“Come on, Charles. Do we have to do this right now?” I open the door and walk out, but I don’t close the door all the way.“

I was just asking.”

“But you seem a little upset,” I point out.

“A little? I am mad. Five seconds ago, you promised that we would rule together, because the werewolves and witches would never accept you. I made plans for us, and then suddenly you changed your mind without letting me know.”

“But we aren’t really together, are we? We are just married.”

“Wow!” he exclaims.

“What do you want from me, Charles? What do you want me to say?”

“I want you to say you are mine.”

My jaw drops, and I’m watching him in disbelief. Doesn’t he notice I didn’t close the door all the way? Unless he’s doing this to provoke Dominic.

‘Are you okay? Should I help?’ Dominic asks telepathically. His voice in my head is calm, but I feel a bit of his anger through the mate bond.

‘Thanks, but no. I got this.’ I respond to Dominic.
