Suddenly, someone placed a hand on my shoulder, causing me to jump."Sebastian!" I yelped, taking a step back. "You scared me to death!""Luna, why don't you let me take it from here?" He opened a leather pouch on the counter, filled with implements of destruction. "There's no need for you to soil your hands with the likes of him."I scoffed. "You're the Destroyer?"He shrugged. "Over the years, I've seemed to have earned the nickname."The two shifters I saw in the hallway stepped in and frowned when they saw me. "Luna," they both said in unison, obviously not pleased that I was there.I let out a deep breath. "Sebastian, may I speak with you in the hallway?""By all means!" He smiled as he looked over his shoulder at the prisoner. "My fun can wait a bit longer. He's not going anywhere."The man behind the bars scoffed, shaking his head. I walked past the two shifters, and Sebastian followed. When we were in the hallway, I turned to him. "Be careful. He's the Hunter that wiped out T
When I walked into my suite, Xander and Elias were still asleep. I checked them both, and they were resting quietly. So, I called down for some pizzas for all of us, knowing that Elias and Xander would be famished when they woke. "Dining Room," someone said, sounding not nearly as professional as Sebastian had sounded. But of course, Sebastian was with the member of Nightshade, terrorizing him with his implements of destruction. I hoped he got some useful information soon. We had to find their headquarters before all of Nevada is crawling with them."Yes, I'd like you to send up three pizzas...." I proceeded to tell him the order."We'll bring that right up to you, Luna." Then the line suddenly went dead. It was strange that I hadn't said who I was or from which room I was calling. Yet, he knew who I was. But then again, they probably had Caller ID. I checked on the guys one more time and pulled the door nearly closed, not wanting to disturb them. Then I went into the living room
"I think you'd better get some rest," I said to Xander after we finished eating. "I'm going to check on Elias and then try and get some sleep tonight, too. I have training in the morning and don't want to miss it."Xander shrugged. "Yeah, I'm pretty tired, too. Mind if I sleep here tonight?" He smirked. "I promise to behave myself.""Yes, of course. I don't mind at all." I motioned with my head toward the bedroom. "Come on." I took his hand and led him into the bedroom, pulled the blankets back, and covered him over once he was in bed. "I'll be back in a bit.""Don't be long."I walked around the bed to Elias and checked to make sure he didn't have a fever. But when I started to walk away, he caught my hand. "Don't leave.""Yeah, that's what I said," Xander chimed in, turning over. "How are you feeling, Elias?" I asked, sitting on the edge of the bed. He nodded. "I'm fine. My head's still hurting, but not nearly as bad as it was."A smile lit my lips. "Okay. If you start feeling bad
"Okay, everyone!" Eve announced toward the end of practice. "We're going to play a little game. It's called High Low. You will get into two lines. Then you will anticipate whether your opponent is going to go high or low. Try to flip your opponent, but do not hurt one another. Is that clear?""Aye!" everyone yelled in unison."Let's go!" Eve said in the Pack Mind. "I want one group over here, and another group facing them over here!""Well, here goes nothing," Seven said as he jogged off, but I stayed on the opposite side."Go!" Eve said, and the first two shifters ran straight into each other, and both fell backward. They yelped a bit and then went back to the end of their lines."Anticipate what your enemy will do!" Eve yelled. "Next two, go!"The following two shifters ran toward each other, and one went high, and the other went low, using his shoulder to flip his opponent."Well done!" Eve praised. "Go!"The following wolves ran at each other. This time, the one who went high jumpe
"After practice, Sasha took my clothes."Xander and Elias nearly spit out their coffee, laughing."She what?" Xander asked, trying to suppress a smile. I nodded. Then I told them what had happened, and they both burst out laughing when I told them what I did to her at the boutique. "But I think she may be the mole for Nightshade."Elias scoffed. "Kalyssa, just because she played a prank on you doesn't mean that she's a spy."Then I told them what she said when she tried to pressure me into telling her what the Nightshade prisoner had said."Again, that doesn't mean that she's a mole," Elias said. "She's been a member of this pack for a long time. Why would she ruin her status in the pack for Nightshade?""But you weren't there," I added, staring into space. "You should have seen her expression when I told her that the prisoner told me that she was a spy."Xander burst out laughing. "You're kidding.""Nope," I replied. "I'd be careful with her. There's something about her that I don't
With no more patients on the horizon, Bailey and I locked up the Clinic and headed toward the cafeteria. Even though it was the afternoon, it was still early. So, we were sure that they hadn't locked down the place to prepare for dinner yet. "So, when would you like to begin our training?" As we stepped into the cafeteria, I saw I was right; the buffet was still open. I took a plate, handed it to Bailey, and then took one for myself, too. Bailey shrugged, stepping up in line. "Today, if you like."My eyes nearly bugged out of my head. "Seriously? You're not too tired?"She chuckled as she slipped a piece of rotisserie chicken onto her plate and then moved down. "I'm a shifter. I don't get tired or sore, not unless it's something serious." She shrugged. "And now that you're a shifter, you won't either."A smile lit my lips as I took a huge piece of rotisserie chicken, and then another. I had never eaten so much in my life, but for some reason, I was famished. "And I won't age either?"
After we finished lunch, Bailey and I said goodbye to Cruz and headed to the Clinic. There wasn't anything going on for the rest of the day, so we sat around and chatted until I finally called it a day."Well, it doesn't look as if we're going to be doing anything more today, so let's pack it up," I said, already shutting down the machines. "Hey! We have some time this afternoon, so why don't I show you a few things?"I smirked. "You don't mind?"Bailey shook her head as a smile lit her face. "No. Not at all." She motioned with her head toward the door. "Let's go to the practice ring."I chuckled. "The practice ring?"She nodded. "I'll tell you what. Go change your clothes and gather your things, and I'll meet you outside the Clinic in just a bit."A smile lit my lips as we headed toward the door. "Are you sure you don't mind?"She shook her head. "Of course not!" We headed down the hallway and then turned and waved. "I'll see you in a minute!""Okay!" I waved back, amused."Don't sta
"Hello?" I asked when I walked in. "Is anyone here?""Hello." A man dressed in black pants with a white chef's coat and hat stepped around the corner. "I am Chef Fabrizio Lo Faso, your chef for this evening," he said in a thick Italian accent. "Please. Come right this way."When I walked into the dining room, the table was beautifully set, covered in a white tablecloth with fine white china, and two white taper candles in crystal holders flickered on the table, casting romantic shadows around the room. Both Elias and Xander stood, dressed in black suits with what looked to be black muscle shirts beneath, looking as sexy as ever. Their hair was combed to perfection, and they both smelled divine, like musk and rain.Xander approached, reaching for my hand. "Welcome." He lifted my hand to his lips and kissed it, then he tucked it in his arm and led me to the table. Elias held my chair. "You look fantastic." He slid the chair under me and kissed my cheek while inhaling my scent. "What's
