Chapter 4

Rosalie stared intently at me in extreme fear. She was worried that I might agree to Julian's wishes.

Jacob was looking at me as well, his deep gaze filled with pleading.

Everyone was looking at me. I recalled the pain of carrying a pure-blood pup in my previous life, then thought about the time I spent with Jacob in the past few days. Jacob didn't seem anywhere near brutal like Rosalie claimed he was.

On the contrary, he was charming and kind, and he was especially attentive to me.

I could see that he wasn't faking it. I had been a Luna in my past life, so I was all too familiar with hypocrisy.

I bowed respectfully toward Julian. When I saw Rosalie's expression instantly turning sour, I was gleeful for a moment. "Thank you for your kindness. However, according to our pack's traditions, it's taboo for sisters to serve the same male. Moreover, Jacob has been very good to me. I believe he's not brutal at all."

Rosalie hastily added, "Oh, yes! Jacob has a huge build, so I assumed he'd be a brutal guy without thinking twice. It was my fault."

When Julian heard that, his expression grew slightly colder because of my rejection and Rosalie's words.

The Sunfire pack considered themselves to be of old noble heritage, and they were born arrogant. Despite being Julian's future Luna, Rosalie had said something quite inappropriate, so Julian felt ashamed of her.

Julian didn't say anything else. He simply ordered a subordinate to take out a moonstone necklace. When Rosalie saw the necklace set with the rare moonstone, her eyes lit up.

However, Julian walked right past her and said to me, "Clara, I respect your decision. This necklace is my wedding gift to you."

Rosalie hastily cut Julian off as she said anxiously, "Our pack and Jacob's will take care of Clara's wedding gift. You don't have to go to such lengths. Moreover, she's not joining some prestigious pack, so you don't really have to give her something so precious."

Julian's gaze turned a little colder. In my previous life, I had spent many years with Julian, so I knew his temper all too well.

Julian did not like being rejected. He also had no affection for petty females like Rosalie, nor did he approve of her looking down on me. This wasn't because he took a liking to my beauty, though. He just didn't like werewolves who disregarded their families.

Still, it was too late for regrets. Julian and Rosalie had already made a vow before the Moon Goddess to become mates. Rosalie hadn't committed any grave mistakes, so he couldn't just back out of it.

Ignoring Rosalie's glare, I accepted the necklace and said, "Thank you for the blessing. With your blessing, my bond with Jacob will definitely be made perfect."

Seeing my graceful behavior, Julian had a slightly disappointed look on his face as he left with Rosalie.

I could still hear Rosalie saying, "Don't be fooled by Clara's seductive appearance. She's obsessed with riches…"

I didn't have to look to know that Julian's expression was turning even darker.

We werewolves had always worn our hearts on our sleeves, and the same was true for Julian. He treated rules with utmost importance. If not, he wouldn't have asked to be mates with common females like me or Rosalie, who saved his life. However, he wouldn't allow anyone to doubt his judgment. Everything Rosalie said just now had pushed all the wrong buttons.

I smiled and looked at Jacob. While rubbing his hands, Jacob said in a gruff voice, "I'll be good to you, I swear."

Of course, I believed him. After spending time with him for the past few days, I had a deep understanding of him.

I wondered how he grew to dislike Rosalie in our past lives.

By the looks of it, only Rosalie herself knew the answer now. I was curious, but that had nothing to do with me anymore.

After parting ways with Rosalie on bad terms, I truly didn't want to stay in the Sunfire pack anymore.I had also confirmed that Rosalie didn't actually have my late mother's belongings. If not, she would've threatened me with them when she begged me for help last time.I packed up my things, getting ready to return to the Stoneridge pack with Jacob. Just then, the maid came in and said that Rosalie wanted to see me.The maid handed me an emerald pendant. It belonged to my late mother. Shocked, I notified Jacob before heading to Rosalie's palace.Rosalie was lying on the bed. Her face was pale, she had lost even more weight, and her belly had swelled noticeably. It was quite a frightful sight. As soon as I entered the palace, I felt that something was off. I turned around to escape, but the doors were already closed.Rosalie laughed with some difficulty. "Clara, stop wasting your energy. You can't escape."Sitting up, she tenderly caressed her belly. "Clara, do you believe in pa

In fact, I had stayed in the Sunfire pack for the moonflower. I looked coldly at her. "Rosalie, why are you trying so hard to make me stay? What exactly are you trying to do?"Rosalie didn't look at me, nor did she say anything.Out of consideration for my mother's belongings, I suppressed my irritation and stayed for a few more days. But since Rosalie had threatened me like that, I couldn't be bothered to visit her just to see how frail she had become. I just closed our doors and spent the time with Jacob. As Jacob and I were making plans to get my mother's belongings back from Rosalie, the maid suddenly entered and told us that Rosalie was in the foyer and wanted to see me.Noticing that Jacob was

The news of Rosalie's pregnancy instantly caused a sensation throughout the entire Sunfire pack. After all, it was very rare for the Sunfire pack to have descendants, and it had been a very long time since they last welcomed a pure-blood descendant.Julian's parents were elated as well. They even forgot all about the rules as the corners of their lips subconsciously turned upward.Julian even put off all his work to accompany Rosalie, or more specifically, the pup in her womb.Rosalie took the opportunity to ask me to stay, saying she wanted me to keep her company.I knew very well that Rosalie only wanted me to see her getting pampered. I hesitated for a moment, but Julian insisted that I stay.Jacob was upset, but he could see that Rosalie truly was going through a hard time. One day, Rosalie sent a letter inviting me and Jacob for a short stay at the Sunfire pack. When I received the letter, I was a little surprised, and I even suspected that it might be a trap. However, there was nothing Jacob and I owned that Rosalie could possibly want. She probably just wanted to invite me into her territory to see how well she was doing. She had probably invited Jacob along because she feared that I might seduce Julian. After receiving permission from the Alpha and the Luna, Jacob took me to the Sunfire pack.Rosalie seemed to have changed completely. She now wore extravagant clothes and exquisite accessories on her head. She could adapt to life in the Sunfire pack better than I did because she was obsessed with luxuries and willing to put on airs for wealth and status.Well, that wasn't quite it. Since young, Rosalie had dreamed of an exquisite and magnificent life like this. One of my earliest memories was lying in the Elder's arms, biting into roasted meat, a

On the day of the ceremony, Rosalie was still upset when she saw my gifts.Jacob pitied me because Rosalie had taken away most of the blessings I should have received from the pack. So, he transported various precious resources from Stoneridge pack overnight to make up for it. The resources included rare herbs, the loyalty pacts of several loyal guards, and weapons bearing ancient markings.Hence, the gifts I was taking with me to my new pack were even grander than Rosalie's.I was prettier than Rosalie, so after dressing even in the common ceremonial attire of our pack, which couldn't compare to Rosalie's luxurious robes decorated with colorful feathers, I still overshadowed her.Rosalie glared at me. Under Julian's disapproving gaze, she reluctantly got into the ornate beast-drawn carriage headed toward the Sunfire pack. The two grand processions parted ways at the entrance of Silvermoon pack's territory. I looked behind me to see the Elder standing tearfully on the watchtower,
