How is it my fault?

Athena

The nurses told me that Creed had left after the surgery ended. I watched my baby sleep in her cot. So many name ideas came to my head.

"I would just name her Ava," I said to myself.

My parents came in alone with my siblings

"Where are the twins?" I asked them as they were coming to me and Ava.

"They went on a school trip." My mom replied to me.

"That's the best way to greet your dad that you have not seen in months. Sarah, you keep indulging this girl."

"Indulge, you say," I shot at him. I knew my mom would not reply to him. She was too submissive to my dad for my liking.

"You are lucky you got impregnated by the King's second son. If it was another nameless bastard you had a baby for, I would have dealt with you mercilessly."

"What age are we? You got to marry me off like you wanted. That's a win for you. This is the last time you will make me do what you want."

"It's okay." My mom hugged me and cradled my head in her arms, then she whispered to me. "Don't argue with him. He was so scared that he put a hold on his meeting while your surgery was going on."

I could not help but smile at what she said. Creed knocked on the door and he came in with bags in his hands.

The paper bags were from a very famous clothing brand. How sweet of him to bring some gifts. He exchanged pleasantries with my parents and dropped the bags on the table.

He said he had a gift for me outside, my parents waited with Ava in the ward, and Creed took me outside.

When he took off the blindfold he put on my face, the press started taking pictures. The sight of the pretty black Aston Martin that sat on the tarred road of the hospital irritated me.

I took some pictures with Creed. Pretending to be happy would be the best thing. After posing for some pictures, we got into the car and I drove off so I could give Creed a piece of my mind.

He just used me for his publicity, and it was fucking obvious.

I made a U-turn and went to ask Creed what happened that night. I should have told him I remembered nothing from that night.

I doubt if my mom knew what was wrong with me. Now that I think of it, there is something fishy about all this. I can remember everything else.

I checked my medical records while the nurses were wrapping Ava in her cot. I parked in front of the King's Mansion and I saw my husband highlight from a cab.

Did his car break down? Before I got out of the car, he had already entered the house. He walked so fast for a normal human being.

I heard a glass break when I got to the front door. He is not only rash with his words; he is careless too.

"How could you overthrow your older brother? After all, we have done to you. You are a hypocrite. I raised you to this fine age and you decide to take all my son has, his supposed-to-be bride, and now his rank as the number one billionaire heir. I always knew you were up to something." I heard a feminine voice yell.

That should be Mrs. King, Creed’s mom.

His mom is so weird. She prefers Reign to Creed. Reign is so uncultured. She continued yelling, and I didn't hear Creed talk back for once.

This could not be me. Even my mom knows her daughter so well.

"A mere son of a maid shouldn't act all mighty." She spoke out again, breaking the peaceful silence that was on for a few seconds.

Creed is their illegitimate son. This is getting interesting. I can't imagine my father's reaction when he finds out.

The main door opened, and it startled me.

"Shit," I cursed, and Creed dragged me away from the house.

"What the fuck are you doing here? When did you get here?"

"You were trying to build a good reputation with the press and you want me to go back to the hospital alone? The public will just disgrace you."

"Look, I am not in the mood for whatever you are saying right now. What do you want me to do?"

"Tell me what happened the night we met."

"If you have nothing else to say, let's go back to the hospital."

I felt tired and the urge to keep asking disappeared. I threw my car keys at him.

"You drive."

"I don't drive." He threw the key back at me.

"You don't drive, I'm not surprised. Your brother can't even wipe his mouth on his own."

His expression hardened when I mentioned his brother.

"Who's fault is it that I'm like this? I'm supposed to be in Hawaii, lazing around in my two-piece bikini on my perfect body." I yelled at him, but he just stared at me.

"You signed the paperwork for the doctor to take the baby out of me through surgery. I said I was going to do it myself."

"Quiet!" He gritted his teeth. "Do you expect me to let you sleep for another nine months? The other option the doctors had was to induce labor to wake you up, and you didn't even have the strength for a natural delivery."

I moved my mouth to talk, but he didn't give me the chance. "I don't get why you are blaming me, Athena. You slept with me. I didn't even know you before we met. "

I took steps away from him, and I went to my car. I unlocked it to go in. Creed got into the passenger's seat, too.

He fastened his belt, put his head on the headrest, and closed his eyes.

"I don’t know how to drive." He muttered before he fell asleep.
