Chapter 11: Sweet Things Doesn’t Last

Dalvin smiled at her, shading her from the sun and looking at the vendor, who was cooking her wanted food – sugarcoated potato. He was also quite unsure if he should take a bit since it looked odd and it was his first time smelling this unusual, sweet aroma. For some reason, though, he felt that everything would be fine as long as nothing happened.

Last night was an accident and there would be no second time – if ever, he’d slice everyone’s necks.

Soon after, the vendor finished cooking thus he handed the sweet potato over Cardyn’s hand with a wide grin. He praised, “You two look perfect for each other. You two are husband and wife, right?”

Dalvin unconsciously smiled, “Yes, that’s correct. She’s my wife. Pretty, isn’t she?”

The vendor owner merrily laughed at his boldness causing Cardyn to flush and look away in a dash. Not knowing what to do when she was praised like that in front of someone, she only timidly pout
