Chapter 7

My Perfect Abrupt Marriage

Chapter 7

Cardyn's

When I was young, I used to imagine how life would have felt like if I were in a Disney movie or land. I imagined it to be perfect, additionally not having to worry about money or something like that. However, as I grew up in a rather humble background, I dare not complain for I knew that's the capacity of my parents and I am just fine with it.

Though sometimes it's good to imagine if my life was any different from my current status, I didn't want to leave what I had been accustomed to and be treated as though I was some noble lady like what was happening right now.

Awkwardly, I lifted the knife beside the plate with a forced tug of my lips. I internally debated what to cut and eat first as there were a lot of dishes to pick from. In our house, I only got to eat a maximum of three dishes overall including the rice in our bowls. Sometimes, when I eat in a food chain I order a maximum of four different orders and I must eat all of them to prevent wasting anything. This thing rarely happened as I wanted to buy a new house for me and my mother.

I didn't want to pretend I knew what to do in this moment but I also didn't want to appear foolish for not knowing.

I silently cleared my throat with a furrow of my brows.

"Here, eat this."

Without asking, Daniel handed me his already cut steaks. He even placed an omelet and shrimp on top of the rice. It was as if he was telling me to eat whatever I want without any shame. I gulped my saliva roughly, smiling at him.

"Thank... you."

All of the dishes were mouth-watering, not lying. But I feel like just by seeing them makes me feel for I knew two people wouldn't be able to finish 12 course dishes for a breakfast. Aside from that was the fact that I don't eat breakfast always. I prefer having coffee and dipping bread into it.

"You can eat whatever you want and if you prefer something, you can always tell the Chef," Daniel told me and added with hesitance, "You don't need to ask foor my permission. You're the madame here."

As such, without even taking a bite, he stood up and wiped his mouth after drinking the juice from the glass. I narrwed my eyes, questioning why he seemed disinterested of eating breakfast together with me.

In the end, I finished what was in my plate with difficulty and had to leave the table without taking a bite to each of the delicacies for I was already full in my stomach. I stroked my belly feeling like I had eaten more than I should have before opening the door to where I work and nodding to my fellow workers.

"Manager, you've arrived."

I nodded at her, Linda, "Yes. Is something the matter so early in the morning?"

She shook her head, "Not really but I just want to ask for your opinion," she offered a hand, leading me to the kitchen, "I have just baked a cake and is decorating it. What could be the best color of it?"

I propped my chin on the back of my palm, answering her with a faint smile on my face.

"It depends on what event you want to do but for me, we can first put into exercise the minimalistic design. For example, in this area, you can place a small circle accompanied with the name of the customer while at the edge would be a ribbon using the color the customer had made. As for the color of the whole cake, let's do it using cream one."

Linda grinned widely at me, clapping her hands. "Thank you, Manager! You're really a savior! Thank you so much!"

I nodded my head, "An honor to be of help to you, dearie."

As soon as I plopped on the soft chair, securing the desk in front of me, a call came to my phone. When I looked at the caller it was none other by my recently wedded best friend, Elena. I smiled before sliding it to answer.

"Hi, Elena. How is it going there?"

I heard her chuckled, ["I just missed you so had to call to know what's happening to you."]

I frowned, "What do you mean something happening to me? What could happen to me?"

["I heard from Auntie that you got yourself a top-notch boyfriend and is planning to marry each other within two months?"]

I almost spit the juice I was drinking and coughed in shame. I wiped the excess juice from my mouth before replying abruptly, "Why are you saying such nonsense? Besides, why would you give me your attention when you should be focused to your husband, hm?"

Elena laughed coquettishly, ["Aiya, I feel shy... don't tease me."]

So, they have spent a night with passion. I guess my feelings for Wilson wasn't because of admiration but a sense of security and attachment as his long best friend. Since he is now married, it's time to right what's wrong and treat him like a brother.

"I am not teasing you, you're the one overthinking."

["I know, I know. Hm, by the way, I feel like I saw your ex-boyfriend here in Japan."]

"My ex-boyfriend? What does that have to do with me?"

"Well, just saw him punching someone."

I furrowed my brows. It was only a few days after that masquerade party and yet he had gone to Japan to have some vacation? He's fast, huh?

I scoffed, "It's not like he's one of my business now."

["I know, Wilson just told me that you cried nights because of him."]

My other hand which was spraying the plants on the table halted. My eyes wavered as if being reminded of the times we were together. I held my breath for a while.

"... It's fine. Don't concern yourself with him anymore."
