Time (Around 11pm, getting to 12am)

Walking back home, Even and Devlin walked side by side. Some distance between them.

It was very late and it was dark.

Too quiet.

Everyone was probably asleep.

Well, that was good cause they didn' want to get into trouble with anyone in the pack.

The people didn' like vampires and they knew they were not going to start now or any time soon.

"Too bad Lvan didn' agree" Even said, breaking the quietness.

"Yeah, but I understand. We're not exactly welcomed or guests. Fred staying with us will be too much" Devlin said.

"But is too much. You've already proved to be good. A good vampire. Trustworthy. You told us about Cidna Pack. Helping us save those kids and Cabby. They can't treat you this way" Even said, devastated.

Why can't they see what he was seeing?

Devlin was good.

He was a good vampire.

A good person.

'He's your mate. That's why you think this way' Even's wolf said, annoying him.

'Whose side are you on?' He asked, annoyed.

"Listen Even" Devlin said, coming to a stop and Even did the same.

Now facing each other, some distance between them, Devlin gave him a gently smile, melting his heart.

Seriously!

His smile....... Was so beautiful.

No one! No one had a smile like his.

"Is not enough Even. I have to prove myself more. I have to gain everyone's trust. Vampires, for centuries has never been accepted by werewolves"

"But one of the council of elders is a vampire"

"Still, werewolves hasn't accepted him. Also, he's the overseer of vampires. Making sure vampires doesn't break any rule made to bring peace between vampires, humans and werewolves" Devlin said and Even knew he was right.

"Even so, vampires have been breaking the rules. Getting closer to werewolves and humans. Kidnapping, mistreating......... My kind has been breaking the rules. No one will trust us easily. No matter how innocent we are" Devlin said and he nodded.

Knowing he was right.

"Even,.........I want nothing more but to be close to you. Fall deeply for you. Have you in my arms always. Sleep with you in my arms. Wake up next to you. Have breakfast, lunch and dinner with you. Chat and laugh with you. Smile and cry with you. I want nothing else but you Even"

Now........he say something like this......what does he expect him to do?

Deities!

Even wanted nothing more but to kiss him right now!!

"But that can't happen"

Huh?

Even thought, surprised.

Where exactly was this going?!

"Until I prove myself" Devlin said and he breathed out in relief.

"To your pack"

"I already trust you Devlin. You don't have to prove yourself to me. I already love what am seeing" Even said with a smile and Devlin smiled back.

Gosh!

His mate (Even) really knew how to set his heart racing.

How to make him feel happy.

And he had no idea.

Devlin thought, smiling at him.

NEXT DAY

MORNING

Time (Around 9am)

Something

Something smelled nice.

Delicious.

What was cooking?

Who was cooking?

Was the food ready?

What was it?

Smelled like meat.

Meat and what?

Grape Juice.

His favourite!!

"Even, Even"

Who was calling his name?

The voice sounded like Devlin's own.

And......and......his body!

His body was burning!

It was uncomfortable.

"Uncomfortable!!" Even yelled out, opening his eyes.

His eyes landed on Devlin who looked worried, standing a few steps away from him behind the counter.

Realizing he was in his own house, Even began to relax.

However, his body was still burning up.

His insides were burning up and it was so uncomfortable.

His heart was racing like crazy and he was breathless.

Finding it hard to breathe normal.

"Even, are you okay?" Devlin asked, worried, keeping his distances away from Even.

"What happened?" Even asked, trying to breathe normally.

"I cooked you breakfast" Devlin replied.

Looking before him, Even realized he was right.

Food was set before him.

And it was grilled meat and carrots. A glass of grape juice beside it.

What he smelt earlier, was before him.

His favorites!

How did he know?

And like Devlin heard his question, he answered, "I woke up early and decided to cook for you. I didn' know your favourites so I asked Debby and she shared"

"Really?" Even asked, looking up at him.

He met a smile on Devlin's face.

It was that smile again.

That enchanting smile of his!

"Yes. Food ready, I called for you and you came down. Half asleep" Devlin said, smiling and his face flamed up.

Now that was embarrassing!

"I'm sorry. I tried to wake you up and I guess I came too close"

And that's why his body began to burn.

"You screamed so loud. I hope you're better now?" Devlin asked, worried.

*Sigh, Even did not know what was wrong with his body!

Why was his body behaving this way?

Why couldn't he get close to his mate?

He really hated this!

"I'm sorry. I'm fine now" Even asked with a smile and he nodded.

Getting a chair from the other side of the counter where Even sat, Devlin placed it before the fridge and took a seat on it.

"Here's okay, right?" He asked and Even smiled, nodding.

It was too far, Even wanted to complain but kept quiet cause he knew why it had to be done this way.

Hi body was to be blamed!

*Sigh, Devlin was so caring!

What did he do to deserve this man as his mate?

"Eat" Devlin said with a smile.

"What about you?" He asked, worried.

Also,......he did not like eating alone.

"I'm fine" Devlin answered, smiling.

Even wasn't convinced.

"Please eat. Try it" Devlin said.

*Sigh, Even sighed, accepting defeat, "Fine" he said before picking up the fork and knife.

"You know, you're the first person I've cooked for" Devlin said and he (Even) smiled,

"Really?" He asked, cutting the meat.

"Yes. I......I only wanted to cook for my mate"

Now!

That was great news!

Gosh!

Even was not feeling alright!

His heart won't stop racing!

He was so happy hearing all these.

"So, how is it?" Devlin asked, a bit nervous as he watch Even eat the food he prepared.

He hasn't cooked in a while.

In fact, the last time he cooked was thousands of years ago.

And this time, he cooked for his mate.

His mate!

Nothing must go wrong!

Nothing!

"Delicious" Even replied with a smile after swallowing.

It really was good.

Just like he liked it.

"I'm glad" Devlin said, relaxing and feeling so relief.

"You're a great cook, I must say"

"Thanks" Devlin replied, smiling at him.

"Oh, by the way, are you sure you've never cooked for anyone? No one?" Even asked and he smiled,

"No one. The last time I cooked was thousands of years ago, I believe"

"How old are you?!" Even asked, surprised. In disbelief.

Cute.

Devlin thought, smiling.

"Really old. Far older than Colten and Chris" he answered, surprising Even.

"You know about them?"

He did not say anything about them to him.

So how did he find out?
