My Perfect Abrupt Marriage
Chapter 1
Cardyn’s
I facepalmed. Just what the hell did I do last night? Sat on the very-soft-tempting-sofa, comfort was out of the question since I am in a dire situation faced with someone I would never want to make any deal. But…
“Forgot about your husband that fast?”
Crap. Can something hit my head so I can lose all of my memories just like in those dramas and feign ignorance about this man? Or should I call him my husband?
I stared at the registered marriage certificate between me and this man clearly, without a mistake, dumbfoundedly. I clicked my tongue, attempting to look cool.
“I… Sir Manzo, I pray that this is just one of the jokes you like to play?”
He slightly frowned, shaking his head in disagreement. “I’m afraid not. This is a real, legitimate, reliable, and credible marriage certificate between you and me.”
I slapped the table between us in slight anger, “Still!” I huffed, moving my eyes to him, “Last night was just a play.”
He smirked, “It wasn’t for me, unfortunately.”
Wriggling my brows, I could only scoff. Yesterday was my best friends’ wedding – Wilson and Elena. I had admired Wilson since we were young as we were neighbors. As far as I am concerned, in High School, we increased from two friends to three – Elena. My beautiful friend whom I thought was nice. Not until I got to know Wilson was pursuing her.
I never professed my love for him as I feared he’d leave, or I’d ruin our solid friendship. Not that I didn’t expect him to knock on my door and tell me he likes me. The least I wanted for him was to actually marry Elena and create a family with her. But hey, they had just got married yesterday while I, the dumbest of us three, went into a club and drank into my heart’s content.
In the drunkenness spur, I proposed to a man – the man I didn’t know would take my nonsense seriously. What I am concerned about was the fact that we spent the night together and registered our marriage while we were on it. This isn’t a drama, what the hell.
I never done one-night stands thingy. Perhaps it was driven by my sadness and regrets last night that I allowed myself to pounce on this man without any thought.
I clenched my fists, gulping.
“Sir, I… we only had a one-night stand but that was all into it,” I laughed the marriage certificate off as if I didn’t hear him saying it was a real one, “So let’s divorce.”
The man I called Sir Manzo, lifted his brows. He had an unkind expression as if threatening me for my boldness but what else can I do? He’s a freaking CEO, a famous bachelor, and been the talks around the women lately.
He hummed, “You say that we take things slow. Is that it?” His gaze lingered onto me, while I blinked my eyes. I remembered what we did last night I couldn’t be more embarrassed than I was. Never in my life would I think I was proactive, in terms of desires, that is.
I shook my head in response, “Let’s get a divorce.”
He pointed at my stomach, “What if there’s a baby in there?”
I hastily protected my stomach, looking at him in disbelief with a frown.
“We did it only once…”
“Forgetting things? What do you mean once?”
I touched my head. The only thing I want to do now was to get out and leave this place. Being with him for far long is making my skin crawl, causing my mind to divulge what we did last night – passionate and fiery.
I stood up, biting my lower lip. “Let’s divorce, Sir Daniel Manzo.”
“Wife, where are you off to? Your husband is here.”
I stopped on my tracks, facing him who was already taking long strides towards me. I held my breath, looking at him in fascination, reliving how he looked in flushed face, when he groaned against my ears and full of sweat. Before I could lower my head, he had already entrapped me between his arms – his eyes on me to which intimidated me.He leaned his face near her ears and told her, "Wife, should you leave this mansion again, see to it you won't be able to walk for a week.”
I widened my eyes then stomped onto his feet, resulting him to wince in pain and step back. He groaned, trying to say something but I intervened.
I pointed at him, “I’ll break your feet before you break mine! Adiue!”
My Perfect Abrupt Marriage Chapter 2 “Ma, I’m home!,” I called out to my one and only Mother, who peeked from the kitchen and nodded at me. I took off my slippers, heading inside. The breakfast she was cooking tempted me into wanting to take a taste but since it hasn’t been cooked, I stopped myself. “Dear, where were you off to last night?” She warmly smiled at me, intending to hug me to which I gave her one with a kiss on her cheek. “I was waiting for you, but you didn’t come.” I guiltily laughed, scratching my cheek. I will never be in my right mind if I tell her that ‘Mom, I had a one-night stand and got married!’. Only those insane would be able to reveal what they did. “I… I told you about the apartment I wanted to rent…” I looked away from her innocent eyes which tempted me to be honest with her and went on my white lie, “S-So I… I slept there.” She frowned at me. “What do you mean? I called the tenant last night, but he told me you weren’t there.” I’m doomed. It’s that D
My Perfect Abrupt Marriage Chapter 3 Dalvin’s I tapped my elbows, dazedly looking at the documents in front of me. I could read but I guess it was because of that woman who dared to stomp my feet. However I think about it, it’s just aggravating that I didn’t even scold her. Had I been too complacent or charmed? I touched my throbbing forehead, unable to accept the truth that had occurred. How many days had it been— three days since I got married but my supposedly wife is nowhere to be seen? “Sir, Luke Harriet has come.” I smirked. “Let him inside.” Cardyn Harriet, let’s see who you are for real. As the door opened, the worry Luke Harriet headed inside as his repetition blinking made me annoyed, so I looked away. He bowed at me. “Y-you called for me, Sir?” At least even if he was nervous, he was still polite with me. He was the complete entity from that Cardyn, my wife. “That Cardyn Harriet,” I took a sigh, “Is your younger sister, right?” Luke frowned without lifting his gaz
My Perfect Abrupt Marriage Chapter 4 Cardyn’s When I regained my consciousness, I was lying on the bed without no one by my side. My head was quite aching making me inadvertently shaking it, intending to remove the headache. The last thing I remember was that man who pulled me into his arms and kidnapped me! Where did he… Oh, this is my room. Why am I in my room? Wasn’t I in his car and tied up? I looked at my wrists, and there was faint red spot around it. As expected, that man is no good. He really let mee have red spot around my wrists. Ah, it’s making me angry. Without prompting for my head to feel better, I climbed down the bed and headed outside. I swear if I see that man in this house, I’d make him pay for the loss he caused. I didn’t receive Kurt’s payment! I had a plan involving that money and he had to ruin that! “Wife, you’re awake?” Who dare call me… I scoffed, looking at the shamelessness this man got. I glimpsed at my mother who was suspiciously grinning at me so
My Perfect Abrupt Marriage Chapter 5 Cardyn’s Luke folded his hands on his chest, uncomfortable about the whole situation. If he felt unsettled about it, what’s more when I was the one the most who felt used to this whole situation. I rolled my eyes at him, feeling aggravated. After dealing with Daniel the way he wanted to, I went to work – I am a manager in a restaurant. “Why are you here?” Luke drank the lemonade juice I made especially just for him. If marrying Daniel Manzo wasn’t enough, what’s more when Manzo’s company is near this restaurant? It only meant that I was destined to encounter Daniel occasionally. Luke glared at my wedding ring. “I am here to ask you. What happened to you and him?” I sighed, “Why do you want to know? I thought you wouldn’t want to meddle in my affairs?” His lips twitched then placed the glass loudly on the table. Therefore, I warned him, “If that glass breaks, you’ll have to pay for it.” He scoffed, “Aren’t you married to someone wealthy? Buy
My Perfect Abrupt Marriage Chapter 6 Cardyn’s Having that one-night stand with him shouldn’t have that much effect on him. Since it should have been me who was fantasizing future but I wasn’t. Upon discovering I rolled the sheets with Daniel Manzo, I dared not dream of having a family with him. Besides, let’s just say we just got into the mood and went along with the atmosphere. I wasn’t that drunk but it may be because of the alcohol I drank that night. I don’t know why Daniel badly wanted to have a marriage binding us together. I was forced, but he… I think for him this was just a mere play. I clicked my tongue and averted my eyes from him. I shouldn’t say things like this to him knowing that my brother is working under him, he could take revenge on me using Luke. I sighed and was unwilling to forfeit. Why do I have to act all kind and sweet like other women just to please him? I gritted my teeth, “It’s my fault,” I lowered my head, “I… went overboard. I will be cautious from
My Perfect Abrupt Marriage Chapter 7 Cardyn's When I was young, I used to imagine how life would have felt like if I were in a Disney movie or land. I imagined it to be perfect, additionally not having to worry about money or something like that. However, as I grew up in a rather humble background, I dare not complain for I knew that's the capacity of my parents and I am just fine with it. Though sometimes it's good to imagine if my life was any different from my current status, I didn't want to leave what I had been accustomed to and be treated as though I was some noble lady like what was happening right now. Awkwardly, I lifted the knife beside the plate with a forced tug of my lips. I internally debated what to cut and eat first as there were a lot of dishes to pick from. In our house, I only got to eat a maximum of three dishes overall including the rice in our bowls. Sometimes, when I eat in a food chain I order a maximum of four different orders and I must eat all of them t
My Perfect Abrupt Marriage Chapter 8 Cardyn's I don't know why Wilson saw Kurt when I just saw him recently. But well, wealthy people are different. They could fly right now wherever they wanted unlike those who work harder than those who were naturally born with a golden spoon in their mouths. I wonder what I will do once I have a really big cash in my hands. I smiled at my thoughts, dismissing them away and focusing on my work again. My work was peaceful although sometimes, customers were rude. That was occasionally so I hope I won't encounter them today to ruin my mood. Nevertheless, I hope Wilson and Elena are having the best times of their life right now since they’re newly married. I saw Linda come inside with a grin on her face. Truly a lady with both virtue and cuteness. “Linda, you’ve come.” I greeted her to which she waved her hand, quickly waving at me as a greeting. “Manager. You arrived earlier than me today. Did something good happen?” I beamed at her, shrugged m
My Perfect Abrupt Marriage Chapter 9 Cardyn’s Awkwardly, I smiled at her, merely giving a nod of my head. Adapting wouldn’t come overnight or would I be able to get accustomed to this new surrounding so easily. “A-all right,” I glanced at the other maids who bowed at me, “I, I should go and rest for a while.” She grinned at me, “Now I know why Master insisted that we take the most care of you. I finally understand why he did so.” Confused more, I furrowed my brows, “Dan... Daniel ordered so?” She nodded her head vigorously, “Yes, yes. Then I won’t bother you anymore, Madame. I still have a lot of matters to attend to.” Just like that, she again bowed at me and left her way. I heaved a deep sigh, glancing at her each of the stairs I took. Daniel told her to take care of me. What does that mean? Is it some sort of drama-romance where I should be touched and have my heart fluttering over that? Well, maybe it was the unexpected gesture that was thrown at me. Daniel is such an outs
