Kim woke up in the middle of the deep night. She feels peeing. She entered the restroom directly. Soon, she jumped in panic. She immediately put on her shorts when she saw the person on top of the ceiling. Kim ran in fear even though she was still stumbling. She does not care. She can only get away from that person. Who is that? Why is she on top of the ceiling? What did she do there? Kim was shaking with fear. Her heartbeat quickened.

It was Daniel's room that she thought she entered. They are just inside the house. Her Mommy and Margo are in the hospital. They are watching over their mother who is confined because of the accident that happened yesterday. That's why Kim went home. Because of Margo's request to accompany Denniel home.

The door closed suddenly. Kim was shocked. She turned the doorknob and knocked on it, to open but the female voice she heard speaking inside Daniel's room. She nibbled on the small opening to peek in there. Her round eyes widened when she saw the white lady. Kim's heart was pounding when the woman suddenly disappeared. Where is she? In her mind. She was still blinking but, Kim stood up in shock when Denniel was in front of her. The corners of her eyes darkened and her, hair blasted. Her feet were bare and covered with mud. Where is she wearing it? "Why is she muddy?"  Kim asked, confused.

"D-Denniel.." Kim's voice trembled. Scary! Denniel looked and seemed sleepless because of the redness in her eyes.

"W-what happened to you? Why are you so w?ll. " She didn't continue what she was going to say when Denniel suddenly turned around and headed out of the house. Kim looked at the wall clock of the house. It was midnight and the dog was barking non-stop. She was even more nervous, to see Denniel come out in the middle of the night. Where is it going, What’s going on with Denniel why is she acting differently this late? From the moment they had an accident and became comatose. I notice her actions. Always floating and intermittently in front of you suddenly, then not speaking. She's so worried Denniel. Kim doesn't know what she do now?

Kim cried out in shock when the landline suddenly rang. She answered immediately the caller.

"Kim?"

"Sister, Margo!"

"Kim. I saw Denniel here at the hospital but.. why aren't you with him?" Margo asked Kim in surprise.

"Sister, I don't know.." She replied.

"What don't you know?" Margo shock.

"C-cause. I can't understand Daniel's actions anymore! I don't know how she got there, so fast? There's no car at this time! And she's missing sister!" Kim's explanation was hoarse in her voice, she is confused and frightened by the amount she sees in this house. There are many inexplicable.

"W-what? My sister disappears! Why didn't you look for him?" Margo shouted angrily.

"H-here it is.. I'll look for him!" Kim groaned. The call was cut off suddenly.

Kim took a deep breath. She is forced to look for Denniel at this time of night. She was crossing the path that Denniel was treading. She knew it would not go away. Kim hugged herself. Because of the breeze. The silence of the night added to the fear she felt now, your fear, that you struggle to resist. Just for a friend who cares about it.

In the old house, Kim found Denniel. It was just standing in front of the house. It doesn’t blink while looking at the house. She saw two human shadows on. She thinks they will marry. What Denniel is doing here. That's what she didn't know.

"Denniel.. you're just here! What are you doing here, it's late. come on, it's cold here!" I walked her home. But I was amazed at how cold and quiet Denniel was there, used to be no time for them not to exchange words, but now it's amazing. What she sees in the house adds to the fact that she doesn't know if, she's imagining it or not.

"Mommy.. daddy. "Kim heard its call, the word Denniel uttered while facing that old house that she was very surprised. Kim was swallowed by saliva. Especially when she saw her crying.

"Denniel.. hey? What's your drama there?" She says. But it ignored him.

"Mommy.." she said again. Kim scratched her head so hard she was confused.

Kim waved one hand at Daniel's face. But it's just drama. Her eyes were still focused on the old house.

Until we heard someone shouting inside the house and asking for help. I looked at Denniel. It did not move.. it remained where it was.

"Denniel! There's trouble in the house.. come let's help." She pulled it, in and found out what was going on inside that house. But it did not move until the noise in the house subsided. The next a fire broke out inside. Kim also saw two men come out of the house. They were hooded with a gray jacket and converse were wearing shoes, she thought they looked like teenagers.. it also passed in front of them. They seem to have been ignored.

"Denniel the house is on fire! Come let's help them?" I said, but turned away and left him without a word. She just looked at the burning house. She then followed Denniel.

Kim would wake up in the morning. The breeze is cold. She could not sleep well because her thoughts troubled her mind. First, she sees the man on the ceiling still watching. Two, The woman choked him. Third, in Daniel's room.. and it's weird her actions! Third, every day we hear of people being killed. What happened to them is frightening, only demons can do that.

Kim looked at the door. Someone was knocking earlier. No one else will open but him. So she got up and opened the knock on the outside door.

"Who are they?" She says.  The three policemen were outside.

"Good morning Ma'am, we receive a call last night from here?" The police greeted him politely.

"Why? What's the matter?" Kim's question is intriguing here.

"Did you call last night?" A policeman asked him. She called last night, nor did she report the burning house. But why are they here now?

"That's me?" Kim stammered.

"Because. Ma'am, we went to the address you said. What we saw was an abandoned building. Besides, no one has lived there for seven years!"

"What? But.. I saw --- " she can't continue what she wants to say.

"Ma'am maybe.. you're mistaken because a lot of people complained to us in that area. What do they see in that house? Ghosts! Raw allegedly." A policeman said, with obesity. They laughed, he thought I have a brain defect.

"It is true, I said, Sir?" She asks, But they are just shaking.

Her, the hair stood on end suddenly. A cold wind caressed her skin as if something had passed people.

"S-sir. I'm sorry, I don't know?" She replied, smiling plastic. They just nodded and left. Kim is even more confused by what she knows.

But the truth is there are many wonders today.

The dark laugh from the basement sent fear rushing through all of them again. But Cheska forced herself to think. Her mind moved fast, trying to connect everything they had seen. The locked room. Her grandfather’s grimoire. The strange, unsettling portraits. All of it pointed to something far worse than a simple gas leak. While her friends stayed close together, shaking with fear, Cheska looked down at the small leather journal in her hands. It was her grandfather’s. The same journal her mother warned her about… the same one Lola Elena tried to hide.“This,” Cheska said firmly, her voice cutting through the panic, “is our only chance. My grandfather’s journal. It might have answers… or at least help us understand what we’re facing.”Marco, his face pale, slowly nodded. “She’s right. We need to know what that thing is… and how to stop it.”Ben tightened his grip on the iron poker. He looked at the journal, fear and hope mixed in his eyes. “Do you think it tells us how to fight it?”Ch

The door burst open with a loud crack, followed by a deep, animal-like roar. It was a sound Cheska knew she would never forget. A huge shadow filled the doorway. She couldn’t clearly see its form in the darkness, but she could feel it—heavy, suffocating, and full of evil. The whispers grew louder, turning into a deafening chorus. It felt like the voices were coming straight from the creature itself—hundreds, maybe thousands, all screaming the same word.“Mine… mine… mine…”Lia let out a piercing scream, raw and full of fear. Ben, who had been trying to act brave earlier, stumbled backward. He tripped over a fallen book and hit the floor hard. Marco stood frozen for a second, his face pale with shock, before quickly pulling Cheska behind him, trying to protect her—even if it felt useless against something like this. But Cheska didn’t move.Fear still gripped her chest, cold and tight, but something else was rising inside her—something stronger. Determination. The images she saw from th

The door to the locked room slammed shut with a loud, echoing bang, trapping them in a darkness so thick it felt like it was swallowing them whole. For a moment, no one could see anything—not even their own hands. Then the sounds came. The frantic scratching in the hallway grew louder, faster, more desperate. The low, guttural growling turned into something far worse—a deep, chilling roar that seemed to shake the floor beneath them. It wasn’t just outside… it felt close. Too close. And then, the whispers. At first, they were faint. But slowly, they grew louder, clearer—twisting together into a terrifying chorus of voices. Cold. Angry. Hungry.“Mine… mine… mine…”The word repeated over and over, crawling into their ears, slipping into their minds like a poison they couldn’t escape.Panic gripped Cheska’s chest, sharp and suffocating. She could barely breathe. Beside her, Lia was screaming—a desperate, high-pitched cry that echoed in the darkness before being swallowed completely, as if

  • NIGHTSHIFT    Chapter 20- Fear and Resolve

The malevolent chuckle that came from behind the basement door shattered what little composure they had left. It wasn’t just a normal sound—it felt wrong, unnatural, like something ancient and thinking was hiding just beneath their feet. The kind of sound that didn’t belong in the world of the living. Then came the silence. It pressed down on them, heavy and suffocating, as if the house itself was holding its breath… waiting to see what they would do next.Lia broke first. She sobbed openly, her whole body shaking as if she might collapse at any moment. Ben, his face pale and lifeless, bent down to pick up the iron poker he had dropped. His hands trembled so badly that it slipped from his grip once before he finally managed to hold it tight.Marco—always the calm one, the one who never panicked—stood frozen. His eyes were wide, filled with fear that mirrored Cheska’s own. For the first time, he looked completely unsure of himself. But Cheska… her fear felt different.Yes, she was terr

Mang Tonyo’s departure left a deeper silence behind, heavier than before. It felt like the whole house had swallowed his presence, leaving only a cold and uneasy feeling. His strange warnings and unclear answers made everything more mysterious. Cheska couldn’t shake the thought that Mang Tonyo wasn’t just a caretaker—he was someone who knew the dark secrets of the house, someone who had seen things he refused to speak about. Ben still held the iron poker in his hand, but now it didn’t feel like a weapon anymore. It felt useless, like it couldn’t protect them from something they couldn’t even see. “So, what now?” Lia asked softly, her voice almost disappearing in the large, empty entryway. “Do we… just pick rooms?” Marco, trying to stay calm, stepped forward and took control. “First, we need to make this place safe, or at least try. Ben, check all the windows and doors on the ground floor. Make sure they can be locked. Lia, you and Cheska look for the fuse box or anything that can

The doll’s cracked, empty eyes felt wrong—like it knew something, like it was silently blaming them. Even though it was just an object, it gave her chills. As they walked down the grand staircase, the house grew quiet again. But it wasn’t a peaceful silence. It felt heavy… like something was watching and waiting.“Well, that was anticlimactic,” Ben said, trying to sound relaxed, but his voice still shook a little. “It’s just a doll. Nothing to worry about.”Lia hugged herself, still uneasy. “I don’t know, Ben. It felt… intentional. Like something wanted us to notice it.”Marco, trying to stay practical, spoke up. “Whatever that was, we need to focus. We should figure out where to sleep—and check if there’s water or electricity.
