Keira POV
The world stopped when his lips touched mine. I was no longer Keira Gray of the Spring Moon. Neither was I wife and mate to Alpha Liam. I was no one but a woman ready to be claimed by a powerful lycan beast. Not even his taunts could bring me back to my senses as his fangs caressed my lips. My body was at his command. Before I knew it, I was sandwiched between him and the wall as his tongue tangled with mine. Then he began to slow down, his lips freeing mine. Only then did my senses slowly return. What the hell was I doing? Letting another Alpha kiss me in my own home? At my wedding anniversary. I was appalled with myself as I pushed him off of me. His brow creased, and his eyes narrowed as he murmured thoughtfully, "Something's wrong with your wolf." "Get out," I barked breathlessly. "This is an assault. You would love a war, won't you? Get out!" The fact that he just spoke my secret out loud was not as threatening as what he just made me do. Apart from pack elders and Liam, who were sworn to secrecy, no one knew of my sleeping wolf. I refused to dignify Nox's words by commenting on it, so I repeated, "Get out." "Something's wrong, Kei-" "How dare you touch me? Get out!" He balled both fists on his sides, tightening his lips as if holding back on speaking, but he didn't move. His expression grew stoic and hard to read. He probably didn't care if someone saw us. Maybe his plan was to get caught with me like this. If that was the case, then I was right. He really wanted war. To conquer and take the Spring Moon. "You don't care, do you? I'm the one who's married and not you!" "I'm not trying to get you into trouble..." he trailed off with a deep frown. As if he was only just realized something. I turned away from him, unsure what to do with myself or where to go. I was supposed to be looking for Liam. We were supposed to be addressing the g-string problem. Instead, I was here getting cozy in another man's arms? What right did I have now to question Liam about what fell out of his pocket? "If you don't return to the party, I'll call out for the warriors." "Or you could let your wolf force me out by herself," he suggested. His face was so serious now that I didn't know if he was mocking me, but one thing was clear now. He knew my secret. I was alarmed but pretended like what he just said had no consequence. I began to head back into the party but stopped because he was at my heels. What would someone think if they saw us go back inside together. I never would've worried about that if not for the fact that I let him kiss me. My heart raced with guilt. "I know all about you," I pointed a warning finger at him. "I know you're a conquerer. A land thief! If you think you can steal my pack by sowing discord in my home, you have another think coming." "I don't need to sow discord in your home to get what I want, Keira. Tell me, has Liam explained where the panties came from?" Fates, he saw that? I was appalled. Someone else must have. Oh, Goddess. Then came a sound. Footsteps. I turned around sharply and began heading towards the direction of the main house where the sound was coming from. "Look, we should sit down and talk, alright," he said in a softer tone. "I'm not trying to conquer the Spring Moon. I kissed you be-" "That's enough from you, Alpha Nox!" I barked under my breath. "Leave me the hell alone." Liam appeared at the end of the hall right then. He was straightening his suit jacket but stopped at the sight of us. My heart jolted to my throat. I felt like he would know I'd cheated on him by merely looking at me. "Hey babe, what's going on? Is everything okay?" He hastened towards me, eyes moving from me to the lycan behind me. "I... I was looking for you. Where did you go?" "I had to take a phone call," he replied. "And then deal with an urgent message." This was the part where I complained that work was prohibited today, but he went on speaking. Whether he worked or not felt irrelevant now. "Alpha Nox, why are you here?" He asked. I tried to keep my breathing even, not daring to look at the source of my trouble. If I did, maybe Liam would know something was up with the both of us. "I was hoping to discuss business with the Luna," he replied confidently. "But it appears she's not in the mood." His voice didn't even shake. "I see." Liam remarked. Then I noticed a thin drop of liquid sliding down his neck as if he'd just taken a quick shower and didn't dry himself properly. "My Keira wouldn't be in the mood to talk business today, Alpha Nox," he said, at the same time, moving close to place a hand around my waist. Nox's eyes followed the movement, his face going blank. Then Liam leaned over in an attempt to drop a kiss on my lips. I moved away. Not because of our unresolved issues. There was a stranger here whom I should be putting up appearances for. Liam's face hardened at my reaction. Then his nose flared. I quickly began to speak, "Alpha Nox, why don't you get back to the party. We'll talk business another day." He didn't move. "Please," I added. As he turned away, I did the same in the opposite direction. Liam followed behind me silently till we were close to my uncle's quarters. Then he asked, "What's that all over you?" "What's what?" I returned without looking at him. "You reek of another male, Keira! What the fûck!"Yara POVWhat I was forced to let him do? What the hell did he mean by that? The Beta's opinion of me had not changed. All of the investigations and evidence had not changed what he thought of me where Liam was concerned. "What's the matter?" He asked tenderly. "Yara?"I wondered why he seemed so stricken, then realized that I had backed away from him. Like yesterday in that cell, I almost got carried away again. That kiss was not supposed to happen. Neither did this closeness."I did not "let him" do anything, Beta. You already had me investigated. You've seen that he and I are nothing.""You were fated," he said carefully. "For three minutes. I would appreciate it if you stopped talking like he and I had something.""Okay," he nodded with a slight frown. It looked like he would come close. How I missed the warmth of standing close to him. Of having him brush my cheek tenderly. I had felt so safe in this male's arm all of those few times that he touched me, then he had hurt me. "I
Theo POVNox had found the Luna and taken her back to the pack. She was safe and receiving medical care now. The Winter elder who helped Liam was also paying his crimes. The male didn't know which way Liam went. Nox had tortured him by himself and confirmed this. His only role was to lure the Luna to his restaurant, then give them both privacy.Liam had been hiding in the Winter Moon, but out in the town among humans. We had been naively searching in the woods. He was missing again. Ramos and I had combed the entire town after I received the message from Nox. He had just left for the Summer Moon to check on the other male who got hurt. It was nightfall now, and I had to return to the Autumn Moon. What a day it had been. I had spent the better part chasing the fücking trash. I had caused his escape, and he'd hurt the Luna of the Spring and Autumn Moon.If only I could kick myself. Even though the prïck was still missing, I was part glad that the horrific day had come an end finally.T
Theo POV Ramos dove my way, tackling me as I fought back and threw him off me. "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT," he snarled. "He escaped BECAUSE OF YOU!" That confirmed it. He did see me. But why didn't he tell Nox? He charged at me with pure rage, ready to pick up the fight from where we left off before Liam vanished. I was ready, too. It was his fault that I had not yet repaid my grudge to that sonofvabïtch. After a few moments of scuffling, we both seem to realize that we were on the same side and released each other. "Liam owes me!" I growled. "You know who else he owes?" He barked in return. "Your Alpha. FIRST. In the concluded battle. Next is the Lycan King! His father. So get in the fücking line." I wanted to speak, but he cut me off. Not that I had any valid arguments to counter what he was saying. "What, in the name of the Fates, does he owe you? Yeah, he fücked a girl you wanted for yourself. How does that compare to attempted murder?" I bared my teeth. Because
Theo POVMy heart shot to my throat, preventing me from pouring out words in my defense. "Liam is missing," Nox went on. His next words momentarily threw me into deep confusion. "They were attacked by rogues, according to Ramos. He snuck off during the fight." Rogues? Conan heaved a deep sigh, then glanced at Riley, who stood beside. The two could hear the conversation. I held my breath, waiting for the Alpha to finish spilling how much he knew about the attack. I began to relax when he gave no indication that he knew I was responsible for the attack. "I'm not allowed to go out and join the search," he went on. "You know what I would do if I lay hold of that fücker. I need you to get in touch with Ramos. He's sure Liam is still within the east side. Get some guys, enter the woods, and go hunting. I have a call coming in. I'll call you back." He hung up before I could say anything. Conan and Riley were staring at me as if waiting for my orders. Only two thoughts jumped around i
Theo POV"Are you hurt?"She was staring from my left shoulder down that arm. The biggest injury from the fight. It had healed now, but the bruise was still evident of the wound I suffered. I shook my head, "It's nothing. I'm fine.""Did something happen?" "No, I just went for a run. I got into a little fight. It was nothing serious. The other guys have bruises, too. Don't worry.""Guys?" She asked with a frown."I came to see you. Mario just informed me that they found nothing in your room or office. There's no evidence of your involvement in his latest crime."She breathed a deep sigh of relief. "You'll be out of here after I talk to the Alpha and Riley."A soft, half smile graced her features. Her eyes seemed to brighten the dim cell room. Then it was gone. Her features grew serious again."I guess I shouldn't celebrate yet," she lowered her gaze shyly.I'd rushed down here, straight from the woods to do say exactly? Thank the Fates for Mario, who provided me with this little de
Theo POVIf anybody laid eyes on me now, they would not be staring at a random rogue, looking for trouble in the woods. They would be staring at Theo Hart, Beta of the Autumn Moon.I rubbed my face and neck frantically. Like that would bring back the dead wolf furs that masked my appearance before. How long had my face been bare like this? The masks must have fallen off during the fight. Shıt! Ramos saw me. So did the other guy. I lost interest in my tracking mission. No point in going further. The whole thing was a blatant failure. Liam had gotten away, and his escorts saw my face. Damn it! This could get problematic. For Nox, especially. His father would surely think he sent me. I raced back to the point of the ambush, expecting to meet Conan on the way. Or at least he would be sticking around the wounded warrior. There was no sign of the two where I left them. I was about to scream his name like idıot, but quickly caught myself. I looked all around me, checking for his paw prin
