Chapter 25

Simon was standing on the balcony of his room. He could not forget what Ella had said. He suddenly felt anxious when he recalled what had happened before. Simon grabbed his chest, then turned a blind eye.

THE YEAR 1500

After Simon had burned the house, Helena and Lando's son Rafael went with him. Every town they went through was already contaminated with the disease. Many had died; others had already been incinerated. Simon wrapped Rafael in a blanket while he carried him. He has been walking for several days and still has no safe place for the child. He also ran out of food and milk. Simon doesn't have enough cash to buy milk.
