Shackles

CHAPTER THREE(shackles)

      Lillian was cooking in the kitchen when Mark walked in,he took a bottle of water from the refrigerator and poured water in a glass,he didn't drink the water,he placed it on top of the table at the centre of the kitchen.

       "What are we going to do on our second wedding anniversary? Candlelight dinner or a small night party?". He asked Lillian. Their second wedding anniversary was just around the corner,Mark noticed his wife has been lost in her thoughts recently.

          " none,let's just live it like every normal day.  Lillian have been too busy thinking about babies,at first she didn't want to rush but now it has been two years and she haven't even had a miscarriage. What is nice but is annoying to her is that her husband doesn't even pressure her for children.

         "Sweets,what's wrong? you've been acting too moody these days,we can't live it like any other day,its our two years anniversary, its something to celebrate. Mark said  moving closer to her.

      " Are you okay,sweets,are you really okay,it's been two years,we don't a have child and you're playing cool about it,aren't you worried? Lillian have been thinking a lot about having babies,when she went to visit her friend Jemima who has a baby,carrying the baby,she was envious.

      "We will have our baby, when the right time comes. Mark wants a child but he doesn't want to pressure his wife.

         Lillian had talked to Mark about them going to visit the doctor for check up but he always refused." I don't want the doctor telling me some false bad news" he would always reply. Lillian thought something was wrong with Mark. She had judged him several times in her thoughts.

          Though Mark refused her opinion of visiting a doctor,she visited a doctor secretly. She was curious to know if the problem was hers or Mark's.

        After her check up,the doctor told her she couldn't have a baby,its a slight chance for her to have a baby and if she becomes pregnant, the baby will die since her womb is too fragile to carry a child. Immediately after the doctor told her her plight, her hands became cold and she was numb. She even accused her husband of being the problem but alas it was her.

      When she got home,she was too guilty to stare at Mark,she even avoided eye contact with him. He didn't know she had a check up or if she thought he was infertile but she still felt guilty.

        The next day,Lillian visited her mom. She needed to tell her mom about her problem but her mother kept talking about how her business was bad,at some point, she(Lillian) wanted someone to listen to her but her mom also wanted someone to listen to her too. We are all humans, we need someone to listen to us.

        When Lillian visited her friend Jemima, carrying Jemima's baby,she felt the warmth of a child and she couldn't control herself, she cried. When Jemima noticed the sadness of her friend, she told her  "you can't have a baby"?. Though she asked such a question, she wanted her friend to behave outrageously and say no,get angry at her but she replied " yes" and Jemima gave her a hug,it wouldn't solve anything but sometimes,some people just needs to be hugged.
