“We will now take off, I urge you to sit tight and make yourselves comfortable”

The cheesy voice of the air hostess echoed through

Sharon smiled slightly

She sat on a plush white cushion, a table was set in front of her with various appetizers

Luca was in another room, keeping his word to make things appear like they met on the trip

It was delusional, but cute

Their first encounter was terrible, their second, even worse

And now they were just supposed to forget everything, the doubt, the uncertainty, all of it

It was like—

A fresh start

A sort of do over.

They never got to discover anything about each other before they were married, never courted, never had genuine moments

Their marriage was like a death sentence, a cross they had to carry, a burden they were straddled with

Maybe if they had met under normal circumstances, maybe if they weren't forced into a union, things would've been different

For Sharon, it was going to be a journey of self discovery. She was twenty three years old, had no particular hobbies, didn't even know what she was good at. She only recently found out that she was a fast learner and could make a perfect cup of coffee

Before all that, everything she did, every step she took in life was predetermined by her father. He controlled everything she did, dictated all her affairs, to the point where she no longer knew who she was, or what she wanted

But now, she could get to discover herself, in ways she never thought possible

Was she excited for it? yes

Would she let the asshole in the other room know? Absolutely not

Speaking about the asshole in the other room—

“I beg your pardon Bella, may I sit?”

Sharon looked up at the intruder

It was none other than Luca himself

“Excuse me, who are you exactly?”

He smiled

“My name's Luca, but I think

You can call me anything you want”

“Asshole”

“What?”

“I choose to call you asshole, you may sit”

Luca smiled as he sat

“It’s Riann, I don't think I can endure another session of your fine talk before you finally ask my name”

They both laughed

“You're an interesting person Riann, please take my card”

He slipped a card to her side of the table

It was his credit card. Since they were going to stay in different houses, they needed to live independently if the act was going to look reasonable.

She swatted the card away

“No thanks, I don't collect stuff from strangers”

She reached into her bag and grabbed her purse, pulled out her own credit card and flashed it at him

When Luca said they were going to act like they didn't know each other, she came prepared. She wouldn't spend his money

He picked up the card and clasped her fingers around it

“I insist”

This was no debate, Luca was funding the trip, with or without her consent. And Sharon knew that it wasn't up for discussion

They locked eyes for a moment

“Well thank you kind stranger, do you always force random women to collect stuff?”

“Only those I find particularly interesting”

“Well Asshole

It's a pleasure to meet you—”

********************

“Good morning, can I take your order?”

“Oh yes please, I'll have a cup of coffee and a medium sized burger”

Claire's eyes went wide. He was the last person in the world she expected to see

“Coming right up”

Their eyes connected for a moment, then she turned around to take his order

“Fuck!”

“What the hell is that dipshit doing here

How did he even know I worked here

Oh my gosh! Is he stalking me?

He's definitely stalking me, there's no other explanation

Just act calm, and hopefully he won't ever come here again”

Claire took his food to his table, trying to act as normal as possible

“Here's your order, hope you enjoy it”

She said, a pennywise smile plastered on her face

She had smeared the words “Go away” with ketchup on his bun

Arman chuckled as she walked away

Claire was confused. Arman was out for her, she knew it. He definitely suspected her for something, and she was guilty as hell.

He was present during her last conversation with Sharon, he heard every word, every single word. Not that she told Sharon anything about the Donald agenda, infact she tried so desperately to avoid the topic entirely

But she felt that Arman could see through her alibi, like he knew when she was lying, knew when she was trying to cover up

Knew the pain behind her smile—

She told Sharon she was sorry, told her she could've been there for her, said she was caught up with “romance”

She sugar-coated everything, told Sharon she wasn't with Donald at the moment because she missed her simple life, and was just there momentarily

She didn't mention the part where Donald used her to get vital information from her family, how she threw away her conscience and took photos of her battered and bruised mother. Photos that could be used as evidence against her family

She also didn't mention how Donald verbally and physically abused her. She told Sharon she liked her hair short, she never mentioned that Donald pulled out her hair

And Arman, she felt like he could see through it all—

I felt his eyes move from my face,to my neck, to my cleavage. The robe did what it could—I could feel the heat rising inside of me. He wanted me, I could see it in his eyes. But I had to resist him, I mean we had barely even spent a day.If I was going to make it through in one piece, I needed to get him off my mind. That was the problem precisely. He was Luca Pavilochenki—“Ciao Bella signora!”I looked around for the owner of the squeaky voice, but I couldn't find himThen I looked down. He was standing between us, looking at me like I was the most fascinating thing in the world He was missing a few teeth, probably six or seven years old. And then I remembered the chorus that morning. Could he be one of them?“Well hello”I said, wondering if he had been there the whole time. If he had watched me and Luca grow awkward. But wait, he didn't understand English.I heaved a sigh of relief as I patted him on the headHe smiled at me, his missing teeth making him all the more cuteThen h

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY HUSBAND    CHAPTER 57

Welcome to Italy! The air hostess’ words filtered through space Sharon's mind was far away. Her and Luca hadn't seen each other for hours. No texts, not calls, nothing. He seemed to respect her privacy a little too much She was scared, scared of opening up a wound that didn't properly heal in the first place. She was scared of letting him know about her tragic past, scared letting him see what she had been hiding Nobody knew, not even Claire So she pushed him away—And gosh, she didn't even mean to But like he said, they were strangers. They landed in a private jet terminal in Florence, and walked into the VIP Like strangers, who met by chance on the plane—Immediately they filed the necessary paperwork, they were both met by two tour guides. Their luggage was taken to their respective places of residence It was evening, they were both tired, and things weren't quite settled between them The night was cold, and even the warmth of Italy couldn't shield herSharon looked at h

Sharon's fork fell to the floorHer eyes went blank, and her face was frozen in expression “Sharon I—”“Leave”“What?”“I'm not comfortable— around you”At that moment, Luca realised he had stepped on uncharted territory. Sharon never spoke to him about her nightmares, never gave him an explanation for her post traumatic responsesHe always suspected something, but he never gave in to his curiosity. Never asked, never pried, never raised questions And now, he just ruined a genuine moment, hopefully the first of many to come—By stating that she had a traumatic childhood Luca slowly stood up, with his head bowed “Sharon”“Don't fucking call me that. You're a stranger to me, remember?”Sharon had never spoken to him like that before. Infact she hardly defied him. He usually had his way, somehow. But he was beginning to realise that he hadn't touched the tip of the iceberg And winning her trust, her heart—Was still an abstract thought. One moment he felt like he was making progres

“Hey”“Riann”“Huh?”“Do you usually fall asleep on strangers?”Sharon became aware of her surroundings, and yes, she was sleeping on him Still, she had no idea how she got into that position, since she had been sitting opposite him “I'm sorry”She said, standing up quickly. Like he was the plague“I don't mind, really”She went back to her initial sitting position “No thanks”“Are you hungry Bella?”“No”Sharon folded her arms around her waist, but she couldn't stifle the sound of her stomach growling Luca gave her a comical smile “Will you eat with me?”Sharon sighed. She knew where it was going. He would offer to feed her during the course of their meal, and hold her in a romantic position. And slowly, she would desire his touch, his affection And eventually, they would do it again, and again, and Sharon would slowly fall in love—“No, I don't dine with strangers”Luca pressed a small bell and two waiters walked in with trays of food“It's okay, I'll leave the room for you t

“You look beautiful”Sharon turned to see Luca standing behind her. He was wearing a plain black shirt, with black pants and loafers. His lips were curled slightly into a smile His eyelashes fanned his deep blue eyes, and his hair was messed up perfectly, adding to his sheer beauty His presence sent shivers through her, and when their eyes met, for a moment, just a moment, they shared something beautiful. It was a fragile feeling, still in it's foetal state. And Sharon wasn't willing to accept it for what it was Not yet—“Thank you”Her eyes slowly darted back to the mirror, and she continued to adjust the band on her hairHe walked closer, so that could hear his breathing behind her, and feel the vibrations in his chest as he spoke “Leave it”“What?”He looked at her from the mirror.“I like your hair free”His hands moved to her head, and slowly, he loosened the bun she was trying so hard to achieve. He used his fingers to straighten them out, and paused for a moment to admire
