Seven Barrels Down

The silence has suffocated the room; you can hear a pin drop. The anticipation that one eager finger will trip over its trigger is a possibility that lies high in the tense air of the room. What was a scuffle between gentleman, which I had the upper hand, has now led into a stand-off? And as I scan the room, while I take a gentle spin on my heels, I am faced with some trembling hands that are staring me rather nervously in the face.

And as I glance over to my side, I see King, only now getting a hold of his gun; the man surely is slow; if it were a battle between him and me, he would have hit the floor already. Now, if someone is going to hit the floor is yet to be seen. The mere fact that they had the nerve to raise their guns at me would be the very first mistake that they have made tonight.

This leads me to advise them of only but two things, “If I was you, and god, I am glad I am not, for if you do not drop your fucking hands, you all will be finding yourselves with cement feet down where the ray of the sun doesn’t reach.” For but a few seconds, I watch as they hesitate between whose side they need to take, yet, “I need not remind some of you fucking idiots that you work for me.”

With that, I see about a majority of the hands drop, and they back off into their seats. Yet there are the few of them that choose to remain by King, well, I have no fucking idea who they are and if they work for me, but one thing for sure is that they all are going down.

So with only but a smirk on my face and looking at my princess, yes, I did promise her that I am not going to shoot anybody, but unfortunately, the game has changed. King made two fateful mistakes; he does not insult my fiancé, and most of all, he does not lay a hand on me. And saying that, I only watch as Cassandra shakes her head at me, yet to my very surprise, she shows for me to go ahead. Not that I need her permission, I just respect what she says, and the last thing I want is to sleep in that goddamn guest room.

I take my stance and step but two steps back, for, at the present moment, King is looking at my back. The man has no calm in shooting a man in the back, for where I want to watch you in the eyes before I drop your body. But as I make that single step, I see the fear creep into seven men that still have their barrels firmly pointed at me.

Now, the question here begs, how do I take out seven men and still prevent King from shooting me? Well, I have the first problem covered as I, much to the entire room’s shock, slip another Ruger that is firmly strapped to my chest. See, there was one good reason I did not take my jacket off when I took a seat. Now, if I want to be even dirtier, I can, but wait for it…

“Princess, please go sit down; I have this.”

She only but shakes her head at me, and at this very present, every man in the room sees how my princess slides her hand up her slender legs; there is a gasp that fills the air as every one of them believes that they will see something extraordinary tonight, and believe me that they are. So in less than five seconds, she slides that very hand out, and there is a complete hush of silence that falls over the room as she comes and stand firm next to me and point a barrel towards those very seven men that now have the fear of seven horrors in their eyes.

But from next to me, I hear the voice of King, “If this were not such a fuck up, I would have said that is goddamn hot.”

I glare at him with a newfound fury that builds in my eyes, “And if I were you, I would rather shut my fucking mouth.”

Just then, my princess, move but inches forward to the seven men that are watching her as they are trembling, “Now, I suggest that we all drop our guns and have a decent meal.”

Then there is a clever ass mouth that feels the need to say something, “You are just a girl with a gun in her hand. Do you even know how to use that thing?”

I watch as my princess only laughs and gives me a slight wink, then she turns back to him, “This girl is Cassandra Cummings, and my father, Joseph, I am sure if he could talk, he would tell you that I know exactly how to use this thing.”

But if I think that would make the fool back down, he only but raises his gun higher and start to break out in a fit of uncontrollable laughter, then he makes the mistake to speak, “Oh yes, you are that dirty little stripper.”

Well, my restraint snaps.

With absolute determination to show him his foolish ways, I step closer to him, “Cassandra is not a dirty little stripper; she was an exotic dancer.” I pause for a moment as I position my finger softly against my trigger, not once taking my other hand of King. Then I continue to speak, “You have made two fatal mistakes tonight.”

He only but smirk at me as he tries to keep his hand steady, “Please do tell me what it is, Caine?”

“For one, my dear friend, you are pointing a gun at your fucking boss,” I slide the tip of my finger over the trigger, then I continue, “Your second was insulting my fiancé.” And with that, I gently snap my finger until it makes direct contact with the trigger that sets the motion for the bullet to leave the clip; there is a slight click as it slides into the chamber. The heat travels through my hand as the adrenaline rushes through my body. In only one BANG, he topples in a heap of mess to the floor.

But wait…next to him, I hear the distinct sound of a very gun being loaded, as a fool spins his revolver to check if he is fully loaded before he can even snap that thing closed, there is another jerk of my hand, as yet another bullet leaves my Ruger at inches of inches in great speed. It pierces the soft skin between his brows before he, too, finds his fate on the floor.

I stop, yet still firmly point, and speak to the five men that are left standing, “Do any of you wish to join the party on the floor?” I only but look at them as they stand firm and shake my head in amusement, “You know I will blow your fucking brains out; why are you even bothering to tempt me?”

Then from behind me, I hear King speak, “I did not know you were going to provide the evening’s entertainment, Caine?”

I only but laugh at him, “Perhaps I am a little sore that you did not invite me, but I am making for one hell of an evening. Now tell you lapdogs to back off, or otherwise, I pray that you have a good cleaning crew.”

But death is thy ears…well perhaps not mine.

Next, I hear Cassandra calling for me, “Christian, watch out.” Well, it seems that two of these brave souls think that it is rather a great idea to charge at me. So as they come towards me at great speed, I take my one hand away from King and aim both arms straight forward, and in one…two…three…they both drop together like the fucking idiots they are.

“So, it only leaves you three, for I will not be blowing King’s brains out tonight. Now tell me, do you really want to test my patience tonight?”

They remain firm; they do not make a single move.

From behind me, I hear as King clears his throat rather deeply, yet I ignore the man. I do not know if he is telling these three to back down or go towards me. Yet, I know that King is a man that will want to take me out himself. This leaves me with only one option.

“Princess.”

“Yes, Mr. Caine?”

“Right or left?”

“Mmm…tough one. I think I will go for the middle.”

I only but nod my head at her, then I softly whisper in her direction, “Now, princess.”

And in absolute perfect precision, as a complete one, she drops the fool that was standing in the middle, and not even an inch of a second later, the two on his sides tumble forward, their knees give in as the last ounce of breath leave their bodies.

Completely satisfied that not a single soul is going to come after me, I join Raven with Cassandra back at our table. Only but moments later, King, after changing into a suit that is less torn, joins the table in the seat next to me.

With a chilled glass of whiskey in both of our hands, King turns to me, “Remind me never to invite you again.”

I only but burst out in laughter at him, “Somehow, I don’t think this is going to be the last time that we will have our guns drawn at each other.”

Yes, if the man only knew.
