Azalea sat beside her mother with a bowl of water, and pieces of dry cloth to clean her body. Hama's state of health had deteriorated over the past months, that she could barely lift her body again. Trying various herbs she had learnt from her mother to cure symptoms like hers had been used, but her condition never seemed to get better, which broke Azalea's heart so much.
Within her, was a great immeasurable fear that grew by the day, as she watched her mother lose weight and remain on a spot all day. When she had told her mother any exciting news about their new hope of living through the next week, Hama only had a weak smile with so much forced effort on her face to encourage her daughter. Her body was so weak and empty, that she could feel it with every inch of her. During the past years, Hama had always prepared various types of wild herbs, to manage the sickness she had hidden for so long. The poison she had thought would have killed her a long time before now, had finally overpowered her at the later time and that, she was thankful for. Never could she forget the day her body system became poisoned, and all those who had been shot by the same laced arrow, either died on the spot or on the run. But due to her deep knowledge about medicine, she had managed to keep herself for more years, even if she had to endure the pain. Azalea who was oblivious to all this bothered all day, and continued to think of positive ways and method of new herbs to help Hama get better. "How come you never have a tailed end of hair," Giselle asked Azalea as they walked together in the market, drawing the attention of the two other girls. Giselle was a petite young girl, who had a short ginger coloured hair and cute chubby cheeks. Her hair was always cut short because of the hereditary hair growth system in her family. Their hairs never grew past their chins. The other two girls Maude and Sabina who were cousins, both had thick, black, long hairs and round bodies. Maude had a high nose bridge and thin lips, while Sabina was had a round nose and fuller lips."A tailed hair?" Azalea asked, without a full understanding of what Giselle had pointed out."See both Maude's and Sabina's hair, they are both penciled and of unequal length at the top, like an horse tail. While yours are always straight like you cut them regularly or something," she noted, and turned to face the two cousins who nodded in agreement to her observation."I do, cut it everytime," she answered truthfully, running her hand along the curled lines of her thick hair."What!!" The three exclaimed suddenly and simultaneously, which had her taken aback by their sudden outburst. It was a compulsive action that probably did not require the way they had overreacted."Is there any reason why you cut it? Don't you like to keep your hair? How often do you need to cut it everytime?" Were the questions they had asked almost at once hurriedly, because her hair still appeared longer than a standard length.Azalea watched the curious looks on her friends faces and wondered if she could them the truth, about how her hair grew super long and fast in just few days. How tired and stressed of it she was."I just meant to say trim, and not cut," she quickly corrected, making them even more confused. They wondered if there was really any young lady that had the luxury of time, to trim her hair every single day and time. But they believed her anyway, and the four friends continued their way into the market. They had met in the market and always dispersed there too in the evening. It was just more of a company friendship to Azalea, and she made sure to maintain that boundary, as her mother had always said all the time. "Well, you said you knew where we could get those medicinal herbs, right?" Azalea asked Maude, diverting their attention from the previous talk they just had."Yeah, but it's quite far. What do you want to use it for anyways? My aunt used it when she was bedridden after she fell sick.""I am trying to excel better in my skills, of putting all herbs of such together and making sure to see, if they can work better together without any adverse effect," she explained to them, not wanting to divulge too much information. She had never talked about her mother, family or where she lived before. And she was glad they had not made a big issue out if it."You are quite intelligent, Azalea. I think you are really good at things you do," Giselle said, and the cousins both nodded, in agreement with what she had said."I'm just curious to things. It is nothing much," she said and turned to look at the part they were to take, "Now you can lead the way, noble, lady Maude," she bowed, flipping the hem of her dress to the right with her left hand, and showing the direction of the way to them with right hand, which made them chuckle at her mimick. Azalea watched carefully the part they had followed through the city, the places she had not gone to before or that no one had told her about. The three friends chattered lightly with she following at the back, and taking note of every route closely. She was not paying attention what they were saying. They came across the brick bridge they were to walk on, and noticed that it was unusually higher than the others they had always seen. Maude suddenly stopped and gave a surprised scream, making the others wonder what had astonished her."Wow, see the palace over there," she said excitedly, with a marvelled expression on her face, "This is the second time this year, that I am seeing it.""I think it is the first for me this year," Sabina cut in, straining her neck to see the palace walls at a better angle, while Giselle struggled than the others because of her short height, which made her huff frustratedly. The palace wasn't some building they could see well from that distance, but they could just catch a glimpse of the upper part and the beautiful gate."Do you see the large golden wolves there?" Maude pointed, showing them the two beautifully sculpted wolves with raised forelimbs like they were about to fight, just at the apex of the palace, "They signify victory and triumphance.""It is so beautiful," Sabina remarked."Well, there is a deep story to it," Maude said, as she turned to them smiling. She spontaneously covered her mouth with her palm, with her eyes wide open, knowing she had hinted her friends on the tale she should never tell."What is the story about?" Sabina and Giselle had asked almost immediately after one another, curious about what their friend was about to talk about. But she looked like she not going to say anything after."What does covering your mouth means? Are you implying that you won't tell us anymore?" Giselle asked irritably, still angry at her inability to see the golden sculptures they had talked about earlier. And now, her friend was acting up about not saying, what she had wanted to say."I don't think I should really talk about it," Maude answered nervously, "I heard it by chance from my father's mother. People should not been heard, or seen talking about it.""Then we would leave this place and act like we were talking normally," Giselle stressed the sentences, already frustrated about Maude's sudden timidness. Azalea just remained calm with so many curiosity in her mind, she sure was the person that wanted to hear about the tale most, amongst the three of them. But she tried to comport herself and curbed the urge to show her eagerness. She really hoped Maude would complete everything she wanted to tell them because, it was either that day or never again.Maude who succumbed to her friends inquisitiveness, looked left and right before turning to her them, "Let's go pick the herbs, while I narrate then. But promise you would never tell a soul," she told them and hasten her steps forward, while they followed her accordingly since she was the one that knew the route initially."We promise!"They had gotten the place they could get the herbs, as the Giselle and Sabina quickly found a spot to seat, forgetting the main purpose they had come for."Do you know that this kingdom was once for werewolves, witches and elves?""What do you mean witches. In the seventeen of my living, never have I once heard of witches living around, or having existed in this city," Giselle countered, turning to Sabina whose facial expression showed that she was also in support with what Giselle had said.It wasn't something they could believe so easily.Only Azalea, maintained a straight face, as she picked the herbs as much as she listened to every words they spoke."That was why I said it is a deep tale. Now listen."He gently walked towards the hallway that led to the garden to see if she was probably there, but the place was empty and lonely just as they had left it. His heart began to feel unsettling, as he quickly made his way into every room in the palace that he knew she usually liked going to. "Check every nook and cranny of the palace for Azalea, right, now!" Ayden dispatched every servant and soldier around, as he walked back into their room looking so confused and stressed out. That was when his eyes caught the paper that was folded neatly, and placed under the oil bottle in the dresser in the room. He rushed to pick it as he opened it. It thus read; "Dear Ayden. I know you must have been alarmed by now about my disappearance, but do not be. I am sorry to leave you in this manner, but this is actually the best thing to do for now. Do not look for me too, because you will not be able to find me even if you try. My powers have gone out of hand, and I have finally figured out why. Seem
The palace of many rooms and hallways was unbelievably quiet, with just servants and maids doing their best to clean every room in the large building. Everywhere was now more silent than ever, rather than the usual noises of the main family that once lived there happily. Everyone now had their lives to live.Zachary had left the palace together with his wife Armani and their son, after publishing his new book which had become best selling in a few weeks. Edla refused to go with Elliott when he came back one more time to see Ayden and Azalea, rejecting his offer to find a job for her in the nearest city which was many miles away. He told her that Eadlin had joined another pack as a warrior, and just spent her time training endlessly. Edla remained in and out the palace walls in hopes that one day,, she would still be able to capture the heart of Hendrix whom she still loved in her heart. Being well versed with the embroidery skills she learnt and spent her time doing during her
For the king, she had robbed him of his mate and the real Luna of the kingdom, because of her own selfish gain. She also made their only child's life a miserable one, and tried to kill the true prince of the kingdom several times without number. And she had even given birth to the children he had loved with his entire life, for another man whom she disguised as her brother to the palace. With him again she conspired to put his life into danger and left his already thin body to decay, so that she could finally usurp the throne with him. She also put a division between him and his bonafide son. For her first son Elliott, she made his life a miserable one since he had started growing up by pushing him too hard. Beyond his limits that put him into great depression and low-self esteem, and helped him to find solace in a lady who was willing to do everything for him. Robbed him of being the first son of the king. And to that beautiful union she put a division because of her greedy
Arturo was pacing his sword already in restless motion, in stark contrast to Azalea's as he traced roving loops with the point. He stepped forward, his sword swinging in a mock offense in an experimental probe into motion. He had put his dark magic power into the sword, and was ready to destroy the despicable little lady that was right in front of him. He hated so much that she had refused to die and always sat on his nerves, and that she was doing it till the very last moment. That was when he knew that she should not have underestimated her powers. However, he was ready to destroy her finally.Azalea launched aggressively straight into the attack as she filled her sword with her powers, left, right--she twisted away, jumped back, closed in for the attack again taking him off balance. The last time that she had hesitated to finish up everything with the fight, Ayden's sudden attack from Eadlin had distracted and almost caused both of them death. The werewizard swung his sword in a
Azalea was lying on the cold and bare floor hopelessly, weak and out of breath, with no assurance of surviving till the next day. Ayden had not even stirred ever since they had been locked up in the room, and was just motionless on the floor with also no one to tend to the wound he got from Eadlin's stab. If he was dead or alive she knew not, and her wrenched heart could also not take anymore pains or could her eyes shed anymore tears. The floors of the room were beginning to quake more violently, of the self-destruct effects it was having on itself. It was a glaring fact that the situation was just too despairing to do anything. If a miracle would occur by any chance at that moment, then she would first have to get out of the prison she was locked in unscathed. If there was another one that was willing to follow, she would also need the strength to escape together with Ayden. If she was going to escape safely with him, he needed to be alive and strong enough to migrate, for h
Edla and Zachary had remained restless all day while going in and out of his room, searching for clues that could help them discover where Azalea and Ayden could be. It was a tricky one because there were now twice as many soldiers in the palace, but they could now walk around freely however they liked. No one was talking about their mother and if she was okay, and they had no idea if the king was still even alive. The entire family had become a royal mess that the gossip about it could never be heard outside the palace if they all wanted to keep their heads. Eadlin was the only one allowed to see her mother and see her recuperation progress, while Elliott had run away from the palace the night the fight escalated with Azalea, and he saw his mother to the ground. Though he still felt the love he had for her as a son, she had ruined him too much for him to watch her stand back on her feet. He went back to search for Gianna at the inn where her parents owned, but they told him t
"We are all doomed now!! There is certainly no way out of this. There is no way!" Edla panicked, yelled and screamed, as she paced from end to end in Zachary's room. She had stood by the nearest room with a window to watch what had happened during the fight, but fled after the buildings collapsed for the second time. The next event that followed after the entire fight and commotion, was Arturo that now sat on the throne as the new king to reign. That same day, he summoned everyone in the city and called them to the palace, in which his new men informed all of them of the new development. It became the words amongst them that the wicked queen had been usurped, while their savior whom she also manipulated initially had come to save them from their misery. Everything had turned on Etheldreda to Arturo's full exploit. To make everything seem plausible, he started by banning the restriction orders and then fixed the reduction in tax payments. Grains were massively shared too among
"Azalea took the entire afternoon to rest by the hut and to regain her strength, while Ayden sharpened the sword that they found in a corner which was insinuated to have been left by Armani. She had a strong affirmation in her heart that no matter where Armani was, she would be safe and fine in everything that she did. They had nothing left to eat from their bag, and just had to wait till nightfall before they returned back to the palace. It was definitely where they had to start the fight from, and choosing the night was the best time to attack. There was definitely no time to waste time. Using her powers to become invisible through air, both Ayden and Azalea were able to get near the palace wall. And through the hidden tunnel which was still safely untouched, they both made their way into the tunnel as they crawled gently. As soon as they continued to get near to the other end of the tunnel in the garden, Azalea continued to sense some kind of ambience around but she could not
"Go and take any clothes that would suit you well from my wardrobe, and remain here till I come back. Do not open the door to anyone even if they knock!" She instructed, and hurriedly put on the clothes the girl was wearing initially, ignoring whatever sweat and dirt that might have gotten on it. The royal family which now consisted of Etheldreda, Arturo, and Elliott would be at the royal dining having dinner at that time. It was around that time too that the soldiers changed shifts and received dinner, so things would definitely be rowdy around without much attention paid to everyone passing by. But still, she had to make sure not to get caught, because she had no idea what her mother would do to her for disobeying the rules. With tension and some sought of contrition in her heart, she hoped so much in her heart never to run into anyone who would figure her out, even with her changed appearance. Edla stepped out of the room with the empty tray of food plates that the maid had
