Chapter 2

My Perfect Abrupt Marriage

Chapter 2

“Ma, I’m home!,” I called out to my one and only Mother, who peeked from the kitchen and nodded at me. I took off my slippers, heading inside.

The breakfast she was cooking tempted me into wanting to take a taste but since it hasn’t been cooked, I stopped myself.

“Dear, where were you off to last night?” She warmly smiled at me, intending to hug me to which I gave her one with a kiss on her cheek. “I was waiting for you, but you didn’t come.”

I guiltily laughed, scratching my cheek. I will never be in my right mind if I tell her that ‘Mom, I had a one-night stand and got married!’. Only those insane would be able to reveal what they did.

“I… I told you about the apartment I wanted to rent…” I looked away from her innocent eyes which tempted me to be honest with her and went on my white lie, “S-So I… I slept there.”

She frowned at me. “What do you mean? I called the tenant last night, but he told me you weren’t there.”

I’m doomed. It’s that Daniel Manzo’s fault. While wishing him to get into an accident for seducing me last night, I noticed my mother’s gaze which was contained with worry. Let me clear this situation first before thinking of another matters. Daniel Manzo.. is not my husband.

I gulped, establishing my white lie again, “Ma, you know that the owner is quite old and tends to forget about things. Ha… ha…” I blinked my eyes, discerning if that lie was convincing enough.

She sighed, “All right. I guess you were exhausted while working. Come, taste this breakfast, and fill your stomach.” She urged.

Indeed. Mothers are the best! I pray that my mother is well taken care of last night by the angels and had a good night sleep, too.

After the blissful breakfast, I went onto my life like normal. But before I could step any forward, a man I didn’t want to see among anyone appeared with a big grin on his face. I looked away in irritation.

He waved his hand as if pleased to see me. If he was pleased to see me, I feel grossed out, on the other hand. Cussing underneath my breath, I walked past by him – at least that’s what I thought until he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to where I was.

I sighed, “All right, Kurt. What do we have here?”

He playfully winked at me, instantly making me vomit early in the morning. Come on, I had enough of Daniel Manzo. Don’t tell me Wilson will also show up and show-off his marriage with Elena?

He nudged me trying to placate my anger, but I only stared at him. With a deep exhalation, he cleared his throat.

“Accompany me to a party on Friday.”

I frowned, “Hello? Am I your partner-for-rent?” I waved my hand, trying to escape but he again pulled me back, “Kurt, god. For Pete’s sake, move on from me.”

He opened his mouth then lowered his head. I don’t know why but I feel irritated ever since earlier. Either it was because I was too dumb I rolled the sheets with the CEO Daniel, the boss of my older brother, or the fact that I registered the marriage with him last night.

Kurt looked at me, begging. “Please, this is the last time. I don’t have any partner.”

I closed my eyes, relaxing my nerves. “Mister Kurt. We broke up four months ago, and you’ve been pestering me unbelievably unnecessarily.”

Right. Kurt, my ex— the same man who told me he still has feelings for his first girlfriend. I thought it was just a mere attachment emotion, not until I saw him in the club hooking up with girls and kissing them.

I smirked in mocking, “Didn’t you have your ex-girlfriend, the one you had before you pursued me? Go to her.”

“Three-thousand dollars,” he nodded his head and then stared at me, “I’ll give that to you as compensation if you accompany me.”

My eyes twinkled in delight as though I was hearing my bank account being loaded in abundant money. If I have that money, I can start my business, I can go to travel. No, wait. First, I need to buy a better house for me and my mother.

“Cardyn…?” Kurt waved his hands in front of my eyes.

I woke from my reverie, lifting my head to Kurt. Coldly, I folded my arms underneath my chest, raising my brow at him.

“That’s cheap.”

Kurt scoffed in disbelief, “Three-thousands is not cheap—”

“You can opt for having no partner or increase my talent fee.”

“Hey, this is—”

“Okay, bye.”

“All right!,” he stared into my eyes, emphasizing, “Five-thousands dollars. That is my limit.”

I beamed at him in an instant. Covering my mouth in happiness and hope for big money, I grinned at him.

“You should have said that earlier,” I pulled out my phone, “Your number?”

“You deleted it?” He eyed me, not wanting to believe. With a sigh, I was about to hide my phone then he stopped me with a nod of his head. He rummaged through his wallet, and then gave me his contact card.

“This,” he began, “I’ll give you half of the amount before the party starts and the rest when it’s finished.”

Handing it to me, I stared at his surname – Huonan, Kurt Huonan. He is the son of one of the known CEOs and Kurt was famous for his gentle-like appearance. It was a stark difference of who he really was in the club. With a sigh, I put it in my bag.

“Someone will deliver your gown. Is it the same address?”

I pondered. I cannot let my mother know I’d accompany him in exchange of money. I am in desperate need of money right now, so I need to grasp whatever someone had to offer.

“No. This is the address,” I sent him a text. In that case, I had to move from my mother’s house to the house I’d rent to receive the gown without being seen by her.

He smiled at me. “Money works for you well than I do.”

Then I mocked, “Girls butts work you better than my kisses do.”

With that, I opened the door and shut him outside.
