CHAPTER SEVEN

KIA'S POV

I watched the room, my body coiled with rage, as every eye fixed on Damien. His newly wedded Luna and his parents had arrived and they looked all confused.

Luna Beatrice Damien's mother, was the first to speak up. "What is going on?" she asked.

I kept my gaze steady. "Raven is in a critical condition. Her life and that of her unborn child are at risk and the only way we can stabilize her is through the help of the father of her child ".

"Wait... Damien don't tell me that you got my sister pregnant" His Luna said furiously as she stared at him with daggers in her eyes.

Wow ,so they were sisters,there was a lot I didn't know .I turned my gaze back to Damien. His face was flooded with guilt.He took a deep breath and finally said " I am the father".

The doctor froze, eyes widening as he stared at Damien. He said nothing, though his disbelief was written all over his Elara's sobs grew sharper, I could imagine how she was feeling,two of her daughters entangled with the same man.

"Okay" the doctor said after he had regained some composure. "This is now a complicated issue" She needs to be marked by the mate ,the father of her child only then can her body replenish the energy she’s lost,without it, she cannot fight this on her own".

I shook my head. "Is that the only option?".

"Yes" the doctor replied his voice very low" but since he has already marked someone else and she happens to be her twin sister, the connection and bond Is already soiled,I don't think there's anything we can do for her". He trailed off, shaking his head.

"Can't I try,at least let me try"Damien said.

"No son ,you can't ,that would be too lethal,it's a taboo. You can't mark two women at the same time let alone twin sisters". Alpha Owen interjected .

My patience snapped immediately."You speak of taboos and yet you allowed your son to mate with someone who is not his fated mate". I said to him with rage in my voice. "You know the rules, and you chose to break them and now you are talking about taboos ".

Alpha Owen opened his mouth and tried to justify it. "You don’t understand,it's for the safety of the pack".

I cut him off, rage boiling in my chest. "And what about her life? Is there anything anything that is meant to exceed the mate bond? The bond created by the Great Moon Goddess? You have destroyed it!". I stopped short, catching myself. I saw that some elders of the pack had arrived and they were watching us. They must have heard everything I said and if they knew there job they will stripe Alpha Owen of his title because what he just did was a great sacrilege.

I turned back to the doctor. "Is there anything else we can do to save her". I asked.

He shook his head slowly. "The main solution was stabilizing the mate bond but Alpha Damien is already connected to her twin sister through his mating bond today. If he attempt's to mark her now it will cause more harm. It's risky,at this point, only she can save herself,she has to choose between her life or that of her unborn child".

My heart twisted in pity for Raven,she didn't deserve this ,I stared at the people in the room with me and no one was saying anything. Damien was at a corner. having a angry conversation with his Luna ,his parents had gone out with the elders, probably for a serious meeting concerning what happened here today and Raven's parents were sitted one side looking all gloomy.

And then the door of Raven's room opened and a nurse appeared ,went to the doctor and whispered something to him. He nodded and turned to us.

"She's conscious and she's asking for Alpha Kia" the doctor said .

I stepped into the room, and I saw her lying there, frail and weak. She was no longer looking the vibrant girl I saw yesterday.

I moved closer, standing beside her bed, taking her hand gently in mine,"Hey" I said softly.

Her eyes fluttered open, tears gathering at the edges. "Hi" she said her voice barely a whisper." What are they saying Alpha?" she asked ,her voice a little bit louder this time.

I squeezed her hand lightly. " The doctor is saying that you have to make a choice, Raven". I said, voice low, careful. "The only way to replenish your energy to save you and your child was for Alpha Damien to mark you and stabilize the mate bond but he's already bonded to your twin sister, which means you will be fighting against that connection and you will not survive it. So you have to choose between you or your child".

Her eyes filled with tears, shimmering like broken stars. The pain in her face was intense. I could imagine how she felt,the betrayal and the abandonment from her own family.

The doctor hovered nearby, tense, silent, waiting. "Raven" he said with a careful tone."what is your choice?". he asked

She hesitated, her small hand clutching mine. "I... I choose myself, please save me” Her lips trembled as she said the words.

I felt relief in me, I knew it was a hard choice for her to make but I was really glad she choosed herself.

I gave her an encouraging smile,to let her know that she was not alone. "Everything will be fine" I promised her with a calm voice . "You are going to get through this and I will be here waiting for you ".

Her fingers twined with mine, fragile yet determined, and for the first time since she collapsed, she smiled and that made my wolf settled.The storm wasn't over yet but she had chosen and now that was enough , tomorrow we will fight the rest.
