CHAPTER SIX

KIA'S POV

I watched as the doctor hovered around Raven's almost lifeless body. My wolf snarled in the back of my mind, alert, tense, sensing the fear radiating off her in waves.

She was just a girl I had met days ago, yet somehow I already felt responsible. My instincts had latched onto her the moment she saved my life and now watching her collapse onto the hospital bed, I realized how much I actually feared losing her.

The doctors told me to step outside and i obeyed and sat on a chair outside the Emergency Room and then I heard a voice, shaky and full of tears."Ronan,what is wrong with Raven,what is wrong with my child,I need to see my child?".

I turned sharply. A woman sat in the waiting area, hands trembling against her lap talking to a man who looked distressed as he tried to console her.

She looked up at me as I walked up to them. "Who are you?" I asked,

"I am Elara Sinclair" she said, her voice breaking. " I am Raven's mother and this is my husband Ronan".

I inclined my head at them. Raven had never mentioned her parents to me ,I actually thought she was an orphan. " Mr and Mrs Sinclair, well Raven is inside the Emergency Room and I don't think she would want to see you right now".

Elara froze, her face a mask of confusion and heartbreak. "What..what do you mean by that?".

"I mean" I said carefully, "she's unconscious right now and the doctor is doing everything to revive her".

Her shoulders slumped, and I could feel her grief radiating. She began to sob quietly, whispering, "I should have.. I should have been there for her".

Before I could respond, the door swung open violently, and Damien stormed in angrily. "Where is Raven? Where is she?".

I could see his wolf was in control and was trying to surge forward.

"Damien" I said, stepping in front of him, placing my hands loosely at my sides."Tame your wolf,now is not the time to buldge out of control"

He stared at me, I could see his wolf "You have no right to stop me from seeing her!!"

" I have every right, she is my pack member,she is my responsibility and right now,she can't see you nor anyone because she is in there, fighting for her life and she doesn't need you and your whining" I said evenly, my Alpha voice sharp.

For a second he froze, and I saw the fire in his wolf's eyes dim slightly and he's human took control.

Then the doctor emerged, wiping sweat from his brow, and I immediately asked, "Doctor,is she alright now?"

His face darkened. "it's bad,she has lost a significant amount of blood and her body is depleting faster than we can replenish and she's also about to lose her pregnancy and if we don't act fast,she will not survive this".

A heavy weight settled in my chest .This wasn't just a medical emergency, this was life and death.

Elara gasped, tears streaming down her face. " what do you mean? are you trying to say that my daughter is pregnant?"

" Yes she is ma, and she's a gifted healer,right?" the doctor asked.

" Yes doctor,she is, what about it?" I asked

" Well her energy level is drained,it seems like she used a significant amount of it to heal someone lately, she wouldn't have done that if she knew she was pregnant and that has affected her baby,there is nothing for the child to draw nutrient from" . The doctor replied.

She used her energy on me ,she used it to remove the poison from my system and saved my life and now I feel bad ,I might be the reason she loses her child.I stared at the door of the emergency room behind which she lay, my wolf roaring in panic.

"The only thing that can help her is the father of the child,which I assume is her mate". The doctor continued and a heavy silence fell on the room.

"What did you just say?" Damian spoke up for the first time since the doctor came in with a trembling voice.

" Alpha Damian,I said that the only thing that can save her is the father of her child". The doctors eyes wandered around the room at everyone and then it landed on me "So may I ask who is the father?".

Everyone in the room froze for a second and then, Elara's hand clutched her husband as they stared at each other in guilt. Damian started to pace around .

The doctor stepped forward and said again "We need to know who the father is, without that we can't save the mother and the child".

Every instinct in my body told me to do something but I couldn't,I did not have the full story of what happened to Raven ,I have a suspect on who the father of her child is and I know the person knows himself and I want the person to admit it.

Damien finally spoke, voice low, dangerous. " Doctor,can I see her,at least let me see her".

I didn't move. "No you can't,not until you tell us who the father of her child is ".

His face went white at the weight of my question and I could see the storm inside him trying to fight its way out. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out,everyone else in the room was staring at him.Now his face was twisted with guilt and fear like he knew exactly the consequences of the truth especially in this situation .

Elara's tears fell silently now, as if she already knew the answer. The doctors shuffled nervously, prepared for the answer.Everyone in the room all stared at Damien. there was a reason he was here and his wolf was restless and I needed him to say it.

I took a deep breath,my eyes never leaving Damien. "The father"I said, my voice firm but commanding. "Who is he?".
