Chapter 3

My Perfect Abrupt Marriage

Chapter 3

Dalvin’s

I tapped my elbows, dazedly looking at the documents in front of me. I could read but I guess it was because of that woman who dared to stomp my feet. However I think about it, it’s just aggravating that I didn’t even scold her. Had I been too complacent or charmed?

I touched my throbbing forehead, unable to accept the truth that had occurred. How many days had it been— three days since I got married but my supposedly wife is nowhere to be seen?

“Sir, Luke Harriet has come.”

I smirked. “Let him inside.”

Cardyn Harriet, let’s see who you are for real. As the door opened, the worry Luke Harriet headed inside as his repetition blinking made me annoyed, so I looked away. He bowed at me.

“Y-you called for me, Sir?”

At least even if he was nervous, he was still polite with me. He was the complete entity from that Cardyn, my wife.

“That Cardyn Harriet,” I took a sigh, “Is your younger sister, right?”

Luke frowned without lifting his gaze at me. “… She is, Sir. Is there anything wrong?”

“Absolutely. Is she always the careless, daring woman?”

Alas, he looked at me in perplexity but still answered.

“Uh, well… she is always that woman. Sometimes she doesn’t care how a situation would escalate causing her to get into troubles.”

Unbelievable. I clicked my tongue in irritation. In the end, I dismissed him away with a flick of my hand, darkly staring at the suit that was on the sofa. It reminded me how she looked like underneath me – when she closes her eyes, when she stifled her noises and trembles under force. I didn’t know someone could be completely different in matter of day and night.

My assistant gave me another bow saying, “Sir, you have been invited to the masquerade party this Friday,” he gave me the invitation card, “Will you go?”

When I read the invitation card, I narrowed my eyes.

“Kurt Huonan, not his twin?”

“Yes.”

I scoffed, “That lad really has the nerve. Fine, let’s see how he hosts this party. Otherwise, terminate the contract between me and his father.”

“Yes.”

The workload for the past two days took my mind off Cardyn Harriet and how she treated me, but it was still unbelievable no matter I think about it. Since I am quite occupied, I wouldn’t go as far as search for her but after this party, I shall do my best to do my duty as his husband.

The party was magnificent in its own way. Thankfully, it was a masquerade party, or else everyone had seen the scowl on my face. There was nothing to see except those who frequent on parties, some businesswomen and men. I should have come with a partner in hand, but I don’t do such a thing, so I came alone.

And look who I found in this party.

Even if she wore a mask or wrap herself with countless clothes, I could still recognize her.

I didn’t expect to find her so soon – Cardyn Harriet.

Without further ado, I strode towards her and then momentarily halted my tracks seeing that her hand was link around Kurt Huonan’s hand. She married me but has another man in her hand, is that it?

You’re bold, Cardyn.

She was sipping wine from the servers, but I didn’t mind as I snatched her goblet and strongly pulled her over to my side.

“Who are you?”

She struggled to escape and shouted to which garnered attention of others. Considering how feisty she was, she would go as much as blaming me and having others sympathize with her. But she forgot one thing – I am a Manzo.

“G-get off me! Ah!”

I held her tightly between my arms, glaring at Kurt who snickered at me.

“Sir Manzo,” he hid his hand into one of his pockets, “She is my partner.”

I smirked, gazing down on Cardyn who was staring at me as though she was threatening me.

“I am afraid I can’t have her as your partner.”

“You’re being shockingly disrespectful, Sir Manzo.”

“And you’re being utterly shameful for coveting someone’s possession.”

I challenged him with a lift of my brow. If he says another thing, I will punch him but if he doesn’t this will end quietly without pursue.

Kurt scoffed, grasping Cardyn’s hand, pulling her to his side but I wouldn’t let him hold her any longer. Hence, I hastily slapped his hand, and stepped back.

“L-let go of me, you bastard!”

I waved my hand at Kurt, merely saying. “Know your place, Mister Huonan.”

Then I left the party with Cardyn in my arms who was struggling to elude. I was aware she wouldn’t easily come with me, but as far as I am concerned, she also need to exact her duty as my wife.

I warned her.

“If you move again, I’ll make sure to give you back to Huonan.”

She complained loudly, “He’s much better than you! Ah!” And before she could say anymore words, I placed her inside my car then sat beside her, having the driver lock the door and press the partition between the front seat and the back seat.

I leaned forward, whispering.

“In what way is he much better than me? On the bed?”

“Are you freaking insane? Let me go.” I wrapped her wrist with my tie so she wouldn’t be able to escape freely. She was still wearing mask which was impressive since she had moved a lot earlier.

Slowly, I grabbed the mask and lifted it off. Unlike a smile I wanted to see from her, she was glaring and huffing at me. Feisty, really.

I tapped her nose with my forefinger, amused by this little kitten. I had a cat before and she was exactly what that cat was for the first time I petted it – defensive and mad. Lifting my hand, I patted her head intending to placate her anger but she only tilted her head, not wanting me to touch her.

“Let me go, you bastard!”

I tugged my lips upward, “You’re mean.”

“You’d rather I act all sweet in front of you when you took advantage of me while I was drunk?”

She attacked and I flinched. I snapped, gritting my jaws and then held her chin captive into my hand. I narrowed the distance between us – one hand away from each other’s faces.

Albeit she has beautiful face, it has an ugly expression throwing at me.

“You grope my body quite proactively and you should be thankful about it. In the end,” I giggled, “We very much enjoyed what happened afterward.”

She huffed, then forcefully looked away from me.

I reclined on my seat, contented, and guaranteed that she wouldn’t be able to escape from me. I nonchalantly folded my arms.

“You better be obedient.”

“I won’t!” She then started drumming on the windowpane as if trying to break it so I grabbed her hand with a squint on my face.

I told her deviously. “It had been three days and I’m very much elated to face your mother in this formal attire.”

“What are you going to do?” She angrily frowned at me.

I smiled at her, “Introduce myself to your mother.”

“How dare you—”

I hate her mouth; it says unnecessary things, so I ended up jabbing her neck to which resulted in her to fall unconscious. With a finally relieved sigh, I had her head leaned on my shoulder, brushing away the hair that blocked her face.

She’s better if she’s asleep.

But I like her version underneath me – I inwardly chuckled in delight.
