Chapter Thirteen

She cried herself to sleep, Gretchen carried her inside to her chambers, he laid her down on her bed and stayed with her,

"Will she be fine?" Asked Gamiel to enter her room,

"Yes, she will," replied Gretchen,

"I hope she doesn't hate me," said Gamiel,

"Why would she do that?" Asked Gretchen

"It is part of my fault that Alstin left," replied Gamiel,

"No, it's not, it was bound to happen," said Gretchen,

"Dinner is ready," said Gamiel,

"Not hungry, go ahead," replied Gretchen.

He sat at the edge of her bed where she laid her head on his legs, he stroked her hair with his hand, thinking.

They ate in silence, everyone to his thoughts, Brent wasn't at the table too, they had not seen him that evening after Alstin's departure,

"How is she?" Asked Brent, as he entered Aubrey's chamber,
