Chapter 21: Darren's wife

The rest of the day I stayed a bit distant from him, he would help me make supper and clean up like he always did. He always made me feel like he was my equal, no roles. With Darren I did everything and it was never enough, the house was never clean enough, the laundry was never done fast enough, supper wasn’t good enough but Steve never complained.

Once we got into bed and I turned away from him, he wrapped his arm around me,

“Are you angry I talked to Darren?”

I shook my head.

“Why are you mad then?”

I sat up, “I’m not mad. Why should I be, we’ve never labeled us. But if things got more intense I mean at some point we would need to move forward we can’t hide from Darren forever.”

He laughed a bit and with a really annoying joking voice, “But why I’m scared of him!”

I began to laugh although I was trying to stick to my guns. I crossed my arms and looked at him, “Are you going to hide me in the closet, what if Darren comes here what do I do? Tell you not to come around anymore.”
