Chapter 47: The Echoes of Darkness

Sasha and Alec pressed on, their footsteps echoing off the damp walls of the cavern. The darkness seemed to pulse around them, thick and suffocating, as if it had a life of its own. Alec's grip on Sasha's hand tightened, the only reassurance amid the oppressive gloom.

"We need to find a way out of here," Sasha said, her voice barely more than a whisper. "I don't like the feel of this place."

Alec nodded, his jaw set with determination. "Agreed. Let's keep moving, but stay close. We don't know what's lurking in these shadows."

As they ventured deeper into the cavern, the darkness seemed to close in around them, swallowing the light from their lantern and enveloping them in an impenetrable blackness. Sasha's heart hammered in her chest, each beat echoing loudly in the silence of the cavern.

Suddenly, a faint glimmer of light caught Sasha's eye up ahead. She stopped in her tracks, squinting into the darkness to get a better look. Alec followed her gaze, his breath catching in his throat
