Chapter 12

Renae’s POV

Seated on the prince patio, I tended to his wounds, trying my best not to carelessly touch his body.

Reaching for a cotton swab close to his hands, I raised my eyes slowly. His eyes met with mine and for a moment, it felt like I had just jumped into a pool of fireflies. My body heated up to his sudden stare.

Immediately, my eyes fell back to his bruises, I hoped he didn’t find me staring. I could face dear penalties for a slight wrong move.

I could feel his eyes on me, but I dare not stare back. My eyes hovered around an already treated injury, hoping he could stare away so that I could tend to other injuries.

My thumbs swept across his skin which made my skin tingle in so many weird ways. My cheek warmed up to these slight touches, and each time, I fought a grin off my face so he didn't catch me blushing.

All of his wounds were tended to, aside from the spot I had been avoiding. It was the wound on his chest where the poisonous arrow had hit him.
