It was drizzling and the air was hot like someone was waving a fan across from a bonfire to make it bigger, and felt like the heat from it was touching the face of the one sitting before it— Violet woke up with this feeling. She mopped the back of her hand on her forehead and sat up straight with a hiss.

Her hair was sticking all over her neck and face. Her forehead was hot and the room was literally making her feel like she was sitting in a preheated large oven. Without wasting a second, she leapt for the bottle of water she kept beside her mattress in case she felt parched in the middle of the night.

Since she was jittery to go down to the kitchen, she kept a bottle beside her which had somehow rolled over to the side, near a table with two rows of drawers on it.

Violet huffed because the water wasn't any better. It was lukewarm. She dropped the idea of sprinkling cool water on her face to feel better. With a sigh, she put the bottle aside and lifted her hair to make a pony.
