She stares at her phone screen with a chilling ease. “ Let's see how you keep your head high after tomorrow, Aaron.” She mumbled under her breath, and scrolled down to another photo. A different one, with Nicki by his side. It was the night of his birthday. Matching outfits. Bright laminating smile sits quietly on Nicki's face. Pleased and contented. It strikes a sharp, pointed pain into her heart. Her gaze shifts briefly to the serenity radiating on Aaron's face. His hands lies perfectly on the slope of her back, while the shot was clearly taken from the side at an angle with their faces in view.

“ I was so close,” she murmured, her features going hard with visible frustration. “ Ahhh!” She shrieked, slammed the phone, screen against the wall, her hands traveling back to her hair, pulling at the blonde strands, loud, dramatic and in a near breakdown.
