Esther
My father and I walk down the aisle on the beach, wearing a designer gown by Alonzo, the most expensive vampire fashion designer. I smile back at about 200 smiling vampires who have the highest ranks as we walk. I avert my gaze to Charles on the altar, and he sheds a tear, getting a reaction of "awwww!" from those who believe that he is not faking it. Bernard, Charles's father, officiates the wedding, and I zone in and out of Charles' speech about how much he loves me. After saying our vows, we all take a large private plane to San Bernardino, one of the Du Pont Forests. We go to the beautifully decorated garden, and as expected, Margaret outdid herself. "How did I do?" She fidgets nervously with her hands. I pause for dramatic effect. "You outdid yourself," I smile, and her face immediately lights up. I hold her in a hug, telling her that I'm glad we are sisters, but in my heart, I secretly wish that Charles wasn't the reason that brought us together. Charles and I sit in front, listening to unending speeches and vampires pledging their alliance to us. Charles holds my hand the entire time and continues to kiss my cheek every five minutes, eliciting jealous stares from Joan, who struggles to keep her eyes off us. ‘You might be getting attention from him, but he’ll be in my bed tonight,’ she sends me a telepathy. ‘You have been his mistress for 800 years,' I retort, while my father, King Richard, speaks about how happy he is to have gained a son and a new family. 'We were going to get married eventually until you and your pathetic family showed up.' 'What were you waiting for? Were you in a talking stage? That must have been the longest talking stage in the history of talking stages. Why are you doing this to yourself?’ I smirk at her, and everyone laughs, thinking I'm smirking due to what my father probably said. 'What did you say to her?' Charles send a telepathy. 'We were just talking, nothing much. I was telling her to know her place.' He glares at me for a second before quickly turning his frown into a smile. Charles gets up to speak, his gaze soft, making me almost believe that he cares about me. "I have finally found my one. After searching for centuries. I thought I was going to die a two-thousand-year-old bachelor until I met her." He pauses as everyone laughs, his eyes and smile focused on me. "When our parents suggested that we get married, I was overjoyed. My father threatened to force me, but I told him that there was no need. I had been crushing on Esther for centuries, but who could ever approach the beautiful and amazing Princess Esther?" Everyone murmurs in agreement. He raises a glass of red wine. "To Esther, my future queen, who has always been able to bring out the best in me." We all clap, and I return his fake smile. I get up to speak, not knowing what to say when we hear a commotion taking place near the garden entrance. King Bernard, my father-in-law gets up and comes to the front. "Don't be alarmed. It's our guards bringing the poison amongst our species, the vampires who drink animal blood!" He says, his face marred with contempt. I gaze at my family, and my father shifts in his seat as King Bernard talks with so much passion and anger about these vampires and their disrespect. "Hold on, my son has a suggestion." King Bernard gazes at Charles as they speak telepathically. "My son here wanted to suggest that our future queen's first job will be to bring these vegetarian vampires to justice. Who agrees?" Everyone's hands go up, including my family. Charles gets up to speak. "I would like to honor our future queen by giving her this honorable task, which I know she will carry with grace and honor. The essence of being a vampire is drinking human blood, and these vampires who call themselves 'vegetarians,'" he grimaces as he says it. "These vegetarians show that they are ashamed of the essence of their very being. So, why should they exist?" All the guests murmur, and I watch my family nodding along. "We say they should get thrown into the dungeon, and my beautiful queen should lead this trial tomorrow," Charles bows to me, and I smile and nod. 'Did you feed enough this morning?' Jane sends a telepathy, the nervousness in her tone unmasked. 'Yes, I wouldn't want you all to suspect me of exposing myself on purpose.' 'That is not true. You know we care about...' 'Don't you dare, Jane!' I interject. 'I never expected this betrayal from you. How could you not tell me that Dominic is my mate?' Her face drops. 'Look, Esther, I was trying to protect you.' 'Oh! You are really good at that, aren't you? You always know what's good enough for me. You thought I was going to go after him if I knew. You never trusted me.' ‘This is more complicated than you think.' I ignore her, and focus my gaze on my parents who are looking at each other, their changing facial expressions informing me that they are in deep discussion. I get up for my speech, and I try to look at Charles with what everyone will assume is love as I string together quotes from movies about love. "My lady, may I have the first dance?" Charles kisses my cheek when I'm done and then extends his hand to me. We slow dance as I think about the vampires whom I'm going to have to sentence to death because they got caught and my family haven't yet.EstherMy father and I walk down the aisle on the beach, wearing a designer gown by Alonzo, the most expensive vampire fashion designer. Esther I sink into the throne, and I stay seated, staring at the walls and feeling lost. “Penny for your thoughts, my queen?” My uncle Felix bows as he enters the throne room. “Seeing you on that throne makes me emotional. You belong there.” “Don’t call me that, I’m not a queen yet.” I smile, relieved to see him. “But you will be our queen in a few days. I can’t believe you are leaving me.” I get down from the throne and rush to him. We hold each other in a hug and complain about how we are going to miss each other. Uncle Felix has always been more like my father more than my father has. “Was Charles an excellent host?” He holds my shoulders, watching my face closely, and I instantly know that he would know if I lie to him. “Uncle, I saw Charles drink human blood from the human until there was nothing left.” I wince as the memory comes to mind. “I didn’t want to judge him, but I couldn’t stop judging. How am I supposed to spend such a long time with someone when we don’t share
EstherI watch as the car drives off, a strange feeling of emptiness creeping up on me. I sink into the rock on the Carnegie beach, the breeze fanning my face. I tilt my head up to stare at the large, cold and lonely castle I call home perched on top of the mountain. ‘Jane, please come to the beach, and bring me something to wear,’ I send Jane a telepathy. ‘I’m on it,’ she responds and within two minutes, she appears in front of me holding a coat. “Esther, what happened?” Jane, my sister, asks, looking concerned. “Your request to bring something to wear surprised me. Are you cold?” She asks sarcastically. “I'm very cold,” I fake a shiver, prompting both of us to both laugh. "Thank you for bringing it anyway," I put on the coat."Whose T-shirt is that? Where were you? Charles was worried sick about you.” “That asshole! You know he was faking it. I decided to go for a drive and I found myself at a werewolf territory.” I tell her everything from the moment Charles gave me my 'meal
Dominic I draw her towards me, and she let’s out a sharp breath as our lips find each other. I turn her around kissing the back of her neck. She let’s out a gasp as my fingers move on the thin fabric of her bra, tracing her perked up nipples. “Kissing me from behind so that you can kill me again?” she exhales and turns, facing me. “I wasn’t trying to kill you,” I growl, and I move faster than Flash as I carry her to the bedroom, her legs wrapped around my waist. “Pity," she exhales. "You should’ve, because I’m going to once we done,” she moans as I kiss her neck, her legs clamping around me. “Don’t give me ideas. I’ll end you while you cum.” I let her fall on the bed, and I kiss her inner thigh. “Your toxic trait is you thinking you can make me cum,” she says breathlessly, eliciting a chuckle out of me. I undo her bra, leaving her breasts exposed to the dim light of the room. She covers her breasts with her hands, her cheeks turning crimson. “Are you okay?” I ask her. “I, I d
Esther“I’ll be right back, my car isn't parked far from here.” His rich baritone is enough to send chills through me.I watch his perfect butt as he moves, and when I’m sure that he is out of sight, I move in another direction swooshing between the trees, and carefully avoiding the other side of the river. I find myself face to face with him again, but this time he is dressed. I blink in confusion and I notice a slight fleeting smirk on his lips. “I wouldn’t think about running if I were you. The amount of rogues on that side will take you the entire day. If you try to run, I’m going to shift and I’ll catch you before you go far.”“What do you want from me?” I hiss. “To talk,” he says flatly, his dark eyes on me. “I don’t think there’s anything we can ever talk about.”“I’ll talk, and you’ll listen.”“Who are you?” I take a step back. “It doesn’t matter," he takes a step towards me. “Do you know who I am? If something happens to me, you won’t find peace.”“The problem is, you
Esther“Margaret, I didn’t see you there,” I say with what I hope appears as a smile. “Charles said you sent him out on some errand. I have never seen him so in love before.""We are very happy.""Are you coming? You must.” She tugs at my hand. “To the garden?”She knits her eyebrows. “Yes. Are you sure you are okay?” “Sorry, perhaps later. I’m going out for a walk.” I manage a smile. Her shoulders sag. “Should I join you?”“I won’t go far, I just need to clear my head. Wedding nerves.” I dart out of the house without waiting for her response, wanting to get out before more nosy coven members appear and convince me to stay, or worse offer to join me on my walk. When I've ensured that Margaret has left, I get my car, and I go back to the bedroom, to get my 'food.'I lead them out, my body feeling a little exhausted as I try to listen for any sounds of approaching vampires. "I'm going to enjoy my food outside. In the forest." I smile at the guards and they nod in response. We get
