She Is That Friend!

Lucas POV

"I want that woman out of my company."

"You can't fire Hannah, she's the only person who knows everything about your company." Denver said as he poured my glass another shot of whiskey and handed me the glass.

After I walked Naomi to their apartment, I decided to go home and summoned Denver just to tell him that I want to remove Hannah from my company since she almost ruined my plan. I saw how devastated Naomi was after Hannah walked out on her, thinking that she didn't got the job.

Which made me also think that Naomi will take back her words in agreeing to be my girlfriend. If that really happened, I am not only going to fire Hannah, but I will ask my men to abduct her and torture her till she repent and die afterwards.

"That woman walked to Naomi in the middle of the interview, you think I would tolerate such an act like that in my company?"

"I know, I was there." Denver said as he sat next to me. "I was upset too, that's why I warned her after the interview and she said sorry for what she did."

"One more time, if she does something unlikable towards Naomi, I would go and fire her on my own." I threatened but Denver just chuckled and shook his head.

"You're not going to do that. You'll blow up your identity."

"Psh! As if I'm scared to show the world who I am." I scoffed.

"Yeah you're not afraid to let them know your identity, but are you ready for Naomi's reaction?" Denver asked. I stopped for a moment, looked at him with unexplainable emotions.

He's right, I'm not ready about that. I don't want Naomi to know the real me, or she'll push me away in her life since she doesn't want rich people to associate with her because she thinks that all they brought with them are troubles and problems about money.

"Just.." I paused and sigh. "Tell her to act right if she still wants her job." I said as I finished my drink before standing on my feet and walked to the staircase.

"Lucas." Denver called, which made me halt my steps and look over my shoulder. "You have to study all the files I sent to your mail, there is some irregular activity in one of your branches, don't worry. I already asked someone to keep an eye on that branch and if he found anything, I will report it to you."

"If it's needed to reprimand them, then I'm giving you permission to do it." I said and continued on my way upstairs.

It's really annoying if one of my men wanted more power so they would do anything just to get what they want, which by means, doing irregularities like stealing money and stuff. I don't have time to deal with those greedy assholes that's why I let Denver take care of everything. But if they need my permission to kill them, they would ask me first. In which I don't hesitate to give them that because if you betrayed me then you don't have any choice but to die.

As I got inside my room, I jumped on my bed and fished out my phone to call Naomi. Within just one ring, Naomi picked up.

"Hello, who is this?" She asked and that's when I realized that it's wrong to call her since she didn't lend me her number and I just got it from her résumé which would give her confusion on how I got it so I immediately hung up and slapped my forehead.

"Damn Lucas, that was close." I scolded myself. I let out a sharp breath and threw my phone behind me before I rolled out of my bed and went to the bathroom to have a cold shower.

While I was under the cold water running from my luxury designed shower, I started to feel sad that I won't be able to see Naomi every morning in the same coffee shop and behind the counter, she's not going to make me coffee again and it's really saddened me. But on the other hand, she's now my girlfriend and I can start pursuing her to make her love me and marry me soon.

That thought alone sends shivers down my spine and I smiled without even being aware that I'm smiling like a dork. I should ask for her number tomorrow because tomorrow will be her last day in that coffee shop and I will give up the city library. I will focus more on my company and every business that I have.

________

The lights of my car shine as smudged stars, the wintry mist cold upon my skin from the open window on my side. As the journey passes, sunlight rouses more colours from their sleepy monochrome and, though the road still has the black look of night, the sky is already more bluish than charcoal. I parked in front of the city library and got out. I looked at myself using the heavy tint of my window car and fixed my eyeglass.

"Morning!"

"Shit!" I exclaimed when Naomi spoke behind me. I immediately turned around and saw her looking at me then to the car behind me with furrowed eyebrows. "H-hey, good morning, w-what are you doing here t-this early?" I asked, stuttering.

"Just wanna drop by." She shrugged as her eyes still focused on the car behind me. "Did you just get out of this car?" She asked suspiciously.

"Actually, I was just checking this car. It's been here since last night and when I was going to knock, I noticed that it was open so I checked but there's no one inside." I lied and hoped she would bite it.

"You should not open cars without the owner's permission, they might think you're trying to steal from them." She scolded me but I felt relieved instead. "Anyway, are you not going to order a cup of coffee? This might be the last time I will serve you a cup of cappuccino." She smiled that her eyes turned crescent and that's the most beautiful sight from my eyes.

"Yeah about that, I think I'm too early because the shop is still closed when I pass by." I said, staring at her hard because her smiles made me feel something inside me that I couldn't name.

"Oh so you're too early then." She chuckled as she clung her arm on mine. "Let's go back to the shop so I will have my first customer for today." She giggled and we both walked back to the coffee shop.

I don't know if it's only me or Naomi is really giddy this early morning? Is it because she already got her dream job? But it's not possible since I told Denver to call Naomi later this afternoon after her shift just to make sure that Naomi would take the call.

Nevertheless, I like how Naomi feels so safe while clinging to my arm, as if we have been in a relationship for a long time and she's already comfortable with me. What more could I ask? This is what I've been waiting for since the night I saw her outside of my bar.

Naomi used the backdoor of the shop while I waited for her in front. She had already changed into her uniform when she appeared in my sight. I would miss her seeing in those clothes to be honest.

She opened the entrance and just like what she was always doing to me. She bowed her head and greeted me and just like how I will always stand in front of her and say my order.

"One cappuccino." I chuckled. It looks ridiculous but if being ridiculous means being with Naomi, then I'm not gonna complain.

"One cup of cappuccino coming right up, please take your seat and I'll just serve it later." She said while giggling before walking behind the counter and starting making my coffee.

I sat on my favourite spot but this time, I wasn't looking outside because I much prefer to watch my girlfriend doing her job so perfectly. Then I heard the backdoor open and a man came in.

"Good morning Naomi." He greeted and I felt dismayed at how Naomi greeted him back with the same smile she had me this morning.

"So how's the interview yesterday?" He asked. I decided to look outside the window but still listen to their conversation.

"That woman walked out on me." Even if I don't look at Naomi, I know she's frowning. "But I believe that I will get the job." She added and this time I turned to look at her and I didn't regret it when I saw her smiling as she stole a glance at me. The guy noticed it and so he looked at my table with a grin on his lips. Then he suddenly wrapped his arm around Naomi's shoulder.

I was about to stand up but Naomi immediately removed it. "Come on, I'm holding this cup." She hissed as she made her way to me. "Here's your order, Sir." She put it down carefully with a wide smile on her lips.

"Thank you." I returned the smile.

"Welcome." She replied and walked back behind the counter. The guy next to her, still looking at me and Naomi back and forth, still has that smug smirk on the corner of his lips.

"So Naomi, do you have plans after your shift?" He asked. "I was planning to go to the free market, do you want to go with me?" I looked outside again so I didn't see Naomi's reaction. She seemed excited upon hearing it and I was so disappointed and pissed off.

"I would love to go!" Naomi squealed excitedly. I sipped on my coffee before abruptly stood up from my chair and walked towards the exit. "Uh thank you for coming, please continue coming in here." Naomi said before I left their shop. She asked me to go here where I don't have any reason to drop by.

I decided to open the city library and spent the rest of Naomi's shift hours inside while scanning all the files that Denver sent me last night when suddenly, the door swung open and there's a group of young men entered, they were so loud and they are distracting other students who just want to read their books peacefully.

"It's a library not a cafeteria." I said but those young men ignored me as they continued laughing while eating their snacks. One of them even spilled his juice on the floor. I shut my eyes and let out a sigh to calm myself but with their loud voices, calming me ain't gonna work this time.

So I closed my laptop and stood up and walked around my table to approach them. "If you're going to disturb these students, I suggest you all get out." I said in a calm voice.

"What if we don't want to? What are you gonna do?" One guy said challengingly, his left leg folded and her foot on the clean chair.

"Put your foot down on the floor." I said in gritted teeth but the asshole pulled his other foot up and he looked at me mockingly to pissed me off. "Okay then." I sigh as I walk towards the door and lock it. I could feel everyone's gaze at me but these idiots didn't give me any choice. After I locked it, I removed my eyeglass and gave it to the student on my way. He was confused but still held it for me.

"Whoa, we got a tiger here." A guy with orange hair said that I guess he's the leader of their trashy group. Then he nodded at his friends, they stood up and met me halfway. A guy with blue hair was about to hold my shoulder but I quickly grabbed it as I turned him around and brutally wrenched his arm behind him, kicked the back of his knee which knocked him on his knees and I smashed his face on the floor and sent him unconscious.

Everyone inside gasped exaggeratedly, some even screamed but I just looked up to the rest of the idiots while still holding their friend's face on the floor. "Yeah, you got a tiger and you messed with the wrong one." I smirked.

They all flinched when I stood up and started running away. They picked up their friends and left the place in a rush. I then turned to all the students left inside who's still in shock from what happened.

"Sorry about it." I apologised and bowed my head at them before taking back my eyeglass from the nerdy boy and walked back to my table to continue my work like nothing happened.

"That was cool." A woman approached and she offered her hand in front of me, which blocked my view from my laptop. "Hi, I'm Jamie." She introduced herself with her heart shaped lips stretching widely.

I just stared at her and tried to remember where I'd seen this lady, then it popped into my mind. The night I first saw Naomi outside of my bar while helping her friend. She is that friend! Damn it! Now how am I going to continue to hide my identity as a weak nerd if one of her friends saw me smash that guy's face.
