#7- Second Note

Jade bounced to the front door after parking her car. She waved at the guard standing close to the gate, he seemed surprised but waved back at her hurriedly as though if he wasted a second it would become an illusion.

She smiled, pushed the door open and sighed immediately. "Home".

She could smell the aroma of baked macaroni, ham, rice and beans, apple crumble cake, and steak as soon as she walked in.

Her father was a famous chef and he owned a good number of restaurants around. Her stomach grumbled loudly

"Now was that an earthquake?"

"Hey Dad, " she wished she could run to her father, like a five-year-old, hug him tight, and tell him all about today but who was she kidding? "School better today?" he asked and she hid her blush in her hands as she whispered "I guess."

"I want to hear all about it. " He replied. "Not a chance Dad" Jade replied. "Then I guess there's nothing for you here. " Lucas McKenzie said, blowing the air to her nose in an attempt to make her take in the smell more.

"Mum will give it to me, " she answered with a little smirk making him smile a bit. Rare. "Smart little thing just like your mum, but I still have some tricks in my sleeves" he waved his hand in the air like a magician then pounced on her tickling the air out of her, she was choking on her laughter.

"Dad I-I-I" she laughed harder caught unawares.

"And what do the both of you think you're doing?" The both of them halted at once as they turned simultaneously to face a serious-faced Lucy McKenzie. Lucas scratched the back of his head, he looked like a deer caught in headlights.

"We were just bonding Your Highness" his eyes lit up, and he looked like he had come up with the best reply. "Yes, exactly, we were bonding, you know father-daughter bonding" he added grinning cheekily at his wife.

It sounded odd since her dad never made this much effort with her Jade thought, sometimes her mother put him up to it.

"Oh, I see" her mum answered, walking slowly but predatory towards them, it was a show Jade could tell. Lucas stood up so he was facing her still scratching his head. "Bounding and throwing my baby on the floor and making her laugh to the point of sickness"

Jade smiled to herself, she knew where this was coming from and where it was going. "You know what that means Lucas-"

"Two more days in the kitchen" Dad ended it for her, but her mum nodded her head as if to say continue, so he did. "Three actually or four, five or more "

Jade walked on all fours making her escape to the kitchen unnoticed, leaving the couple to their selves.

She knew her mum had talked her dad into the bonding with your kid's role again, but she knew more than anyone it would end in a matter of hours, they'd both be too busy to check.

Just as she was about to dip her hand in the baked macaroni. "Gotcha!" and she was caught. "Jan" she laughed awkwardly. What are you doing here? " Jade added, her fork was just an inch from reaching the food.

"I'm going to tell mum," Jan said with a smirk. "Go ahead" Jan chuckled "Just kidding, now don't be stingy let's share"

They ignored the chattering of their parents, dished their food, and ate in silence

Behind the scenes, their parents had stopped the chatting and stood to watch them both.

She turned to her husband "Lucas, did you teach my children how to steal?"

"No, I didn't"

"Yes you did"

"No, I didn't "

"You did and for that two more days in the kitchen"

"I understand Lucy now let's go join them before they finish the whole food". He sighed in defeat

She kissed her husband fondly, she didn't care what her kids did, so long as they weren't committing crimes and getting into trouble.

After dressing in her night clothes Jade lay on her bed. She got her bag open and placed all its content on the bed, she took her math notebook, and a blue piece of paper fell out of it, and she picked it up.

"How did this get here?" She flipped it over, and on the outer part, it read.

"Jade green eyes"

Yes, she had green eyes but no one had ever acknowledged it before, so it was definitely not for her, but she still wanted to open it regardless. How did it get into her bag though?

Then she remembered, her books had fallen, she must have packed someone else's note by mistake. Should probably shouldn't not open it but curiosity got the best of her. It wouldn't blow of like a bomb would it? She opened it slowly.

She was left gasping by a mere note, seconds later. The realization hit her, the stranger had left a note again. Was he the hot guy from earlier who saved her twice? She didn't feel like doing her assignments anymore.

She kept on reading the little sweet note over and over again.

She didn't even see his face, nothing at all.

First at the hospital, then in school. "Geez, how could she be so dumb?" Why hadn't she at least seen his face? Damn, shyness!

She scolded herself, but she couldn't help but think it was for the best. Maybe he just felt pity for her and it was nothing to take to heart, but still, it'd be better to know a face, and a thank you would be nice.

She only knew that he was tall, scratch that. His extremely tall, his voice was deep and his assent hit differently. At least she knew something about him, and she knew he must have been a new student.

She was interrupted by a knock on her door.

"Could it be her stranger? She joked around in her head, but again she shouldn't be thinking much about him at all. Her inner self scolded her, only the princesses have knights. What would he be doing in her house? She knew the answer already so she left her trance.

"Bang-bang" She got up went to her door and opened it. "What took you so long?" Her sister pushed the door open, and directly to her bed to make herself comfortable.

She just stood there with a raised brow, Jan huffed " Look, I can't sleep alone tonight okay? So can I crash here? " Jade didn't speak. Out of disappointment she just closed the door and went into her bathroom.

She took out her note from her PJ pocket and read it again before going back to bed with a grin that was hidden by the darkness that evaded her room.

"Thomas Jefferson then "Queen mean", really?
