Bella’s POV
“No,” I said, gritting my teeth. “You can’t do that.”
“You’re hardly leaving me a choice, sweetheart.” He said, “I wish we could do this differently, in my bedroom for instance.”
“I don’t want to be with you, why is it so hard for you to understand?”
“I can give you everything you want.” He said, “I’m the strongest man on the earth. Anything you want shall be at your feet. Most women would kill to be in your position, Bella. What is holding you back?”
I could think of a million reasons why I didn’t
Life poured into him as his longing eyes found mine. A relieved sigh erupted out of him, disbelief etched on his face. As he walked toward me, the reality of finding me still seemed astonishing for him. Within seconds, he was kneeling by my side, his arms wrapping around me.“Bella,” he mumbled, his voice thick with new found relief. Cupping my cheek with his right hand, he tilted my face to get a closer look. With urgency, his lips crashed on mine. His soft lips moved against mine with fervor, unrestrained emotion pouring out of him. I couldn’t remember the last time I relished the security of his arms, the warmth of his kiss.Tightening his arms around me, he pulled me closer into his embrace. My body melted against him, finally falling into the cocoon of protection. I’d waited for hi
I only awoke when I felt the car come to an abrupt halt. Startled, I sat up straight at once, but the familiar surroundings instantly calmed my nerves. A sigh of relief left my mouth as my eyes landed on a huge mansion. I was finally home. Lucien opened the door to my side, and I swiftly got down. As soon as I did, my eyes found my mother who was just coming out of the house.Tears welled my eyes at the sight of her. How much I missed her! My legs involuntarily started making their way to her in haste, and within a second, I was in her arms. I wrapped my arms around her neck as tears ran past my cheeks, endless sobs erupting out of me.“Oh, my darling,” My mother said, kissing my shoulder, “I was scared to death something had happened to you!”
Kiara’s POVCold water cascaded down my body as I stood rooted in my place. Clasping my eyes shut, I felt my muscles tense as the relentless shower poured from above, drenching me entirely. My breathing was shallow as teeth chattered against each other, protesting against the chill but I refused to move away. I knew that this was a fleeting moment of torment necessary to charge my body, while numbing any soreness in my body.Early riser that I was, I woke up before the sun’s rays filled the sky. I had only gotten a few hours of sleep in the past few days, but my body refused to spend any more time on the bed. Realizing there was going to be no use in trying to chase sleep once I’d woken up, I’d decided to take a quick shower.Soon en
Kiara’s POV“She hasn’t left her room for two days.” I jumped as I heard Lucien’s voice behind me.Looking over my shoulder, I found him standing a few feet away from me, an irritated look etched on his face. He looked at me with disappointment and anger, as though I hadn’t finished a task that was assigned to me. His reaction made me frown, making me wonder why he was complaining to me at all.“Maybe she wants to be alone,” I said, focusing my eyes back at the mountains that sat in the distance. The sun was still hovering in the sky casting its evening glow but the eager moon had already leapt out. The atmosphere around me was serene and calm, soothing my nerves. I was about to completely submerge myself in i
“I can’t believe you’re making me do this.” Marcus grumbled as we went down the stairs.“Good, now also remind yourself why.” I said, glaring over my shoulder. I couldn’t understand why he was so upset with me. Did he really think I was doing this all for Lucien? The man tried to abduct me, for heaven’s sake! Why would I ever favor him? Moreover, even if I was favoring him, I would own up to it. I would never use Bella as an excuse to do it, he should know at least that.I heard him sigh in defeat as I walked to Bella’s room. Ignoring his sulking figure behind me, I raised my hand up to knock on the door. We were patiently waiting outside the room but Bella never arrived. Frowning, I knocked again but was again greeted by silence.
Lucien was standing there in utter disbelief, unable to accept what he just heard. He slowly started making his way toward us, his eyes desperately searching for an answer he wanted to hear.“What are you talking about?” He finally uttered, walking toward her.“Lucien,” I started, “You shouldn’t-”“No,” he raised his hand up to stop me, “I need to hear it.”And then, he looked toward Bella again, “What did you just say?”She gritted her teeth before she said, “You shouldn’t have made that deal with my brother.”
Lucien was about to get into a car when I called his name. Picking up the pace in my steps, I hurried toward him. He shoved his bag into the back seat before he turned around to look at my approaching figure, a determined look etched on his face.“What?”“You can’t possibly think she means what she said.” I said, “You of all people should know that she is clearly lying.”“Honestly, I don’t care.” he said, “Because no matter what the truth is, Marcus is never going to let me be with her. I was willing to fight for her until my last breath, but if she refuses to admit her love for me infront of her own family, then perhaps I deserve better.”
“Stop ogling your man, Kiara.” Bernard said from beside me.I instantly widened my eyes as blood rushed to my face. Oh, god. Turning toward him, I fixed him with a glare.“What?” He mumbled back at my reaction, as though it was part of the normal now.Scowling, I nodded to my right where Marcus was also training close by. We were definitely within his ear shot, and I was sure he had heard what Bernard said just now.“So what?” Bernard dismissed me and rolled his eyes, “Hopefully it will make him think straight.”Surprisingly, amidst everything, Bernard emerged as the sole warrior
