroom, this made my brows creased in confusion.
